OoC: This should be fun if I get some participants, at first it might be hard for your characters to join the story, but realize that by "join the war effort" that can mean just being a medic, a spy, really anything.

Technology, it is the ultimate source of power for human kind.

Magic, it is the ultimate source of power for human kind.

Two factions believe that they are right, but one is more power while the other is still young and growing. Magic now is plotting to destroy technology and those who use it before technology becomes a threat to their power; however, they were to slow.

A comet broke through the atmosphere and fell towards the town below. Many others followed it as the comets bombarded the town. It would be the first strike in a long war. The town slowly burned and as magic wielding soldiers entered the town, absolutely sure that they would win, reality was brought to them. They had heard of elevators, but they’d never felt the ground shake as they witnessed one rise, carrying something huge.

They began to retreat as the monsterous machine activated and took it’s first steps.

General: “What the hell is that? Bring in the dragons!”

More comets began to fly towards the city, but they stopped above the city and dragons erupted from them.

???: “Hey, wake up!”

Raphial woke up and looked around. He had fell asleep in a bar… how humiliating. He looked at the MVS (Magical View Screen) and heard someone speaking.

Disembodied Voice: “Tonight we plan to invade Neo Terra’s capital and destroy these scum before they become a real pain. They’ve threatened us before with their technology that destroys the earth so the Arch Magus have decided that they need to be crushed…”

The voice kept going, talking about politics, none of which interested Raphial. He had come here as a recruiter for the army, everyone who entered the bar had the message “Please talk to the man in the uniform if you want to join the war effort” go through their mind. Telepathy had so many uses.

(OOC: This is before Barnaos gets killed. I figured he would fit since the Windonian Empire is mainly technological and would make a great person to fit into this war. Also, this will be the first time I actually try to be part of the Story Forum, so my intro probably isn't that great.)

Barnaos stationed himself inside the technological paradise. Himself being of technological fame for inventing the Wyre Phrame battle mech, he needed to spend time in a place that could give him new insight on battle weapons as well as add forms for his mechanical invention.

Gathering as much information as he could on the ongoing war here in this world, Barnaos left his army in the hands of his apprentice so that more planets could be conquered while he was away.

This place was exactly what Barnaos needed for his own army gains. Mechs. Guns. Bombs. Everything was advanced. Sure, dark magic was inside of him, but he rarely used it without some sort of mechanical object such as a gun or rifle. He also refused to use simple magic skills without some sort of object to manipulate his powers to.

As he roamed the streets of the city in his bulky brown armor, he couldn't help but feel that a battle was going to take place in the very near future. Without his army, Barnaos would have to fight by himself. He looked around and noticed that everyone else was also ready to fight when needed. He had a grin on his secluded face, knowing that technology is the absolutely best weapon ever.
The sheer amount of technology here would aid him in conquering this dust ball and would give him more slaves to make his own creations.

He would refuse to join up with the army here, but if war did break out, he would be willing to fight. Fighting was his only reason for existance, and that was what he would do.

A young man in a black trenchcoat stared from a nearby hill at the devastation being wreaked below. Those fools, he thought, fighting over the dominance of magic and technology.

???: They're both wrong, heh.

As a bit of debris flew towards him, the young man raised his arm up, and a small shield of light formed itself in front of him. Magitek had been used to destroy quite a bit, even in its rather limited usage, but also had its defensive aspects. This was one of the recent bits of magitechnology grafted into the decker, who didn't have quite the same magical potency as other members of his family, or at least not the ability to utilize it directly. He smiled. But this certainly evened the odds a bit. The scientists had been overjoyed when he came to them; most of those with magic in them shunned the technology, after all.

A young girl walked up to where the youth was sitting.

???: Strato, you know you're not supposed to be here.

Strato: Chloe, you know what your mother says doesn't really apply to me. I'm not really her kid anyway, and I can take care of myself. You, on the other hand, need some protecting.

As if to prove his point, another piece of debris flew up at the hill, which Strato blocked with the same light shield he had used earlier, before leading Chloe back towards her home. Halfway there, he turned and quickly ran back to where he had been, yelling back to her.

Strato: You get back now, I'll take care of this!

With that, he lept over the crest of the hill to drop down to the level of the fighting. He just needed to figure out who was making more damage and try to sabotage their efforts. Easier said than done, he realized.

???: "Hey, you should get into a shelter!"

A soldier ran up to Barnaos, equipped with a machine gun and a few grenades.

???: "You don't want to be caught in the cross fire of this war. You might get shot to death or be killed by magic."

As if on cue, a barrage of ice spikes skewered the soldier before he even had a chance to fire his gun. The mage that did this wore heavy armor and stood at least seven feet tall. He turned his attention to Barnaos and began to summon more ice magic.

Operator #1: "Professor what should we do!?"

The operator was refering to the multitudes of dragons that were about to fire on the large mechanical weapon that seemed oblivious to any threat.

Professor: "Lock onto to all three dragons, prepare to use the energy rifle and shrapnel missles."

The professor looked out through cold logical eyes.

Operator #2: "But sir... we'll destroy all those homes, people could be hiding in those homes..."

Professor: "It doesn't matter, some prices have to be paid. Until unit two and three are completed, this is all we can do."

Above ground, a massive amount of energy was suddenly stolen from all the mages on Neo Terra. Enough power was stolen that it was a visible effects, streams of magical energy streamed into the giant machine's energy rifle which it now had pointed at the sky. The mechanical monster took aim and braced itself. Two missles erupted from it shoulders and flew into the air. The dragons seemed to ingore thise missles until they exploded and thousands of shards of metal rained down on them.

Operator #1 and #2: "Fire!"

The blast of energy that the machine had been gathering was suddenly released. A huge blast of energy shot into the sky, vaporizing the dragons before it safely left the atmosphere.

Operator #3: "It's over heating! There is to much power!"

Professor: "Shut off all power and let it stand over night as a message. If the mages think of attacking again, there will be confusion in their ranks. Tomorrow we'll bring it back down and repair it. I want everyone up early, we have to finish unit two and unit three tomorrow."

Barnaos shifted attention from the technological paradise to the new foe. His arsenal was not well prepared for a war of this magnitude, but he was sure to improvise with what he found.

He had three grenades and a pistol, silenced. He also had a machine gun.

This situation called for his grenades.

Pulling one up from his satchel, he grabbed it and threw it at the foe without pulling the pin. As the grenade closed in on the mage, he drew out his pistol and shot forward. The bullet rammed into the grenade and caused it to explode on contact. A new innovation to the empire. Only with proper training could one shoot the specialty grenades with enough accuracy to unleash hell upon a soldier or Barnaos, but a soldier of the empire could easily destroy foes with this foolish trick.

Quickly surveying the scene around him, he grabbed a grenade from the dead soldier that tried to help him and added it to his arsenal while obtaining the downed machine gun and unleashing all rounds at the explosion area, hoping to have killed the mage.

Even the ongoing chaos around him didn't phase him in his task.

A tall slender man in a long black cloak, its hood hanging limply over his head and flapping in the breeze, stared up into the sky with grim satisfaction as the energy exploded with a wild shriek. He smiled, hearing a howl tear down at him. He flicked out his hand, catching a seething shard of metal from the frag weapon detonated in the sky mere moments before.

"You think they would be a little more careful with these." he murmured, shaking the heat off before stuffing it under his robes. His eyes rolled over as down the alley to the next street, red light pulsed with a dim rumble following suit. The explosion quickly dulled out. "...I still fail to understand the absence of a ground campaign...this is such a crude display of power... yet, ultimately, ineffective..."

He reached down, parting the middle of his garb with his hand. He drew out a massive handcannon, easily over a foot in length, wrapped with some sort of energy coil. He calmly advanced in the direction of the ruckus. "Again Neo Terra will need to take matters into its own hands."

Strato dove to the side to avoid being skewered by a particularly large metal shard, throwing up another light shield to guard against smaller pieces. It had become abundantly clear which side was the bigger threat to the general order here, and decker wasn't about to let that destruction happen again. He would have to dismantle the weapon before it got fixed up.

At that, he began to sneak through the ruins of the city towards the weapon, deciding it would be best to delay any confrontation until he had just about reached the target. After all, he mused, it might be heavily guarded inside. In the chaos, he guessed, they hadn't seen him yet.
