SMB1: Lakitu
SMB2 (US): Spark
SMB3: Thwomp, Boo, Lakitu, Munchers
SMW: Thwomp, Thwimp, Boo Buddies
SMW2: Hootie the Blue Fish, Dangling Ghost, Fishin' Lakitu, Blow Hard, Bandit, Eggo-Dil
Those are the ones I can think of offhand.

I didn't think amazin flying hammer bros were very hard... and they could even help you with their platforms.

True, but I don't have any really tough NMEs, and they are annoying when i'm going for a speed run of the level. They throw a lot of hammers that get in my way.

To name a few off the bat.

I hated the Hammer Brothers in the original SMB. I didn't like waiting for it to jump so that I can pass through because I knew it was impossible to jump on it's head since it throws hammers nonstop.

I also hated Lakitu in any SMB game because those too many Spinys can get ugly.

The Boos in SMW. Not just any Boo but the Boos that are in a swarm and attack you once you stop to get something. Those were annoying.

Likely the clouds in Mario Sunshine. Them knocking me off edges was the source of endless frustration.

Yeah... the Hammer Brothers really annoyed me. I kept getting hit by the hammers and stuff. Toward the end of lost levels and that cloud level, you'd have to deal with them again... Again, I kept dying there. Heh.

I remember that level because it took me a lot of tries to beat it. What's worse about those Hammer Brothers in that level and the other levels from World 7 to World D was that the Hammer Brothers are running toward you which makes it even more harder to get away from them.

Phantos are HELLA annoying.

See, I'm like Wario. I'm too dang greeeeeeedy to give up the key, even to save my own hide, so what basically happens is that I get reluctantly invited to a dodgefest. It's my own fault, really, but still... It's challenging to constantly dodge the Phanto, even in W1-3's vertical race to the bottom!

On the same subject, I feel almost the same way with Blue Panzers.

Other than that, no Mario enemy is particularly annoying... Challenging, yes, but not annoying.

The Phanto itself isn't really annoying, but how it chases you is. You run into problems when youre running from it.

All I do is drop the key when he comes near, then pick it up again when he leaves and run like hell.

As for annoying enemies, after playing Yoshi's Island, I want to go into a jungle and personally set fire to every monkey I see. Also, penguins in any Mario Kart game.

Phanto isn't that bad. I've even outrunned him on more than one occasion with Toad. As for the monkies, they were really only problemestic in More Monkey Madness.

SM64: Remember that crazy piano? That thing is scary the first time. Then it just gets annoying.

SMB2: Blue Panzers, in certain spots.

SMB3: Fire Spitting nipper plants can piss me off sometimes.

But let's not forget the ultimate enemy of almost every platformer: THE LAVA. Instant death in a video is not funny in any way shape or form (unless you're dealing it of course). THE BOTTOMLESS PITS get honourable mention as being the second most ultimate enemy of every platformer.

Second'd. Completely. Good thinking outside the box.

W8-4 and WD-4 on SMB The Lost Levels simply REEKS with annoying enemy setups. Which reminds me... Cheep Cheeps jumping at you across the WHOLE bridge run is very annoying. You're bringing a Flower into W2-4 to kill Bowser for the 5000, some badass fish in w2-3 barely nicks you 'cause you forget to duck, and you're instantly screwed forever in the 5000 department should you have actually reached the checkpoint by now. They get even WORSE in The Lost Levels.
