The world is vieled in
darkness. The wind stops,
the sea is wild,
and the earth begins to rot.
The people wait,
their only hope, a prophecy....

" When the world is in darkness
Four Warriors will come...."
After a long journey, four
young warriors arrive,
each holding an ORB.

The prophecy spoke of four warriors...but prophecies could be mistaken at times. Four ORBs there certainly were, from what he had researched, and he hoped the other warriors with the ORBs would arrive soon.

Sky: Well, it's a nice town, anyway.

Coneria spread out before the young Red Mage, who held his ORB visibly, hoping to attract the notice of the other warriors of legend. This is where the journey should begin, from what he could tell. He just hoped that was right.

((So yes, this is an FF1 story...more than 4 people can be involved, though obviously only 4 will have orbs, and you can join later if you want...as for fighting, don't be overly powerful, at least not until towards the end...you don't have to stick purely to FF1-style attacks, as that's a bit basic, but don't go overboard...))

A woman passed by, more than slightly nervous. She didn't think she was "hero material". She had been informed that there would be others with ORBs, but she didn't know who they were, what they were like, or even how they acted. She noticed Sky, and more importantly his ORB, and tried to find the right words to say. She might have found them, but they came out to fast and far to nervous.

Seraphim: "Ummm, excuse me, hi I'm Seraphim, a thief, I see you have an ORB too!"

Seraphim noticed how fast she talked and blushed a little.

Troy sat hunched by a nearby building, dangling a long silver chain in front of his face. At its end an inch-wide pearl-colored sphere hung limply. He slowly lowered the accessory as he noticed the Red Mage conversing with a passing woman. Both here holding similarly-styled orbs up to each other. Similarly-styled to his.

Get this appraised, hopefully, it'll get you the funds you need to get out of here and continue your search, the voice echoed in his head.

This was a Red Mage in front of him. They were generally jacks of all trades, and he was likely talking about the artifacts - they had ways of knowing about things. Half of Troy wanted to intervene and ask about his own treasure, but he still chose to sit back and listen for now. Perhaps there was something of greater significance than monetary value he was missing.

The door of the Blue Dragon pub swung open, and a large man donned in silvery steel armor, dotted with nicks and cuts and dents stepped out, laughing quite loudly.

"Ha ha ha! I'll see you later, Kantha!"

As he stepped onto the cobblestone streets of the town, the Warrior, Arus Longblade, glanced around, and noticed a duo of of a red mage and a theif, hovering over two spheres in their hand. Arus gasped, and dug into his chest plate, and pulled out a small ORB attached to a chain that hung around his neck. As he observed it, he could see the similarities. Cautiously, he tucked it away again, and smirked. Arus moved his long, messy brown hair out of his eyes with his gauntlets, revealing a long scar down the left side of his face, and he sauntered over to them, grinning.

"Tell me. What is that ya got there? The same as mine?"

With that, he pulled out the necklace to reveal the ORB.

The Red Mage smiled. The old man had told him he would find the others with the ORBs in this town, and it seemed he had been correct. Sky hadn't expected to find one of them quite this soon, however. He noticed his ORB resonate a bit in the presence of the woman who had called herself Seraphim. It would seem she was telling the truth about having one of her own.

Sky: Nice to meet you. The name's Sky. I've been tasked with a pretty big job, and was told those with the other ORBs had the same fate.

Before he could continue, he noticed a fighter...stupid brute if he was anything like most of his class, but a good warrior and a kind soul all the same...coming his way. And he had an ORB too. Sky smiled again. The gathering of warriors appeared to be going quite well.

Sky: The ORBs are resonating. They are of the same ilk.

As he said this, his ORB and that of the approaching warrior began to glow, but only slightly. They were still largely dark. The presence of another ORB seemed to have an effect, though.

Seraphim: "Uh... what's an ilk...?"

Seraphim always felt uneducated talking to mages, she envied them because they had recieved real school too. They could be helpful to people even when their bodies no longer worked properly... all Seraphim would be was some old lady.

Sky: Same ilk would be a similar object, but not identical to the first. Think of the same sort, or something like that.

As the Red Mage explained himself to the thief, he felt his stomach rumble. It had been quite some time before he'd had a full meal, what with the travelling. It wasn't just his stomach that was empty either. His pack had little in it, having been depleted over the journey to Coneria. His weapons and armor were in pretty poor shape as well, he realized, and would need to be replaced or heavily repaired...and he didn't exactly have a lot of gil left either. To make things worse, the others didn't look to be in much better shape. Were the four of them really going to save the world?

*Oi, oi; that's not nice. Ignoring someone like that.*

Arus was quick tempered, expecialy when the alcohol was in him. It wasn;t much today, though. Maybe it was the ORBs that brought it out in him this time.

"Hey, punk! I asked ya a question, I think I deserve an answer!"

He was this close to taking the smarmy red mage my the collar, but he went with his more peaceful decision to not physically hassle him. Yet.

*All that Red Mage wants to do is hit on the cute Thief girl, apparently, and didn't notice me; either that or doesn't respect me enough to give me a response. Jackass.*

((Not sure how much of that was you, and how much was your character. If it was the latter, then I'd say it's taken care of...if it was the former, in order to keep time continuity I had to respond to her first, and then, you'll note, I did take note of your character, and respond accordingly, albeit in a subtle manner. Sky's just that kind of guy.))

Sky: Calm yourself, friend. I wasn't ignoring you; I said rather clearly that yes, what you have is the same as mine and that of...Seraphim, was it?

The Red Mage suppressed a scowl. The fighter was, it seemed, just as dumb as he looked; nothing but yelling in his face would get across a message. Sky had dealt with the type before, and didn't look forward to the possibility of a long journey with another. He was able to smile as he turned again to the fighter, as he remembered what his mentor had told him on the subject.

"They make good meat shields, though."

OOC: everything in asterisks was Arus thinking to himself
BIC:
Arus bellowed a hearty laugh, and threw his head back as he regianed his composure.

Wah ha ha ha! Sorry there, bucko! My apologies."

His big, heavy armor encased hand fell down on Sky's left shoulder, as Arus apologized with overreacting enthusiasm. Even though it seemed hammed, he was being sincere. He then looked over to the Pretty thief girl near him, and whistled to himself.

"Well, hello there. A thief, eh? A girl as pretty as you shouldn't have to go out into the world on her own. With your skills and my strength, we'd make a dynamite team. Whaddaya say?"

He flashed a handsome smile, as he leaned a little closer to her.

Seraphim: "I must admit..."

Seraphim paused for a second, seeing how to put this the best way.

Seraphim: "I've heard worse pick-up lines!"

Seraphim quickly moved away from Arus, laughing a little bit at how... straight forward his attempt was.

Arus was taken aback a bit, and looked hurt.

"Aw, babe, hey. Don't be that way. Oh... Is that your boyfriend?"

He looked for a way out, and decided upon a good plan of action, as he took a deep breath. He put his heavy hands on Seraphim and Sky's shoulders, and smiled.

"Hows about I treat you two to a drink? On me. We can talk a little more about this ORB thing here, eh? Oh, and, sorry for hitting on your girlfriend, pal," he apologized to Sky, with an spologetic smile.

The magewarrior wore an awkward grin. Either this guy was dumber than he looked, in which case, Sky figured, he would need to be reminded to breathe now and then, or he was making a concerted effort to make things weird for everyone. Either way, his ORB seemed to be genuine, so they were stuck with him.

Sky: Erm...no apology necessary for me, she's not my girlfriend. We just met. I'd be happy to talk about the ORBs over a flagon of ale, though. Care to join us, Seraphim?

Sky sighed. This was going to be an interesting journey.

"'ey, have you found anything yet?"

"No," Troy answered, glanced to the bulbous head poking out of the nearby alley. "There was a group of adventurers that just passed through here with a bunch of orbs that looked exactly like it, though."

The humanoid figure stepped out into the light. He was even shorter than Troy at around 3 feet tall, portly-built as the dark-blue gi and sitibaki wrapped around him signified. His head was totally covered in rough, mop-like brown hair, seperated on the sides by ears that stuck straight out. His black, bear-like nose twitched in irritation as Troy opened his mouth again.

"No, I didn't stop them, god..." Troy threw up his arms disgustedly. "If you want to talk to them so bad, they're headed to the tavern I imagine, closest one is two blocks down. Don't get too feisty, they've got at least one mage with them."

The person sighed, letting his arms droop. "So useless... okay, whatever, just get back to the inn, I'll meet up with you later."

"Troy is very observational." Troy mocked.

"Blitzen gets things done." Blitzen shot back.

Seraphim: "I'm sure it couldn't hurt, and there isn't really a better way to know someone until you drink with them."

Seraphim reached into a pocket and grabbed a few coins.

Seraphim: "Let's just hope it doesn't cost more than 10gil."

The magewarrior chuckled.

Sky: Hasn't anyone bought you a drink before? He said he's treating us, so no need to worry. Which is good, since I don't have much on me either, and I need to get some new equipment.

Sky smiled at the thief walking alongside him. This would certainly be an amusing journey if she came along. He spoke in hushed tones, hoping Arus wouldn't hear.

Sky: Just think of this as him repaying you for not hurting him after his awful attempt at picking you up. I'd say a few drinks'd do it.

As he walked in front of him, Arus took the verbal hit, and winced, smirking. *Know-it-all mage...* He spun around, and held out a sack of gil. It was heavy; wasily about six to seven hundred gil in there.

"No worries. I gotcha covered! And little lady, everything's on the house. Think of it as... stealing from me."

*Besides; you already stole my heart, little lady.* He grinned, with a friendly style, as he opened the door to the bar again, and held it for his new "friends". As the trio entered, Arus shouted over the bustle of noise inside the Blue Dragon pub,

"Hey, Kantha! I brought some friends wit' me! Bring us the best ale in the house!" he beckoned happily as he took a seat at a round table and smiled.

As the group sat down, a man rose from his stool at the counter. Long, purple hair flowed down his back. He was clad in a blue robe and wore a pointy, board brimmed hat, which shadow obscured most of his face. Umistakenly a black mage, this fellow. He breathed a sigh of relief, and approached the red mage.

Adamant: Sky, I was hoping I'd find you here. Thank God you hadn't already left. Floatia is...

The mage paused, and looked at the two companions of his old friend.

Adamant: Say... you two. Does one of you happen to be in possession of the Orb of Water?
