This problem is with SMB3 Workshop and the second one is for SMB3Map

This is like... two problems but put together it makes one great big frusterating problem that really pisses me off at times... First and formost, is that I don't really put too much into my maps already but sometimes I'll end up with objects on other maps or it'll totally RUIN a past map that i put a lot of hard work into designing. And yes I did set SMB3 Workshop to "Limit size" but thats just TOO restricting. I can hardly put anything onto a map at all. Any suggestions?

Now for problem two. On world 2 (as far as i know cuz its where i stopped testing BECAUSE of this problem) when your on the world map some places it won't let me walk. I did everything just as i did on the previous map and had no problems. What gives?

Prinnyhero,

On the world map, was everytime you walked horizontal? In other words, in every time you failed to make Mario walk, was it on a horizontal path?

OK then, it looks you're using the impassable horizontal road. Anyway, tile #49 "E.-W. Road C" is impassable. You should go in and make sure you use tile #45 "E.-W. Road A" instead, which is passable. Let's see if that works....

I think it's so they can have an image of a road, but without Mario actually being able to go across it. If you open an unhacked ROM and look at World 1 to the left of the Start Space, you'll see tile #49, the impassable road. They just wanted to have a road there, but without Mario actually being able to pass it.

In the first question, I've seen that problem before. I figured it out, but I'm having trouble remembering how I fixed it and what was causing it. I remember that putting certain objects in your level not supported by the tileset would cause something similar. And I know there's some complication between whether the game considers an object 3-byte or 4-byte. As for objects ending up on other levels despite not putting many in, I'm afraid I can't help you there.

In other words, take what I said with a grain of salt, but perhaps it could be helpful as you go along the process. Also, try reading the help file that comes along with the editor.

Where's hukka when you need him?

Let me throw another question at whoever might chech this post....

How would I go about changing the background graphics in a level lets say... level 1 world 1? I mean as in making it a black background as if its night time? Whenever i change the background to something black, all the graphics go crazy and become crap.

And to anyone who can solve my first problem, if you solve it i will SERIOUSLY say thankyou. No joke.

Yeah, I'm here. Though I haven't touched anything SMB3-related stuff for a long time so I'm starting to forget things...

As for the first question, the Limit size feature is kind of badly implemented
so it's not too helpful. Beneficii's answer was good. Are you sure you aren't adding too many objects, thus overwriting the next level's data?

And as for the background graphics, there are certain objects that are used to change the background. See how other levels use them. I seem to recall said object must be the first object in the leveldata, and located at the top left corner of the level.

Finally, everyone please note that my hukka@despammed.com email address has been defunct for months now, so you can now only reach me at hukka nic fi (add the punctuation yourself).
