As he walked through the downtown streets, he couldn't help but feel rather bored. He had grown tired of manipulating people's minds from afar. What he really pined for right now was some physical manipulation of the flesh. It seemed like ages since he had had a good fight, and that's just what he hoped to run into. Though, he had to admit, fighting a mere human wouldn't prove to be a very trying challenge...What he needed was something supernatural to pit himself against.

The cold night wind blew the tail of his long coat this way and that, though he seemed unaffected by the harsh weather. His choice of attire was dark, as always, and helped him blend in with the night. If he wanted to, he could make himself invisible to humans simply by focusing the negative energy of his being in one place, thus, ridding himself of his human host. However, he preferred to travel amongst the humans, it made scaring them that much more fun.

Turning right, he headed down a dark alley. No doubt trouble would be brewing there, for humans always seemed to choose the most obvious places to start a fight. Looking around, it seemed like no one was there. Just as he was about to turn and leave, he saw a figure stir in the shadows. A malicious grin spread across his handsome features as he turned and waited to see if the being would show itself.

((Sorry this post isn't the best, Prankster...))

Azrael sat shivering in the alley, drawing his jacket close to him for what little warmth it could offer him. He was used to wandering around, trying to find somewhere to rest, Finding little warmth anywhere. He hunched deeper into the heat that surrounded the inside of his jacket. He glanced up suddenly, as he felt the presence of something out of the ordinary enter the alley way. A slight frown slid across his face as he tried to locate whoever or whatever had entered the place he had chosen to rest for the night.

When he spotted the being standing in the alley watching him, he stood up, his frown deepening. He could tell that whatever the being was, it was watching him. "What do you want?" He asked his voice raspy from not only the cold, but tiredness too. He didn't know what It wanted with him, but he hoped it wouldn't take long. He hated being disturbed, even if it was only from sitting and shivering.

He almost felt bad for the man sitting there, grasping his jacket to him for dear life. Apparently, while Jared was unaffected by the cold, it was taking its toll on others that roamed the streets. Perhaps he shouldn't challenge this being...then agian...

Staring down at the man with his piercing emerald gaze, the malicious smile on his face grew even wider. "Oh, nothing in particular. Just wondering what you're doing here in this alley, all alone." Bright eyes glinted in the dark as he spoke in his menacing tone. Perhaps he would anger him to the point of producing a fight. Then, again, he did look rather tired..he might have to get his entertainment somewhere else.

Azrael narrowed his eyes as he listened to him speak. He had been antagonized before, and could tell when someone was trying to instigate a fight. He scowled at this person who had intruded upon his sleep. He had dealt with drunks who had thought he was some weak homeless human lying in the streets, trying to beg money during the day, and find what little shelter they could during the night. How sadly mistaken these people were. He did not like to fight, but when faced with having to, he gave it his all. Which for those unfortunate to push him to his limits, was more than any being would have thought him capable of.

"What makes you think I'm alone," Azrael asked, his quiet voice cutting through the night like a dagger that had just been sharpened, his narrowed eyes gleaming silver in the dark.

A deep chuckle rose from his stomach and sliced through the cold night air. "Do not attempt to play mind games with me. Look at you, you are alone, uness of course, you would like to prove to me otherwise..." What a sad attempt at trickery! Being a demon, he had a sixth sense for when people were lying to him. Or at least, he thought he did. As he laughed, his ivory fangs glinted with saliva. Though he often appeared human, he could manipulate his host body at any time to have it produce things such as horns, wings, fangs, and whatever else he could think of. He doubted this being could do anything like that.

He knew this man was no human, there was something bizarre about his piercing silver gaze. Just what Jared had been hoping for... What this being failed to realize was that Jared was unlike anything that had ever approached him before. He was no drunk looking to make an ass of himself, no. He was merely a demon looking for a sparring partner. Emerald eyes began to glow unnaturally in the night, looking like miniature green lanterns floating in the darkness as he egged the man on to fight him.

His face darkened in annoyance, as he could tell that he wasn't going to be left alone in peace. He scowled as he distinguished the fangs the being had. His annoyance deepened as this being attempted to frighten him. "You are making a mistake, antagonizing me," Azrael uttered quietly, as he tensed, preparing for the fight he knew he would not be able to escape. This malignant being was taking away from his well needed few hours of sleep.
He could tell this man wasn't a drunk trying to pick a fight with the first innocent bystander he saw. He could feel power radiating from this being like heat from a fire. 'Maybe I should just walk away,' he thought to himself. But as he looked around he knew there would be no backing out of this one. Not only was the being blocking the only entrance out, but Azrael wasn't sure he'd be fast enough to get away, even if he did manage to get past him.

The smug look never absent from his pale face, he let another stomach-turning cackle escape from his throat. Falling backwards to lean against the wall, he had a nonchalent air about him. Quite often it seemed that he knew exactly what he was doing, and yet, he was unpredictable [at times, even to himself].

Him? Making a mistake? Ohoho! He let out another deep chuckle at Azrael's words. Staring at the fingernails of his right hand, he made them grow into long, sharp claws by the mere use of his will to do so. "Fine with me...What do you want to do? Fight? Run? Stand here and shoot the shit for a bit?" He let out another small laugh. Maybe what he wanted wasn't actually a fight, but conversation with a being who possessed more than half a brain, unlike most humans seemed to.

Azrael watched through the slits in his narrowed eyes as Jared leaned against the wall. A caliginous look spread across his face as he observed Jared grow claws, with apearant ease. The smugness on Jared's face irritated Azrael's very being. He wanted to wipe the look off of his face so sufficiently that Jared would never under-estimate any other being ever again. But years of mistakes, and control, stopped him from doing so. For now, he would try to talk his way out of this. "Your methods of intimidation won't work on me," he growled furociously. "And you're far from funny, if that's what you're attempting to be."

A hurt look spread over his deceitful face as he pretended to pout. "Never said I was trying to be intimidating ole' chap. Just trying to strike up a bit of conversation..." As he said the word 'strike', he snapped the fingers on his right hand and a ball of fire appeared, quite controlled, in the palm of his hand. The silver of his bracelets shimmered as the fire danced about. He could tell Azrael was troubled by the cold, and he probably wished he could summon the power of fire...Maybe now he would show a bt more respect.

No doubt Jared was now becoming a bit of a pest to the man before him. He could tell that not too far beneath the man's composed exterior, he itched to do battle with Jared and show him just what he could do. Jared did not underestimate Azrael, in fact, he even saw him as a challenge. He hoped that Azrael would chat with him for a bit, though his mind remained focused on fighting.

Azrael's eyes flickered to the fire that danced in the palm of Jared's hand with longing. He hadn't felt any actual warmth in a long time. Since the summer, in fact, when the heat of night was almost as bad as during the day, and didn't offer the comfort that fire did. Although the he longed for the fire in Jared's hand, he knew that Jared was just trying to show off. "Typical" he muttered to himself. "Just typical."

He shivered again, as a particularly cold blast of wind blew by, but he didn't try to pull his jacket any closer, knowing that it was a futile attempt.

His weasle-like eyes glittered with apparent glee. It was horribly obvious that the flame was taunting Azrael like a moth that longed to come closer... The only reason he did not was that his pride was too great. Now he was the cause of his own suffering. Jared was feeling rather generous tonight, though he snickered as the harsh wind flew past like a thousand daggers coated in liquid ice, his long coat contorting on the powerful zephyr.

With a snap of his long fingers, the flame disappeared. He made sure to extinguish it after the gust of wind, so that Azrael knew he had cancelled it on purpose.

"What was that? Typical of what exactly?" he asked with a chortle as he rekindled the flame in his hand, taunting and further agrivating the man before him.

Anger glittered in his silver eyes, like light reflecting off of a mirror. He knew that Jared was toying with his weaknesses. "Its typical of your type, always toying, flaunting what you have in hopes of gaining some semblance of pleasure in your bland life. How pathetic," Azrael spat at him, every word underlined with malice, as his hate for Jared grew with every mounting moment. He had just met him, but already he could hardly stand looking in Jared's face with out a crimson wave of choler overwashing his very being.

It didn't seem possible, but Azrael's face turned an even deeper hue of vermillion as he spoke loaded words to Jared through clenched teeth. What fun this was! Angering this being to the point of almost exploding right where he sat! Let's see if we can't take it farther...he thought to himself.

"My kind?" He scoffed derisively at the very thought. "What is it I am flaunting?" He asked in a sinister tone of mock-innocence as he twiddled the flame between his fingers, his pale face illuminated by the orange glow.

"Oh, you mean this" he said as he held the flame out before him. "How rude of me, you mean you can't do this? Is that why you're shivering there like a stray dog? Well then, allow me to help you out ole' chap..." The grin pasted to his face seemed to grow a mile a minute as the flame in his hand evolved into a raging inferno that only he controlled. Bringing his arm back, he threw the enormous fireball straight at Azrael as if he were the pitcher for Hell's very own baseball team.

Azrael's eye's widened in shock as Jared threw the fire ball at him. It wasn't that he wasn't expecting an attack, because he was. It was that the onslaught came so suddenly that he barely had time to react. As he dodged the fireball, it grazed him on the side. Grimacing in pain, his heart started race as he remembered an experience he had had similiar to this one.

It was a rainy day, and it had been a long one. He had worked hard and his body longed to collapse in a bed, even if it was one that felt like a stiff peice of wood. He decided to shorten the length of the walk to where his room at the inn he was staying in was. He turned down the alley and walked right into a fight. he wasn't as experienced back then and he was definitely more foolish. He jumped right into the fight, wasting all his energy in the beggining of the fight. His opponent had won that day. He had ended the fight abruptly by throwing a ball of febrific fire at Azrael

Azrael tried to calm his pounding heart. 'This isn't going to be like that,' he thought to himself viciously, as he rubbed his scorched arm. "That was pretty sordid of you," Azrael hissed through his teeth, as he prepared to retaliate. He inched closer to Jared, hoping to distract him by talking long enough so he could execute his plan. "You know what you're flaunting. You're flaunting what you have that I want. Like a lord flaunting his power in front of the peasants who work his land." Azrael scoffed derisively. "It's pathetic"

He chuckled as Azrael barely dodged the flame headed at him. The fire disappeared into the cold, stone wall of the damp building behind him, its last little flames licking the air before vanishing to darkness.

"Surprised you, did I?"

It seemed Azrael's mind was wandering to some far-off place, rather than focusing on the battle at hand that was quickly unfolding. How foolish. Despite the pain shooting up his arm, he was still able to make nasty comments with that sharp tongue of his. Jared could tell he was just trying to bide his time until he could think of some witty attack to execute. He would wait, for a challenge was what he had been searching for, right?

Retaining his smug expression, he lowered his right arm to his side as a dagger started to push right through the flesh of his palm, hidden from Azrael's view. The silver blade had a series of holes forming a line down the middle, while the handle bore demonic-looking horns sprouting from its sides. Grasping the blood-coated blade tightly in his hand, he continued chatting with Azrael as if he were clueless to his litle game.

"Sordid, eh? I thought I was being rather lavishing by giving you what you wanted...I guess I could always aim better this time, incase you still find yourself cold..." A medium-sized sphere of flame appeared in his left hand as he smirked and threw it at Azrael's front.

Azrael dived low, rolling to his feet near Jared, his sword that had been previously hidden now visible in his hand as he craftily dodged the fireball. " That's fairly nice of you, but I'd rather not, if you know what I mean." He replied back to Jared as he swung his sword at Jared's midsection, trying to buy precious seconds to formulate a plan of attack.

A disappointed scowl stained his pale face as he once again watched the fire disappear into darkness.

"Well you're no fun, are you? Oh well, don't let it be said I didn't do the least I could do..." Bringing his hand from behind his back, he stopped Azrael's blade with his own dagger, and kicked him square in the face sending him flying backwards.

"Hah! You're going to have to do better than that!"

Azrael leaped to his feet from his position on the ground where Jared had sent him sprawling. He crouched down into a defensive position, thinking about what the best manuvuer for attack should be. He suddenly lunged forward, spinning on his heel in one direction, making as if he was going to swing his sword at him from the right. At the last moment he pivoted on his foot, bring his sword up and slamming the hilt of it into Jared's face. "How's that?" Azrael growled at him as he sprang back preparing for Whatever onslaught Jared would execute. His eyes were narrowed in focus, watching his opponent with the keenness of a cat watching its prey. This was not a battle he would lose, not if he had anything to say about it.

Anticipating Azrael would make another slash at him, he readied his dagger to meet the blade of his sword. Instead of feeling the pressure of another blade, however, he felt his jaw forced out of place from the hilt of Azrael's sword. The nerve! Slowly, he brought his left hand up and popped his jaw back in place, all the while glaring at his opponent. His once cool gaze now shifted to a deadly warning of bright yellow, showing how agitated he had become with that last move.

"Ooh, yes. Much better. I hope you're proud of yourself, because that's the last mistake you will ever make," he hissed cruely, the grip on his dagger tightening as it grew into a full-fledged sword that glowed an unnatural black. Running towards him, he made it look like he was about to slash him in the stomach, when suddenly, he disappeared...

Azrael's eye's narrowed in suprise as Jared disapeared right in front of him. He whirled around frantically trying to spot this sinister being. 'C'mon, Concentrate," He thought to himself as he tried not to panick. He closed his eyes, taking a deep, trying to calm himself down enough to think.'C'mon pull some of your own tricks out of your sleeve,' he told himself, as he considered all of his options. He focused his thoughts on one thing, locating Jared's presence. He centered his thoughts on finding the spark of power that belong to noone but Jared. He frowned as he had difficulties finding it. "Why can't I find it," he gorwled angrily to himself. "I usually have no problem."
