If you collect music, there are bound to be times when you buy something thinking its going to be really good, only to get stuck with a piece of crap. So what are your biggest let-downs?

for me:
Cro-Mags - Near Death Experience.... I was in high school, i loved hardcore music at the time. I had heard one Cro-Mags song and really liked it so i rushed out and bought the only album by them at my local record store. The song i liked was not on there. In fact i thought i had gotten a different band by accident when i turned it on. But no, this is the same band... only whiny, boring, and hare krishna.
Guided By Voices - Do The Collapse... It was the late 90's, GBV was my favorite band, having made a dozen kick ass albums. Then i got this one. What the fuck, the king of lo-fi rock have made an over-produced attempt at mass-appeal. It is dreadfully lame, and i have'nt bothered with them since for fear of getting more crap like this. Their older albums still kick-ass though.
Meat Puppets - Out My Way... I loved Meat Puppets II to death, but then i got this. Gone is the energy and origionality. Whats left is boring. Snore.

Hmm. There have been quite a few.

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs-Fever to Tell
I don't know what the hell I was thinking when I obtained this album. I think the fact that I liked their song "Maps" that maybe the rest of the album was going to be good. It wasn't for me. I wasn't expecting an entire album to be like 'Maps' obviously not, I simply expected something good. Not so.

Deftones-Deftones
I have White Pony. I have Around the Fur. I have Adrenaline. I should not have this album. It sucked. Point blank. I don't even know how many ways I can say that it was bad. It simply was. I still love the Deftones, but this is their worst effort to date. Their B-Sides & Rarities album was actually better than this.

There are others but I need to really think about selecting the best of the worst.

You may have saved me some money, I really liked the song Maps also, and bought the Machine ep as a result, and i like it. I planned on eventually getting more, but if Fever To Tell sucks, i'll avoid that one!

Well, don't go by my word.

The album was simply not for me. Maybe it will appeal more to your taste and listening habits than mine.

Or maybe it just sucks straight out.

You could always, give the album a test run by using another source to listen to the album. One that doesn't involve paying.

AWK - The Wolf -- His first album was pretty cool and a blast to listen to, albeit exquisitly repetitive, his second album just was no good.

Moby - His first cds were good but when he came out with "Black clouds are coming" and "We are all made of stars", the repetition got pretty intense and made me want to shoot myself for listening.

Slipknot - Their song "Before I forget" made me lose some respect for them. That was so freaking weak it pissed me off.

Mudvayne - "Happy" was a shitty song, I'm sorry.

"Rock Steady" by No Doubt.
Made me cry tears. Return of Saturn... Tragic Kingdom and their first Self-Titled album were upbeat Ska happy amazing albums... then there was Rock Steady. I shouldn't even have to say it. Gwen Stefani is still my goddess though.

Everything after ...and Justice for All by Metallica. I still listen to Metallica religiously, but their self-titled (Black), Load, ReLoad, etc. all blew.

Max - I did'nt really care for Teenage FBI much, and was disappointed that was the highlight of the album. I may eventually check out something more recent by them, but they went from my "must get every single recording from this band" to my "maybe if i see it cheap and have some extra money" list.

I forgot Metallica, i quit caring about them after their self-titled album. But by then i was losing interest in metal in general.

Mattp - you gotta take chances sometimes to get the really good stuff Most of my favorite bands right now started off as gambles on my part.

Kill em' All has, and forever will be my favorite album.

Anyways, I purchased two CD's yesterday, and I was blown away by their chunk factor:

Iced Earth - Dark Saga - I couldn't stand anything about the music. To slow, to weak, whatever. I didn't like them really in the first place, but a year or two ago I hated bands like Dragonforce and Blind Guardian, now I love those bands. So I figured maybe I'd give Iced Earth another chance ... instead I completely wasted my money.

Dream Evil - The Book of Heavy Metal - I won't say I hate this band, because from what I've read they've changed their style with all of their albums they've released so far, but I can't put into words how bad I found this one to be.

Horrible crap. These sit next to ManOWar "Hail to England" in my crappy section of my CD's.

So I'm not the only one that hates that song.

I'd have to say one of the only dissapointing (if not the only one) that I have would be...

Die Trying - Die Trying

I heard Oxgen's Gone and found it okay, so I went out and saw it for only 5 bucks so I was like "oh, what the hell". I listened to it and found the singer's voice damn near unbearable, to high for me. Only 2-3 songs were actually okay, the rest was complete shit to me.

I dunno, a song I heard today by Ben Folds disappointed me...

Never heard it before today, not sure if it's something new but it really wasn't one of his better tracks...

Panic! at the Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out

Meh. I was told that they were better than Fall Out Boy in every way... my friends raved about them... I wasn't impressed. I probably couldn't tell the difference between the two if they recorded the same song, they're identical in sound. The songs are catchy, but not something I want to listen to often.

Despite the fact that they had their roots in much better-sounding progressive rock, the band Journey as it existed with Steve Perry was still a force to be reckoned with in my opinion.

"Evolution", "Infinity", "Departure", "Escape", "Frontiers", and "Raised On Radio", these albums were musical masterpieces with great songs for the most part, what I often call the "Journey Six-Pack", and "Frontiers" alone will literally blow the hair off your nuts from end to end! Great albums by a great band...

Then came the hot steaming turd known as Trial By Fire...

I cannot even begin to explain to you just how much this album induced me to vomit. I mean, okay, Journey's done some saccharine-coated songs in the past, yes...but most of the pieces on this waste of good recording medium make "Open Arms" sound like "Stairway To Heaven". Seventy-five minutes of Steve boo-hoo-ing his lyrics out...shit, fucking Air Supply couldn't send my pancreas into shock like this album did. Ask my girlfriend, I am a sensitive and hopeless romantic, I actually like Kenny G, and I couldn't even handle this sickeningly sweet crap. And to add insult to injury, the few songs that did pick up and rock a little bit sounded like the worst of Bad English, and Steve Perry whom I always held in high regard as a great vocalist sung every piece on this album with all the croak and crack of someone who got out of bed at six in the morning after staying out partying all night. Overall, a major, major disappointment. Come on, guys, I know you were capable of making better music than this, really...

System of a down-Mesmerize/Hypnotize

Good concept, bad way of doing it. I seriously think both albums could've been slimmed down and turned into one great album. Instead of one solid, nice, and very good album, I get two average albums that while has its moments is filled with crap that dulls the experience.
