It's been awhile since I've really gotten into an anime recently, but I think I may have a new favorite. My friend showed me the first 5 episodes of this series yesterday, and I was absolutely blown away.

Plot Summary: Kenzou Tenma, a Japanese brain surgeon in Germany, had it all: incredible skill at his work, a rich and beautiful fiancee, and a promising career at his hospital. However, after becoming disenchanted by hospital politics, he chose to save the life of a young boy who got shot in the head over the life of the mayor. As a result he lost the support of the hospital director, as well as his position in the hospital and his fiance. A short time later, the hospital director and the doctors that replaced him were murdered, and once again he was catapulted back onto the top. But as the chief suspect of the murders, Tenma did not get a easy life. As a matter of fact, it seems that the boy he saved was much more than he had appeared to be... Now to clear his name and to correct his past mistake, Tenma must get to the bottom of these and other murders, and investigate the truth of the Monster who is behind all of this.

(And look at the votes, 122 to 1)

It definitely has tons of plot twists that kept it really interesting, and it just seemed very intense at times. You'll really get to know Tenma, and feel pretty sorry for him at times. I guessed a few of the plot twists, and who characters were, but the plot still seemed to go in perfectly together.

It's 70+ episodes, and my friend said it -never- slows down or gets boring. He says if it weren't for his obsessive love for Maison Ikkoku, it would be his all time favorite anime.

Definintely check this one out.

Yea, Monster rocks. I've been searching for a full version of the opening, but to no avail. I DO have the full ending song, though. I think you should take out that summary by anime news network because I think if people watched it without knowing what to expect, it would make it that much more exciting. Oh yea, and I wouldn't really rely on ANN's ratings. I just use it to get info on titles and shit.

So yea, Monster's an awesome anime which seems to be the epitome of suspense and drama that I've seen.
