I'm sorry for complaining but some things are getting out of hand. If there's an otherwise reasonable explanation of why these problems can't be solved, please let me know.

Board problems:

-Newb threads that the moderators won't take care of despite their new rules. Really, it shouldn't be that hard. No more than one, simple click of the mouse. You didn't need to tell anyone you were closing a thread. Just search and kill. People can always take a second look in the trash.

-Blatent cloning of once-fun threads. (i.e the Chuck Norris crap)

It's not that I can't accept these problems because I have for the past 1.5 years and I've yet to see anything remotely productive come of it. I'm seeing a large decline in intelligent members and it's scaring the hell outta me.

My final suggestion would be to do something about it. It's ridiculous.

They probably do that to simply avoid that the person who made the thread make another thread and ask "Who closed my thread?" (Used the word 'thread' way too much here)

It happens.

The whole thread cloning thing...just happened today. And that is it. I don't really recall this happening yesterday. Or the day before. Or the day before that. My point is that it really doesn't happen that often.

You can't really solve the whole thread cloning thing. Aside from suggesting that the person who made the thread to search the forum if there was a one before it. If you mean why hasn't no one closed it. No active staff are available to do so.

I don't know. A part of me is all for cracking down stupidity. But you really don't offer any good examples nor a good reason to actually get worried about it.

As for overall intelligence of the board. You can't change that. You can't ban every 'stupid' person you see fit if they don't cross that line set by the rules. I really don't see no reason to get worked up over this now. Maybe it is me but I really haven't noticed a big decline in intelligence in the board.

Plus things have been done. I mean the entire SMW Hacking Forum was trashed and started from the beginning. That is the most recent example on how staff dealt with stupidity.

I really want to join you and scream out 'stupid people are taking over the board'

But, that really isn't the case at the moment. Not from my viewpoint.

If it isn't "THA CASE", then what is?

"Who closed my thread?" threads shouldn't be made nonetheless. Why? It's not like they can or need to do anything about it if it's closed. They should PM someone about it.

Endless questions that haven't been researched beforehand deserve to die out. I mean, at least after the newbies understand the solution to their question, there's no need to keep the threads around any longer.

Your point or your post isn't very understandable. So I'll just assume a few things to get my point across.

It is true and quite obvious that there is no need to have 'Who closed my thread?' threads but that wasn't isn't the point you brought.

I find no fault at all for a Mod to post in a thread 'I am going to close this for [insert reason] or 'I'm going to close this' then to close it.

Sure, the thread maker can PM someone. But guess what. They will most likely PM the wrong person. And while I can't speak for the staff, I assume that Mod A would not really like a PM concerning a meaningless thread when Mod B was the one to close it.

Surely, all Mod A can do is ask around and check who closed it then tell the person. But that is simply doing moe work than necessary. Had Mod B posted in the thread "I'm going to close this". Mod B would've been the one to recieve the PM. Thus eliminating the need to have a middle person.

No comment. You have a point but it depends on the situation and such at hand.

How would you like it if I trashed this right now with no explanation?

Not very happy, right?

Staff avoids problems by posting why before a thread is closed. Nobody will question it, and more importantly, another staffer won't open it thinking that it was an accident the thread was closed. What's the problem with that anyway? What's your deal with it?

Furthermore, if you have a problem with a thread, you can PM a staffer about it. You complain that if someone's thread gets closed they should take that action, so why don't you? Sometimes things slip past us at first glance, we are human. A friendly PM to one of us, and we'll gladly take a look at the thread in question.

And like Thoughtless said, I haven't seen "clones" except for the Chuck Norris one, which was promptly closed. Again, you have a problem, talk to a staffer.

Lastly, not everything goes the way you want it, that includes threads. If you don't like one, that doesn't mean it should be closed, and vice versa. If there is a thread that you don't like, that staffers have posted in and thus don't think it should be closed, just ignore it. You don't have to look or post in it, you know.

"Do something about it" is just stupid. You could do something yourself in talking to someone on staff, and you could have solved your own problems without making this thread to whine.

Not sure if I should close this or not. I won't for now, but if any other staffer feels differently, go for it.
