Anyone else stoked about this? Pink Floyd is like... the greatest ever, and now Gilmour has a solo album.
I got the album yesterday and am currently enjoying it every bit. The track listing is as follows: Castellorizon On an Island The Blue Take a Breath Red Sky at Night This Heaven Then I Close My Eyes Smile A Pocketful of Stones Where We Start So.... anyone? |

Yeah I'm a Pink Floyd fan, and I'm shocked you didn't know Gilmour had already had solo albums out as early as 1986. I forgot the name of it, but that album wasn't too bad.
I really don't think he's that great a song writer though. Waters was the brains behind the operation. I dunno, perhaps his new solo album could be good. Water's solo albums make me want to gouge my ears out b/c of the style he adopted. I.e. the style of doing minimalistic music which is heard on The Final Cut and then carried over to his solo albums. Either way, Floyd was best when they were all four members together. They were way more creative. |

Heard it in my friendly neighborhood indie record store.
If you love Pink Floyd, you'll love this album, because it's practically the same damn thing. |

As Dr Jay so kindly said, it's practically the same thing.
(don't get me wrong, Roger Waters is my hero ) |

Everyone in Pink Floyd released solo-albums...which seem to be better than the Waters/Post-Waters era on their merits. Personally, I've always been more favorable to the Barret era Floyd as those were the songs I grew up recognizing and the songs I enjoyed most during my teen years.
This recent Gilmour album kicks some major ass. It is nice, jazzy and great shit to mellow to. |
