So, who here is familiar with this excellent series of games?

Odd in a way that I say that, really, since while I've enjoyed all of them that I've played, I've only found one of them, the first one I played and the one that really got me into the series and "adventure" games in general, to be truly spectacular, and the rest to be good but, perhaps partially due to their age for 1-4, not as great.

That one really great one is King's Quest VI, which came many years ago with the CD Rom drive we got for our computer...yeah, it was so long ago that this was a huge deal. The voice acting, for one, is really great, especially the narrator.

But yeah, I bring this up because I recently decided to start playing KQ6 again, though it was a pain to do on Windows XP (ask me if you need help). Anyone else familiar with the series? There's an unofficial King's Quest IX lined up to come out, actually.

Uh-huh.

I don't think that King's Quest can be considered an RPG, so I'll bump this over to General Gaming. It has some RPG elements in the sense that it's set in an extremely well-detailed fantasy world, but it's a graphic adventure, plain and simple.

King's Quest VI was the only one I played but it was fantastic; aside from some insanely difficult puzzles. That block one where you had to go up the mountain... URGH. (Oh, and the Minotaur's labyrinth. Yeah.)

Lordly? No, not quite.

King's Quest VI would be Mask of Eternity or something like that? Yeah, my friend used to own them all, beat them all too. I should really borrow them sometime.

Mask of Eternity would be VIII, and the final entry in the official series.

And yeah, I suppose you're right, not really an RPG, fair enough. I was confused where this went when I went to check up on this, though.

I think the puzzle at the mountain steps was meant as a copy-protection device.

I played one of them. I think it was IV or VI, I forget which. It was years and years ago. I was only able to do so little in the game since this kind of game was out of my general gaming style...
That and I barely understood logical thinking...

Copy protection would make sense since I didn't have the manual - at least, right away. XD

Still, the Minotaur labyrinth... talk about trial, error and mapping.
