I'm highly dependant on speed mods, I cannot read slow speeds what so ever. On Stepmania anything less than C700 seriously screws my timing and on pad I find myself comfortable at about 580-600 BPM.

BMS's lack of a database backup is really starting to annoy me, since i've been looking for a few specific files and seriously the new site layout is as lame as it was before.

Man, Connecticut is the worst state for dance games ever.

Also, I changed the topic title to more accurately reflect the discussion inside. If anyone objects, I can always change it back, or Hiryuu could always do it himself.

Arkansas isn't that great for it either. It was about ten times as grand back in Illinois. There may be one good player I've heard about down here and that's about it.

I. Hate. My. Pad.

Today I decided to play some more StepMania on pad, so I hooked it all up and stuff and began playing.

I C'd Tsugaru. C'd it. I played a few others and failed some that I know I could do and C'd ones I can easily ace. I figured I should play on keyboard for a bit to see if my timing was off.

I then AAA'd on keyboard 5 times. That eliminated the timing issues...

I did pad once more on Light and it wasn't responding well to that.

Therefore, my 20 dollar mat that I had for two months is no longer in good condition. I would use my Xbox mats, but the converter is for PS2 only. Even then, my brother's old mats have been folded for well over 6 months and won't stay flat anymore and my own Xbox mat has gone through enough as it is.

So I'm going to invest my money into a better mat. I am getting $50 this week to house-sit and am saving that for a pad. I don't know what I'm going with yet, but it may be a Cobalt Flux if I can get a job real soon. I need something that will last and not move on my carpet.

EDIT: Fragments of Sorrow got a makeover today so I'm going to finish it up tomorrow and upload it. Its a whole lot better looking, to say the least. Also, Lyle in Cube Sector fans, I'm attempting one of the songs from it.

I was gonna do an LiCS one a while back but I never got the time to do it.

If you want a significantly better chiptune than any of the ones that LiCS offer, though, get this one.

As for the mat...you spent 20 dollars on it. That should say enough. I spent 75 on two Ignition clones and they're still good but I would rather have a hard pad like a Cobalt Flux (you know, that works unlike DD's)...

cpubasic: If you're gonna get a Flux, or any hard mat really, you're (probably) going to want to build a base for it to rest on if you're going to play on carpet. Reason being that carpets are inherently uneven, and an uneven surface = for a hard mat.

Just a note.

@Valcion: I've heard nothing but good things about the place, but I think it's a bit far from my house at the moment. I'd have to check and make sure though.

I think my pads died due to the control box, which is actually pretty common.

I wouldn't mind requesting Eyes of Flame from anyone willing to give it up to me. It was one of Hiryuu's sims that I never actually got. In return, I got a lot of his stuff off 6.0 in the months before it went down and such.

Here's a listing: Hiryuu should be able to point out the better ones... And NeoMAX isn't his. I just accidentally saved it to the wrong folder.

In fact, a few of these aren't his, I'm just too lazy to move them. Whatever. I recommend Rama Gardens.

I'll tell you now, Eyes of Flame I seriously need to reconsider doing. It's a 10/12 Heavy/Oni and it's in need of a redux I think. It's not BAD per se, but it is a bit of a throw-together. It's one of my earlier keyboard songs and it's really not that hard of a 10 on Heavy.

Rama Gardens 1.5, though, I definitely agree with. That song kicks ass, even if it's mined on all stages. That's WHY I want to do Rama Gardens 2.0 "Omniphilia" when I get a chance.

When it's up, go here and look for Omniphilia. It uses the IT plugin for Winamp. Make sure your tracker plugin has looping...I could listen to it forever.

I've got 122 songs. DD's probably the only person I know of that has them all or close to it.

EE: Odds are I'm getting a different room than the one I am in that has a wood floor, so it all works out for me with that.

As for now, I have satellite for a few days and am willing to take any simfile. Well, not tonight, probably. Tomorrow I definitly will.

Tonight I have to recover from a random hard drive crash that eliminated all my sims and anything I didn't have backed up...

On a DDR Ultramix related note, A'd Brilliant R*E*D, A'd Tsugaru again, and got around to the halfway point on Maxx Unlimited.

Tried again on the crapacab the other night. I can't do any other 10s it seems. Tried Fleadh Uncut on Expert. I didn't do so well. Got to about 41%, 3/4 of the way in, and burnt out. You're basically doing 16th notes at 132BPM the entire time and some of the turns weren't really registering for me.

The ITG entries for OSC 5 are up if you are interested. Link

Also, watch some of those on a SM machine via this thread. These players will also do the DDR entries once they are posted if time permits for them.

My entry for ITG isn't that good... Oh well. It was worth a shot there.

Most of the entries for ITG should be a little harder than the ones in DDR.

For instance, I bet I would've done better in the ITG category for my OSC 4 entry for Transanity than I would have for DDR. Only got 9th with it but it wasn't that good to begin with. :\

My two words on ITG2: Holy shit.

I actually got to play an ITG2 machine today, first time ever. First song I chose was Bumble Bee on Expert. FAIL! Then I forget what the next song was called, but it was one on hard that has a roll for about a full 30 seconds or so. God, that's exhausting.

I then later tried Bumble Bee on Hard and passed, then I did One False Step (or something along the lines of that) on hard and passed, and then Vertex˛ on medium.

It would have been better if the left arrow on the P1 side held freezes and the pad was more responsive to hands... then again, it was a DDR pad, not an ITG pad.

It. Was. Awesome. Yet, it shows how much I need to practice.

All the EX steps are hell as far as I'm concerned. The easiest I've seen so far for EX is High and that one's a pretty fun one, actually...I think I've passed that with an 88%+.

I think my absolute limit on those is Disconnected -Mobius-. I do better on Cryosleep (a 10) than I do on -Mobius- (a 9) just for the sheer fact that you're dodging about 150 mines in -Mobius- over none in Cryosleep.

Bumble Bee EX I passed the first time and it's not half bad but it does have a large amount of chaos that I'm not really used to for songs...maybe on keyboard but not on feet.

Why Me Expert isn't too bad either, just as a note. Ignore my awful terrible score on my GrooveStats, which isn't working right now anyway.

Oh, and D-Code Expert. SO NOT A 10.

uploaded a video of me playing DDR with my friend Brie, and other assorted wackiness. Video was captured by a good friend of mine.

Video is a off sync with the sound by like a second for some reason. Oh well, I have the original video if you want it. Oh yeah, I wryyy and do woodman's pose in it. Keep in mind this w as like at 11pm and i had done nothing but DDR'd all day practically.

Clicky.

I know about my arms.I have no clue why they're like that when i play. :/

Hey, what are some unofficial (as in, not actual DDR mixes) song packs that you guys would recommend? All the songs I have right now are from:

Bantu Originals
1st-8th arcade mixes (plus 2nd Append Club v1&2, 3rd Plus, 3rd Korean, and 4th Plus)
Solo 2000 & Bass Mix
6th-8th PSX mixes (both US and JP versions)

Individual songs are okay too.

the foonmixes are good.
http://foonmix.nothing.sh/

Warning, the downloads are big, as a theme comes with the songs, and each song has videos.
