Originally, General Guy had an all red army. Ever since the Pikmin reference(s), his army has matched the colors of the Pikmin. There are no green Pikmin, so no Green Shy-Guys in his army.

You really shove him off the ledge, where he falls several stories onto a solid wood floor.  I'm not sure if the pot smashes, but I think the fall would be the thing that defeats him. It's possible, though, that the pot holds his life.
