| OoC: I'm pulling her profile back up, probably within an hour or so.
She walked through the roads of this extremely poor town. People stared at her, making it obvious that she should leave. No one really liked her, no matter what she did. She could save the entire world, but people would still treat her like she made a pact with the devil. The town could hardly support itself and many people didn't have real homes to go to, it was the same as everywhere else lately. All she could do was pray that they would make it through this phase of poverty. She knew that anyone seeing her at first glance would think she was a monster, not because of her looks, but because of the visible light she put off. Her eyes glowed blue under a large straw hat that was supposed to hide them. She walked as if unconcerned with the world around her or even where she was going. Everything about her seemed selfish and somehow evil. It was the life that Shen lived. Every place was the same to her, everyone was the same. She could speak to the strongest warrior who would want to kill her with every fiber of his being, but he never would. Shen was easily targetable as good or evil, if someone hated something, they'd somehow see it in Shen or be able to blame her for it. Shen could only wonder what people would see in her today. |

Shen's wandering eventually puts her at the back of a large crowd of people gathered around a speaker. "...So if there's one thing I'd like to advise you on, it's to always allow your REASON to guide you, NEVER your curiosity. I mean, look at these Psi Warrior robes! Look what I had to do to get myself out of what I did! 'Course, I enjoyed it..." Lighthearted laughter flows over the whole crowd. "...But you see, life is full of not only wonder and mystery, but important descisions. Recognizing these moments is half the battle! ...But I'm done being boring." More laughter. He truly is a good speaker. "I need you to part so you can all see... Okay, I would now demonstrate my Engineered Celluar Reconfiguration Models on one of you! Who would like to volunteer? ...You, that girl in the back!" He's pointing directly at Shen. "Come up here!" Everyone gasps abhorridly at this. Her!!?? Why HER!?? There's a hundred people in the crowd, and he HAS to pick Shen! Why, the crowd thinks... What crazed fool IS this person truly?!? The speaker looks decent... Grey robes with a tye-die stripe from the left shoulder to the right hip, a face that looks VAGUELY like a haircut/shaved Jesus in his late thirties, the grey hairs already starting to show on his face... He's standing in the shade of a shrine, in front of some small podiums with various doodads of his laid across the stone steps... And the crowd is deadly afraid of this speaker now. "What?" "HERETIC!!" "Insane fool!" "Psi Warriors SUCK!!" Instantly the whole crowd is going THAT way. "Confound it! What's the meaning of this plot twist!?" And by now, all that's left is Shen and the speaker-- Psi Warrior Scientist Zin. OOC: I hope that was any good... I'm quite nervous. |

| Shen: "You seem to have gotten unlucky."
Shen turned towards Zin, she didn't recognized the aura he put out, even though the crowd believed he was a Psi Warrior. Shen: "I'm sorry that me being here caused problems, but you're a Psi Warrior correct?" She began to focus her soul around her and began to ready it without appearing prepared for everything. Right now, everyone could just see the worst in her, was a Psi Warrior above that? They were quite abnormal and maybe they could get past that. Shen: "Or maybe you aren't a Psi Warrior?" |

Zin approaches Shen, thoughts racing. "She sought me out. I love it when these happen." 
"Just a moment..." Zin taps into Shen's mind to get her name-- or tries to, but the collection of soul energy surrounding her guards against that. "Blast! Er... What is your name, girl of mysterious youth? Can I help you in any way or form? Anything you ask of me, practically anything, I will be obligated to help you with." "So far so good, I hope," Zin's thoughts race once more. "But what did she mean by 'unlucky'? Hmm, perplexing..." |

| All of Zin's comments went straight over Shen's head. In fact, she would've never noticed if his soul didn't change.
Shen's thoughts: "This must be an imposter... Psi Warriors are supposed to be noble..." Shen focused her soul energy as a blast of energy all around her. It was only meant to push Zin back and not actually cause him physical harm. Shen: "You shouldn't lie to so many people, Psi Warriors are icons in the mind of many people." Shen closed her eyes, even though Zin couldn't see that anyways, and percieved the world through her soul. |

As Shen's mental push hits, Zin's first split-second reaction is anger, but calm takes him another split-second later, as he reminds himself there are people like this all over the place. ...or are there? "Listen... I don't exactly know where you're coming from, but I can assure you you are the victim of a dreadful misunderstanding. I'm not expecting you to trust my word on this, but understand when I say I would NOT lie to you, or anyone else, in such a deliberate manner. End of story." He turns to leave, but his curiosity stops him. "Damn, I'm such a hypocrite..." "Girl! ...Who ARE you?" He says the last part slowly, as if considering whether or not he should've asked her, but it's definitely too late now... |

| Shen: "It isn't polite to ask someones name without giving yours first."
Shen searched with her soul, the only projectiles she could use were small stones, nothing very dangerous. Shen: "Now, I can't excuse you trying to instill false hope in people, you just make their suffering worse." She knew she couldn't simply trust him to walk away though, no one ever did that, but she couldn't really hurt him either. It was a constant complication for her. To never kill someone, but to change them, it took more time then she could spend with one person to do that. |

| Through clenched teeth and with great restraint, Zin gives his reply.
"My name... is... Zin. Psi Scientist Zin. And I said WHO are you, not 'What is your name'. I figured you were a deep thinker when my mind-reading wouldn't work on you, maybe I was wrong. And... there's no... such... THING... as 'false hope'. All hope is true. Think about that. "Now, let me ask you again. WHO are you? Not 'What is your name', for the record. There's quite the difference in those two questions." Zin sighs. "Things are turning sour. Gee, if I get into a brawl, what elementals are there for me to use?" |

Shen wasn't sure how to answer it. The concept of "I" wasn't exactly strong in her. So, she answered it exactly how she thought it was. Shen: "I am a part of the universe, linked with the rest of it. I'm linked with all parts of the universe, the realm of the mind, the realm of matter, and the realm of life. I'm just like everyone else, so I'm me." |

Zin turns and walks as he talks, expecting Shen to follow. "You shouldn't be picking fights with 30-year-old Psi Warrior Scientists. You're intelligent and wise. Use those gifts for a better purpose. That's my advice." He suddenly turns around. "And no more of this 'false hope' deal! That is an outrage! Do you understand?" "Gee, I hope THAT went well... No way. I blew it at the end. Blast it! Why is this girl so hard to talk to!?" |

| Shen: "You've raise everyones spirits and then broke them, they were hopeful to see a Psi Warrior in action, but you broke it. You gave them a false hope and took it away within seconds... and as I said, I can't excuse you for doing that."
Shen held up her left hand in the air level with her shoulder and her soul energy concentrated onto her palm, forming a visible ball of energy. She grabbed her straw hat with her left hand and held it on as the ball flew from her hand towards Zin. The Anima Ball was a simplistic, but potent, attack that was meant to drain distort someone's senses and effectively drain their energy. It could never be deadly because it acted differently for everyone it hit, but the stronger someone was... |

| "Oh, a magic user... Ohhhhh..."
Zin suddenly draws a weapon out of an invisible sheath-- it's a long, glowing neon-green energy whip. Immediately he's twirling it, then-- CRACK! He snaps the soul globe out of the air. However, this causes an electrical short out over the whole weapon, and as it slowly loses it's glow Zin looks absolutely dumbfounded. "Aheheh... Fascinating. It should recharge in a few moments, though. You!" He thrusts an accusing finger at her. "I tried reason, but that impressively failed, so we go with the next best thing... Sensae, aid this man in his quest!" Then, with a leap that defies his current age, Zin leaps up and right over Shen. His target is the tree in the park, the park being conveniently nearby the shrine. In fact, the tree is 30 feet away. But what would Zin need a tree for? Shen's about to find out... |

| Shen was ahead of Zin, not physically, but with him jumping towards the trees, she knew what to do. She reached out with her soul energy and touched the tree, if he got near it, the tree itself would try to attack Zin.
Shen: "An energy whip...? I shouldn't have expected better from you." The Anima Orb that Shen had used didn't try and chase after Zin, but it instead disappeared completely. It had returned to Shen. |

| OOC: I'll edit this if I misunderstood the "rules" of your last move.
"A little more, and-- Back!!" Shen was one step ahead of him. The tree he was targeting had landed a perfect blow on Zin in the form of an attack-- it had lashed Zin across his face with a branch. Turquoise ether flowed from the wound for a moment, but Psi Warriors can't bleed blood, so after a few moments the wound is invisible. "That, girl, can be a double-edged sword. Watch." Zin approaches the tree again, sliding under another similar attack and grasping the bark. Ether flares over the whole tree as the soul energy Shen imprinted on it is drawn into a mana-pocket Zin quickly forms for himself, along with some of the tree's Nature energy, it's Spring energy (it IS spring, ya know), it's Fruit energy, and it's mana. (Those are dilapidated names given in place of very complicated ones for the sake of the reader.) Zin combines the energies, mentally reconstructs the molecules, adds Ether molecules, sticks them together, and... "I hope this works... Oh HO!" Zin releases a dust into the air out of his hand, that very quickly expands. Zin is immune to this dust (as are all Psi Warriors thanks to the way he engineered the attack), but any other targets, in this case Shen, will suffer extreme paralysis when they come in contact with it. Furthermore the tree's done attacking. "Excellent! Just as Science would have it." OOC: Let me rant for a moment... I've always believed that magic IS Science, and vice versea. When I created Zin, I was thinking, "Why not combine the two?" ...Thought you should know. ^.^ |

| Shen didn't move, in fact she was still facing the same direction she'd been facing when they started.
Shen: "You have no care for life...?" Shen's unseen soul energy began to collect in the air around her. It filtered the pollen away from her. It was a crude method, but it worked. Shen: "To take the energy from a tree so willingly? Trees and plants take only what they need to survive, to take from them is a horrible act." Shen split the air around Zin, trying to sufficate him. |

| The instant the air splits, turquoise ether explodes around Zin.
"Ah, the air is thin! ...To answer your question..." Zin holds his whip up, which has recharged mostly, and begins to spin it like wildfire. A breeze is started, and it neutralizes Shen's maneuver before the ether-barrier fails. "I took a few TINY molecules of their energy signature. The tree is still very capable of living. But I'm a scientist... We're not exactly in agreement with the activists on this subject... But I refuse to change my tactics. Science can be used to enhance magic! That's MY style in combat." With the energies from the tree memorized in the little mana pocket he created, he can easily whip up some more powder by summoning copies of the molecules he studied... but he needs a new tactic. He takes his whip and channels a new variation of the tree energy through it... "Here it is, the Flora Cracker!" (echo effects) If there's one thing Zin is good at, it's definitely a rare talent-- improvising Techs! Zin snaps the whip over and over again at points in the air around Shen, and soon there is a chain reaction of sparks snapping on their own. The cloud of sparks moves towards her in a slow line... and the whole time it's scattering seeds on the ground! The seeds are quickly growing into a wall of barbed, ether-coated, beautiful flowers. Touching them would be poison-inducing, but they just sit there, so if one is careful they're no threat. The cloud of sparks, though, is damaging to get caught in, and if any of the seeds sprout on a person... messy situation indeeed! "So we can give back what we've taken just as easily. Are you happy?" |

| Shen used the soul energy already around her to enter the plants and stop them from growing. She stepped away from the small plants and then let them grow.
Shen: "Do you know how much stronger a plant is than a person?" Shen looked at Zin, although she was focused on the grass beneath him. Shen: "They're determined enough to die every fall and wake up every spring. They are determined to grow forever if we give them that chance." Shen felt the grass fully and saw that determination. She fed the grass energy and watched as it sprung up around Zin, trying to tie him down. |

Zin reaches down and slams two firm palms on the grass as it starts to grow, absorbing Shen's energy signature and halting her attack. "Gee, we really should do something with all your energy, shouldn't we lassie?" Zin starts a "charged attack" as he begins to create an atom out of Shen's energy signature, which by now he's captured plenty of, using Ether molecules as well and many other rare kinds of molecules... including the combustable E24-Zin, invented by who else? The preperation will cost him his turn. "Plants fascinate me, both in the scientific and spiritual sense. They have souls, all right, but it sure as hell's a different kind than anything else!" |

| Shen: "Big Bang."
Zin had fallen into a trap, by using Shen's energy twice, exactly the same. Every piece of energy Shen sent out would ultimately return to her, it was part of her after all. Her soul had different properties though, it could get along easily, other times she could make it have a violent reaction when it touches a certain thing, in this case, Zin. The reaction between Shen's soul energy and Zin's soul energy will result in a rather small explosion, more than enough to envelope Zin but not quite big enough to be a threat to anyone besides him, with an extreme amount of force. It was a strictly spiritual attack and the victim wouldn't have any physical wounds. |

| Since Shen's soul energy is stored in a mana pocket in the Etheral Dimension, where no physical matter is located, Zin is safe for now, but not for long. As he finishes the bomb and makes it physical, Shen's "Big Bang" goes off, coating and lightly throwing Zin. However, this leaves him with a split-second idea in his head.
"Appraisal." (echo effects) Zin closes his one eye and focuses with the patched one, zeroing in on any remaining bits of floating soul energy and scrutinizing it from all angles and statistics. With this info, he modifies some data and captures 3 brand-new molecule types based on Shen's soul energy. Since these molecules are copies and not originals of her own soul, and therefore not really a part of her, Big Bang won't target these. "I should be able to emulate your Tech data now," Zin states. He doesn't attack this turn, since he used Appraisal instead. Though he curses himself for taking such a mighty hit earlier... (edited by Schwa on 04-03-06 11:42 AM) |
