I've been working on a hack of Pokemon Red (the original GameBoy version, not FireRed), and I need to edit the tile mappings (ie. what tiles go where on screen, not the tile art) on the title screen. Does anyone know the location where this data is stored?

Thanks in advance.

Try downloading Pokémap, then checking the .ini for the map offsets.

Thanks for the help, but this isn't for the town maps, this is for the title screen. If it's the same format, then I apologise, but I don't think it is.

Actually, the offset I was looking for was 0x45A1, which is where the actual tiles MAPPINGS, ie. what tiles are placed where, are stored. 0x4599 is the cell offset on the screen to map it to.

ie.

I start off with this. Standard Pokemon Red title screen.
The graphics for the text "Green" is still in the ROM, as the Japanese Red and Green are essentially exactly the same in tile data. (These tiles being held at 0x68030, in 1BPP Mode)
Therefore, at Pokemon Red's hex offset 0x45A1, the current data 60 61 7F 65 66 67 68 69 50 8D can be replaced by 62 63 64 7F 65 66 67 68 69 50
(The 8D doesn't seem to matter, luckily).
Now, the text is not directly in the centre, as would be in a good hack. The offset for this is at 0x4599, with the default hex value at 47.
Changed to 46, the text is centered correctly. (The hex value 47 is what I assume to be the 8x8 cell reference on screen, counting from left to right and then down a line.)
And with a few extra changes (done a lot earlier, the title screen is essentially the only thing I had left to edit), you can get and almost authentic looking Pokemon Green U/E version. :P

Pokemon Green, coming soon to a store near you. ;P

With the amount of activity in here I don't think it will ever hit bottom, so sticky would just be pointless.

But anyways can't wait to play and actual English Green Version, the only translated ones I've played so far were horrible. Text was crap and they messed with the game a lot. Anyways good luck
