I'm usually not the one to make threads, but a huge swelling of "oh em gee" forced me to do it. That and I'm procrastinating with homework.
I present to you all a trailer that was shown at this year's GDC. Straight from Nintendo.. Straight from Nintendo Europe Or the Miror The only thing I'm worried about this game is the people who're going to complain about the combination of two of the criticized things in Zelda games: Navi's voice and Wind Waker's art style. Personally, I love the Wind Waker style, and I was never bothered by Navi. (She's my friend!) But.. whatever. New Zelda game! I got the links from 4colorrebellion.. |

I saw this about an hour ago... Looks fun! It's all over the Zelda boards. Looks fun to draw on the map. I would get that. I am (with my brother.) own every official Zelda game, and won't stop at this game. And they say it will come out this year, but I don't think so...

I am both overjoyed and dissapointed. I was HOPING for a Zelda: OOT Remake, or at least a trip back to the good ol' days of a serious looking Link, as the cutsey Cel-shaded thing is getting stale. Really stale. Still, I own every Zelda game to date (except for teh PC-I abominations), so I feel obligated to get this, as well. Good to see a Zelda game on the DS finally, though.

Originally posted by KirbyniteAgreed on both counts. I thought it was nifty that Wind Waker felt like an interactive cartoon, and I actually liked Navi. (Now, Kaepora Gaebora, on the other hand... ) Judging from the trailer, the game looks like yet another excellent addition to the series. I especially like the handwritten notes on the map and the camera view, which allows for 3-D elements while keeping the game playable on a handheld without any easy way of manually controlling the camera. |

Reall, the Wind Waker style was cute the first...4 times it was used. I'm really sort of tired of seeing it now...but, I might still try this game out if I have the money. I'm still more looking forward to Twilight Princess right now. Maybe Nintendo should work on one Zelda at a time, it looks like they can barely handle that ._.;;

I take it Nintendo's actually making this one in-house and it's not being delegated to Flagship/Capcom?
It looks nice but Nintendo was just in total teasing mode today. Glimpses of Zelda DS, saying that Genesis/TG-16 games will be on the Revolution, etc. They took the high road all the way to E3. |

I'd rather see games in the style of back then. See also: Link's Awakening, Oracle Series.
If it's anything like "Minish Cap" (which sucked)... ugh. |

That's what I mean. Link to the Past was one of my favorite games ever ever...and Ocarina of time was just a treat to play. But the new graphics style? Okay, Wind Waker was cute. And the...3+ other games that used it...okay. But they killed it. It is dead. Enough already with the graphics style, please ._.;; it was a novelty style that works well in moderation. I just got tired of it I guess.

Being a Zelda fan I will of course get this game.
It looks like its going to be a great and im glad they didnt do another remake. LttP and OoT were great but after beating them 8-9 times they kinda lose their spark. Im also happy with the graphics, I notice that there arent really any "Jaggies" like other 3D DS games and I like the WW style. One thing that surprised me was they didnt go with some D___ S___ title. |

If I remember right the game is made by the Wind Waker team, not the Capcom/Flagship team who were behind the LttP port and Minish Cap.
List of games that use the Wind Waker style. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (3D) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Four Swords (2D) The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (2D) Navi/Tetra's Trackers (3D/2D) The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (2D) The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (3D) Well... that is kind of alot, though only two(now three) of them were 3D, and apparently in the Wind Waker timeline. Here it is grouped into groups. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (3D) Navi/Tetra's Trackers (3D/2D) The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (3D) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Four Swords (2D) The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (2D) The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap (2D) |

Few things to say about Zelda as usual with it being my favourite series and all.
I have never had an issue with the WW graphics style and i accept that they want to use it once again. To me it always had more atmosphere to it than people gave it credit for and loads more than i was actually expecting from it but perhaps at some point Nintendo should really take the series in another direction that doesnt include the WW style or the (more preffered by many) style of OoT which have both been used to death IMO. I'm also not worried about the gameplay which to be honest is never the part of Zelda that is questioned, the thing i am worried about though is length of play. Has anyone noticed the continous shrinking of most, if not all Nintendo games. The ones that sucked are most often the ones that lacked dungeons and by lacking dungeons they also seem to lack a lot of diversity which usually comes with them. I mean nobody can argue that Minish Cap didnt have shit loads of spirit but it was also way too small as was WW. I have been less than impressed with games that use stylus control and despite Nintendo's persistance it can no way replicate the 64/GC's analog stick. Don't get me wrong i like the stylus in a lot of games but so far for topdown/3d character movement titles (such as Animal Crossing, Mario 64DS etc.) it has been quite crap. Final issue I can see with the limited footage and images avaliable and i do stress it is only limited so far but the dungeons to me look like the worst design Nintendo has ever come up with. It all seems to be one big square maze made up of blocks and relatively unimpressive textures which don't reflect on anything Zelda has done before. Worst of all it reeks of bad PS1 levels or the piss awful Megaman 64 randomly generated dungeons. I'm hoping it gets spruced up a little. |

They're probably just test levels. I agree, though, enough with the cel shading already. |
