This has been done. On this board, recently I believe. I never find it interesting either, it's obvious we're smart enough to figure it out if a few letters in small words are scrambled.

I'll leave it up to KATW if he wants to leave this open or move it or anything.

I've actually read a bit more on this, pity I don't remember it much now. Essentially, it said that this is exaggerated a bit in our ability to do that. There are certain limitations as to the words that might be used in this way.
