I remember having a 72 games cartridge that I borrowed from a friend at one point. I thought Mighty Bomb Jack was decent. It was certainly worth a decent amount of money, despite the fact that a number of games were essentially identical. It had most all of the old NES games like Wrecking Crew.

Movie games in general, though, are pretty awful. There are some shining examples, though, particularly in the most recent generation of consoles (e.g. Spiderman)

Must....stay....on-topic.

The Genesis port of Sword of Sodan was awful as well. Never played the original.

For a long time, any licensed property was almost a guaranteed crappy game. This went double if the game was based on a Nickelodeon property (SEE: Any Ren & Stimpy game).

Oh, and the real reason I wanted to post: here's that early GameFAQs poll I talked about. Looking back on the total votes then as opposed to now is really funny.

FFVI is my favorite game also. Like Skydude said though, the first half is great, awesome story, lots of focus on Kefka and stuff. As soon as it becomes the World of Ruin, he runs and hides in his tower and thats basically the last you ever hear from him until the end of the game. Then you're basically on your own.

Still a great game though

On-topic: The worst game ever has to be Superman 64, as mentioned. It's just....terrifying. Waste of a rental

(P.S. What game is the 3D Terra from in the lament?)

I seem to recall the Ren & Stimpy game for the Genesis getting good reviews in magazines so MAYBE that's an exception to the rule. Alien 3 might have been an exception as well, but at least 90% of licensed games during the 16-bit years were below average or crap.

Well, I think that it's VERY important to look at numbers here rather than percentages. The total number of voters in that poll isn't 10% of what you generally get in an average poll these days. Why is that important? GameFAQs was first frequented by devoted gamers, and later by the fanboys who currently dominate the scene. It wasn't, my theory is, that the opinions of individuals changed. Rather, it was the demographics. It's like an influx of immigrants...only in the case of immigrants many are intelligent and hardworking, whereas the fanboys are pretty wholely awful.

Only two of them absolutely refused to work, but a lot of them tended to glitch once you had passed a certain point, and pretty much all of them threw you back to stage 1 after you beat 3 or 4 stages. And of course, the vast majority of them were incredibly dull shooters and platformers with only one or two enemies, and extremely similiar stages, all of which look like they were designed in 5 minutes (half the platformers consist of nothing but long hallways with some pits here and there)

Not EVERY aspect of this game is bad, but I would have to say "Shogo: Mobile Armor Division" for PC. It's a very anime looking first person shooter. Not only are the graphics horrible, but so are the scripted sequences, and probably one of the glitchiest games of all time. The voice overs are pretty well done, but it's a shame the rest of the game was pretty crappy. I thought Monolith could of done better than this... but they've been getting kind of sloppy lately (IE. compare a masterpiece like Blood to the horrible Blood 2).

They let you return it? Lucky bastard. Wal-mart wouldn't let me return Pokémon Dash, which is a huge turd. AVOID.

Also, F-Zero GX was a major disappointment for me. It's good, sure, but X was so much more fun.

Action 52 was a lot like taking 4-5 "unique" games and trying to multiply them until you hit 52. All I know about the Sega Genesis version is that the graphics were better but aside from that...

Best quote ever from the Wikipedia article:

Active Enterprises advertised a competition in which anyone who could complete level 5 of Ooze (NES version) would be entered into a prize draw to win $104,000. It was soon discovered that the game would crash on level 3, making the competition impossible.

Please don't bump a thread to make an off-topic post. This thread is for discussion on bad games. For help with Vice City, check GameFAQs.
