Okay... so for a while now... Ive been thinking. This place is fun. People come here, they participate, they make stuff, and we all have a good time. Though, some people dont have as much fun here. Maybe they dont have enough time to sit down and do stuff. Maybe they want to take a puzzle or two on the run...

Maybe they dont get the newspaper.

The other day... I had a brilliant idea. What if, there was this little committee/group of us that had a sort of "newspaper puzzles section" except in thread format. It wouldnt be for points, or prizes, it would just be for the one thing Ive always seen this forum as, fun. It could have mini-puzzles that people could take five minutes to sit down and do, just for entertainment.

The thing is, one person running this... wouldnt exactly work. Thats why I want to get a little group of say... 4 other people together to think of puzzles for this little experiment of mine. Everyone would run their own little game, and it would, in the end, be easier for the most of us.

If it all works out, the puzzles would be posted, hopefully, thrice weekly (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). Since, I have the "mystical mod powers" over this forum, id take care of all of the sticky details involved in keeping the thread organized and in top shape.

So, if youre interested, say so. If you have suggestions, things to add, comments, etc, post them here. If done right, this could be a total success.

So we'd basically come up with puzzles for other people to solve?
That would be enjoyable. I'm terrible at solving puzzles, but I think I can make some pretty good ones. Count me in.

I'm not creative enough to start a game of my own, but I would love to participate. And if somewhere along the line I do think of a game to start, I'll run it by KATW about joining in with it. Otherwise, I'll be a participater.

Oh, like that one puzzle making group in real life? Sounds interesting. I might consider joining it, although I don't have much experience in the field.

I think the suggestion is great; my only question would be what types of puzzles would it contain (so we could have a general idea as to what to think up).

Also, I'd like to participate in designing these puzzles.

Well... I was thinking,

SuDoKus, scrabblegrams, scrambles, a small crossword puzzle(If anyone is up to it)...

Just, any small game that anyone thinks that theyd want to just run... Im not saying you should do anything big. In fact, the smaller it is, without being literally 5 seconds to do, is good.

If you want ideas, pick up your local newspaper and look for the section that contains these little games for inspration.

How about word searches?

I can make fairly easy ones...

Acmlm crossword #T (for test)
ARUPN
CRAZY
MEPDA
LXWFR
MHKTG

Words to find:
ACMLM
YARG
CRAZY

I'd make them more complex then that, but you get the idea

Word searches would work!

Anyone else... someone could do a "Scramble-Gram" type thing.

I have an idea for a game.

My parents play this word game in the San Antonio Newspaper everyday except Sundays because they don't do it on that day. They are given a certain word and they have to make words out of it. For example, say the word is relative. I can make the words REAL and LATE out of the letters of relative. There are also a minimum of 4 letters per word and they can't be slang.

I was going to run one awhile back but couldn't because of lack of time. I might start it this weekend. I just didn't want anyone to take the idea.

I'd be willing to revive the Rearrangement you did before KATW, but like you said, not for points. I could probably put like 5 up at a time or something like that.

I'll keep my eye on this thread for the time being though

I was wondering who would like to take Rearrangement up again

Fabio: Possibly... though, when making a game, its better if you start with the answer, then come up with the question... makes it easier to avoid "missed" answers...

No, just word searches are fine... in fact

If we only have one person per game, that might work out in the long run... since, if someone DOES have to drop, it wont overly burden someone... and if nobody drops, then its a lighter workload all around

@Tatrion: If you are still interested in a puzzle generator, here's one. It's the one my teacher uses when he makes word searches.

@KATW: I was thinking for the answers, I would look on Dictionary.com to see if they are real words and are not abbrevations or something since those don't count. I'll see how the game goes when I eventually start it on the weekend.

I might be able to do more of those rebus-y type puzzles that I did a while back. Like for example:

MAN
BOARD

BLOOD
H2O
