Which is, by the way, free.

I've taken quite an interest in this gameplay, I play it in the mall all the time. Now I bought it....

How long does it take for you to get better; I can only do the light mode, and like two songs of the standard mode. I want to get a little better.

What have some of you guys done to get better?

Practice. A lot.

For better or for worse, that's pretty much all there is to it. Basically, find out what foot difficulty is the max you can comfortably do, and every now and again, pick a song one foot above it. Eventually, those "uncomfortable" songs should get easier, and you'll be able to play them more and more frequently. Then move everything up a foot, and repeat.

Also, if some of the songs are giving you a hard time on the harder difficulties, change the speed of the arrows to x2. While you may think this is bad, it usually helps with some of the slower songs which have a whole bunch of arrows clumped together. After a while, you should be able to complete the song without the speed boost.

That's how I manage to do some of the songs on Heavy...

Hmm... by the sounds of things the megamixes are new to you guys? I downloaded the megamixes from DDR 2nd mix through to DDR extreme off DJbads when it was up. Took me a whole weekend to do. It's packed away on my spare HD downstairs, but if someone's desperate for it, I'll put them on my laptop so anyone can come and get em off me. They were found on the second CD of the official OSTs. Oh and I also have the 2 Para Para Paradise megamixes too.

BTW I treated my copy of Stepmania to a new theme, and I have to say the Foom one is my fave ever Awesome. Though the cobalt one also wins kudos for it's labelling of Light "So easy you could cry".

I have DDR Megamixes 3 through Extreme. I want to get the Solo Bass megamix but I can't find it anywhere, so they're not new to me.

A couple of things to remember while still playing on light:

There are still some hard Light songs that you could work on before moving entirely to Standard, such as La Senorita Virtual Light (7 footers). On light, your first stage is an automatic pass, wehther you fail the song or not, so use this stage to try hard light songs (Max 300 anyone?) Then try a standard song for your last stage, this way you get to try new songs but still get a full game.

Yes, indeed. Dancemania Discogroove Megamix (though not from a DDR game, it does have several tracks that appear on DDR) is also a good one I listen to a lot.

Edit: Do you guys remember that Konami launched a few months back for people to create a song and the winners would have their music appearing in a future release of DDR? Well, the winners have been selected:

http://www.broadjam.com/contests/konami/winner/winners.asp

My personal favorite is Race Against time. It'll be interesting to see what kind of steps will get out of these.

Edit #2: Oh yes, with DDRecall I've now cleared the 100 mark for AA's. 112 to be exact. Average DP%: 95%. Not too shabby considering I was having an off day today (I barely scraped by a lot of my songs today )

IT'S ME I'M BACK AGAIN

Anyways, got some sims for you guys this time. No graphics to present, but links I do have:

Rhythm and Police [Fusion Mix]
Angel's Pledge [Kare Kano OP theme]
Chaos Angel - Act 1 [Sonic Advance 3]
Chaos Angel - Act 2 [Sonic Advance 3]
Chaos Angel - Act 3 [Sonic Advance 3]

There you go. You guys have fun with them and read the new and shiny READMEs. Fear Chaos Angel.

EDIT: Btb, I passed Euphoria Expert from ITG on the keyboard the other day with C500. Talk about a fucking prick to pass.

It's good to see you back

I just gave all five of those songs a try, so here are the results for my first run through them. Note that I ended up doing Angel's Pledge twice, as the first time through, I was only two Greats away from an AAA, so I played through it again, and got that result.

:: Chaos Angel - Act 1; Heavy
:: Chaos Angel - Act 2; Heavy
:: Chaos Angel - Act 3; Heavy
:: Angel's Pledge; Heavy
:: Rhythm & Police (Fusion Mix); Challenge

I might give Rhythm & Police another try later tonight, as that's not the best result there. For now though, I'm going to wait in the SMOnline lobby to see if anyone logs in that I know. I want to play against someone else, but I don't want to barge into another game when the people in there likely wouldn't even know who I am

I feel accomplished.

Yesterday I completed The legend of MAX on Standard, then completed Daikenkai on Heavy. Today, I was able to pass Sakura with a C on Heavy.
While that isn't much, two days ago I could barely do Sakura on Standard.

Now that I am wearing out my mat, I think I need to get a hard mat. I'll take a look through this thread for any information on that, then I'll have to see what Stepmania is. Sounds interesting to me.
And I need to get the rest of the DDR series. That will probably be a challenge...

...too bad that where I live DDR isn't really... that... popular... well, people know about it and those that play it constantly want to show off their skills on Light... but otherwise, nobody really cares for it unless it is a rap song I am dancing to.

EDIT: I think I'll stick with a soft mat. It just would feel right with me.
And Stepmania sounds awesome! I am going to download it now and hopefully order a converter online soon.

DM Ashura's song GO! kind of dips into tunes of his Maxx Attaxx song from Bemanistyle.
Boy, I would love to see Maxx Attaxx and Z on the new DDR, all of DM's songs are awesome!

Just played Chaos Angel Acts 1-3 on my keyboard. I think the best one was the first, though. Then again, that is just me. They were all great.

Now I have to order a converter when I get the money.

Anybody up for trying The Impossible Song 3? The fact that there's mines in it makes it quite a bit more insane than it already is According to the simfile author's description, StepMania's autoplay can't even keep up with the arrows near the end of the song. I haven't watched it to the end yet, but it's going to be interesting to see This one definitely lives up to it's name, which could or could not be a good thing, depending on how you look at it

Anyways, I've got a bunch of screens to post, and I want to get them taken care of before I go to bed. Otherwise, they'll get left in the screenshots folder, gradually becoming older and older, until they get deleted.

:: Avalonia; Heavy
:: Ballerina; Challenge
:: Gaussian Mist (Part 2); Standard
:: Ile de Fievre; Heavy
:: Mary; Challenge
:: MaxX Cremation; Heavy
:: My December; Challenge
:: Omega; Heavy
:: Polynomial C; Challenge
:: Requiem for MaxX; Heavy
:: Snow Bash; Challenge
:: The Pride of the Tyrant; Heavy
:: Tonight; Heavy
:: Yoake no Hikari; Heavy

Strangely enough, the description of Avalonia says (and I quote) "Many players will AAA and even AAAA it without much trouble." It's basically a minute long 16th run at 163BPM, with a couple purple arrows (I think they're 12ths, but I'm not sure) thrown in near the end. It may be a fairly easy AAA for someone playing index, but it's not so easy otherwise. I feel fortunate to have even managed an A, but I suppose it could be worse.

Anyways, it's nearly 6 in the morning now, meaning I've been awake for 15 hours straight. I think it's time I went to bed

I'm right now making a simfile at this moment. It is the song Destati from the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. I was disappointed to see Dive Into the Heart - Destati on Bemanistyle, but not Destati itself. I figured I should give it a shot.

So far, almost to the part that transitions from 79 to 156 bpm. I had to shorten it a bit to make it not a long song, but it is full of freezes which is how I wanted the song to be like.

Just need some graphics, finish up the rest of the song, tweak it for Standard and Light, and then I can upload it.

I am liking StepMania, though, even with a keyboard. I have to get a converter though to enjoy a few songs that I like (mainly the video game songs such as Tetrix and Chaos Angel).

I was going to upload another one today but DAMMIT...I forgot my USB key at home. It'll probably have to wait til next week.

For reference, it was TRIP MACHINE survivor from Nonstop Megamix, fully staged too. I also had some OGGs to show off to a few people while I was online that I might sim or have ideas for but...that's not gonna happen today. :\

But yea, still working on it.

Oh, and I passed all the ITG 1 Onis except VerTex with mines on now. Hardcore of the North HURTS.
