Apparently only with an extremely sparse intrwebz nerd crowd.

The fact that said crowd is concentrated solely around local arcades is still scary though.

This is a commonly known bug, actually, and I think a "perfect" score on the course is slightly over 113%. I'm not sure of the details, but basically, Simple and some of the other "make it easier" mods are scripted into the course (And the scoring adjusted as such)...but the mods themselves have no effect, IE eighth notes still appear despite Simple. The bug is actually in the Normal version of the course too, but because there aren't as many steps, the effect isn't as drastic (I think the max on Normal is ~103%)

That would make sense, considering that you're right - it doesn't kill the 8th notes in either version of the course or any of the 'no' parts of it.

Oh...and said person that found me I have a date with Friday. Go figure.

I finally got some intimate time with DDR Supernova and got to really get to know what the game has to offer.

My favorite songs atleast after today have got to be:

Flow: The sound just rules and the steps are jumpy, but not TOO jumpy. It's enough to make it fun but not over done like DXY. Add to it some neat rhythms, the whole song stays very interesting.

Dynamite Rave Super Euro Version: I just love the turns and the rhythms in this. It's kind of like a mix between the original DR and Down Bird Sota Mix (step wise). I like it a lot, whored it for a 96% AA

Red Zone: Just freaking awesome song. The end has some pattern to it that has you turning a complete 360, but I have yet to get it down pat.

Long Train Runnin' (by Extreme, not Bus Stop): It's kind of short but it has really good gallop rhythms and a nice slow down, the end is wimpy on the steps, it's the same pattern mirrored back and forth.

AA: Not really like it's predecessor step wise. Where as A was fast and furious with it's 1/8th note streams, AA comes at you with gallopy rhythms and complex turns, but it's still a medium 9.

Xepher (Oni): GALLOPS FROM HELL. Sorry, but Maxx Unlimited's gallops are easier than this shit. Other than that it's basic fast and furious 1/8th note streams. Doesn't help that this bitch is off sync >

Healing D-Vision: VERY freaking fun. The 1/12th jumps are just so fun to do. But after the speed up it gets hard to read at 1.5x reverse. Other than that a very fun Extra Stage song.

Wookie Wookie: I was very surprised with this. It's a mostly a basic 1/8th stream fest with a few set of 4 16th notes which feels kinda off since 16ths usually come in pairs, 3s or sets of 5. The jump portions are rather fun too.

Toxic: The new Freckles. What can I say, this is a very fun song for me. An easy AA really. I use this when I want to play HDV.

Freedom: Basic 8ths with some gallops. There's a really fun gallop spin in it that I didn't realize at first, yet still managed to spin to it. The end was a surprise with a 16th note run, but after a 2nd attempt I AA'd it.

Brilliant RED: Go Naoki 9 footers! I really liked this song with it's use of 16ths and a lot of jumps. It's like the new Broken My Heart

Love at First Sight (Twinmaster Mix): Nothing like the Max 2 Love at First Site in steps. It has some Ecstacy Midnight Blue Mix gallops in it and it feels rather off, but it's nice to see it's not a 8th note fest.

Innocence of Silence: Reminds me a lot of So Deep, not near as hard but just as gallopy. The end is definitely the beef of this dish. The gallops start on 16ths and end on 4ths rather than the traditional way and there's triple 16ths gapped in there. It makes for a fresh idea and very fun stepchart.

All in all after finally getting to spend a good 2 straight hours playing Supernova I can judge it for what it's worth. Once the syncing issue is fixed in the patch it'll be a worth sequel, but for now I'm limited to the on sync songs only.

Heh. I just managed to A that today...

And I finally mastered Tsugaru to where I could AA it. I could never do the crossovers in the middle until I tried it again. I could do the LDUDL part but once I got to the URU part afterwards I always confused myself. I conquered it today. YAY!

...could have AA'd it if I didn't get a Good on the last and final note.

Try AAing it on a soft pad on carpet. I've done it a few times, but I'd rather do it on an actual machine.

Oh, I got stood up too, btw.

Er a single Good wouldn't cost you an AA most of the time. Remember, Full Combo != AA.

By Ultramix's standard, 1 Good automatically makes the max score an A.

BTW, I actually AA'd it after posting that. A lot better than with one good. About 70 or so Greats...

I'd do it on a machine... if I had one around...

I have to ask my local arcade to get Supernova or some other DDR. They think PIU is the best dancing game ever as it says on their website. I just emailed them about it so... hopefully I get a response.

Oh ok, well by Arcade Max and Extreme Standards, it's based on dance points. 93% dance points = AA. Perfect = 2, Great = 1, Good = 0, Boo = -2 Miss = -8, Freeze OK = 6. By Supernova standards you have to get 95% and Perfect = 2, Great = 1, Freeze OK = 6 and everything else = 0. By 5th Mix standards an AA = Full Combo, any number of greats.

ITG2 for Driven: I tried again...I got a little further this time, but some of the stuff it asks you to do just screws me up each time. I made it through the first part of Energizer where it asks you to do Boomerang/60% Invisible...but then it moved to Alternate (possible Alternate/Reverse, I'm not sure) where the arrows are shown left/right on the bottom and up/down on top...WITH the damned 60% Invisible still in effect. I survived a little bit and then...well...bit the dust. 24%. :\

Additionally, I think I'm stuck on Dawn now. Can't seem to stop playing it.

All sorts of updates to my arcade GrooveStats. Notes on 3 of the Single scores:

Summer Speedy Mix Medium was accidentally done on X2.5, as opposed to my normal X1.5 (I left it on from the song before, changed my difficulty to Medium as I wasn't sure if I could do it on Hard, but forgot to change the mod). Whoops.

Delirium Hard was accidentally on Reverse; the two songs before were Charlene, and....Charlene (I picked it the first time, then the person I was playing with accidentally re-picked it. For something different, he tried it on Expert, I stayed on Hard but added Reverse), and I forgot to take it off Reverse from the second Charlene.

Dreams of Passion Hard was a low-score attack. NO ONE had played the song before, and I was trying to see how low a score I could get as a Machine Record #1. Unfortunately, it seems there's a minimum score to appear on records even if there were none previously; it also seems that cutoff is above 37.48%.

And Hiryuu: What you're describing is either Cross/Reverse or Split/Reverse, and I believe it's the former; Alternate, Reverse or no, is the one that would, well, alternate the arrows (Left/Up on one side, Right/Down on the other ["Side" here being "one of top or bottom"]).

Pushed VerTex and VerTex^2 (both Medium) up a bit by FCGing both of them (which is actually harder than it sounds). VerTex is up to about 91% and VerTex^2 is up to about 89%.

I pushed an FCG on Know Your Enemy on Hard. Got a 91.4% on it. Lucked. Out.

I finally found a Supernova machine earlier today. Out of the songs I played (6 or so rounds on Standard) it was mostly returning songs (with the exception of AA, Maximizer and another one that I forgot).

There was also an ITG2 machine there, but I opted out because I was still trying to readjust to the arcade metal pad on the songs I already knew (I use an unmodded soft pad most of the time )

All in all, it was a pretty cool birthday.

Meh, why spend most of your time playing old songs? Sorry, but it irks me when people play nothing but old Extreme songs on SN, why not just seek out an Extreme machine

Eh...there are some that are worthy of returns on there, though.

Then again, I'd be all over PARANOiA -Respect-. I haven't heard anyone comment on that yet. Especially DD. I haven't heard any progress on doubles for that one and I KNOW we went over that chart a few months prior to its release. Wicked insane that.

I haven't done much in the way of doubles cuz DDRSN here is $1 a game for 3 songs, so that's $2 for doubles, don't really have that kind of cash to spend. I have played a few times on doubles. Toxic, Freedom, Red Zone, AA and Mr. Badaba are mong the ones I spent a fair amount of time on. AA kicks my ass, it has a nasty run that's a lot like Lemmings on the Run Expert Doubles on ITG, forward and backwards, it's killer...

Para Respect is a lot harder to do on pad than it seemed like at first. The end run is nuts. I might give it another go later today once I get out of class.
