30 pounds is REALLY nice progress, especially for just 2 and a half months. Keep it up, man!

It's good to see that you're staying active and keeping up with everything, also. Too easy to try to mess with your weight and wind up ruining your entire lifestyle.

Good job, and good luck.

Congratulations, Elmo! We knew you could do it.

It's A-OK to give yourself a break while on vacation. You've formed healthy eating habits, and you'll get right back to them when you return to your normal routine. Thanks for keeping us updated on your continued success.

It's been another month so... here goes...

Starting Weight - 393 lbs
Last Months' weight - 363lbs
Current weight - 360.5lbs
Monthly Weight loss - 2.5lbs
Total Weightloss - 32.5lbs
Weightloss needed for 10% Goal - 7.5lbs

Disaster struck the day before my holiday. I'd gained 2 lbs on the scales, but had no idea why. Demoralised I went on holiday, met someone and had... well a fling *blushes*, I thought it was something more, but she dumped me the second I got back. I felt dejected and fell down the slippery sloap back to excess.. or so I thought. Seems that the endless Tropical ice teas I'd had at Starbucks and the first decent taste of chocolate for months had had zero effect at the scales... in fact I'd lost 4 1/2 pounds!!!
As for my lovelife, well.. I thought thee was someone else on the horizon, someone local, but I suspect she's met someone else. Ah well. At 25 stones 10lbs, I'm almost as light as I have been for a very long time (when I was with my fiancee and on medication, I was at my lowest on 25 stones 5) . So, I'm a little hopeful, a little scared at how willing I was to slip back to my old ways, but wiser for the wear. I'm STILL too heavy for the bathroom scales at work to measure me though.... 30lbs too heavy... ah well.

Ah.... good to see you've learned that a little bit of a lapse or treat certainly isn't the end of the world.

I've been naughty this week myself. But I'm still losing weight so that's good My eating is starting to become a little irregular, but I think it's cause I'm tired.

Glad to hear it's all working out for you too. Keep at it, it sounds like you're on track despite some things. Keep yourself working on it and you should be fine. Like I've already said -- if you slip up, just get right back on track again, and it sounds like you are.

The big question is -- how are you feeling? I found I feel a whole lot better... how are you feeling? More energy and such??

Damn, Elmo, you're doing really good! I hadn't noticed the updates for a while, suffice it to say... ._.

Here's the thing, though: You've lost 32.5 pounds. We're rooting for you, but soon the work will become a little harder for you, and you'll really have to be strict with your diet and exercise plans. Keep that in mind, because once you lose about ten percent of what you have, the weight to lose starts getting harder and harder. You can do it, though! I mean, look how far you've come already...

Yeah, I can certainly attest to it getting trickier. You might also reach one of those horrible nasty "plateau" thingies -- but if you get one of those, that's easy.. you just stick to doing the right thing and eventually you kinda get over the plateau and keep losing weight.

I'm finding I need to do more exercise than I used to. But on the upside, I'm finding it easier to do that exercise too. And more excercise (depending) means more muscle, and more muscle helps you burn fat

Wow, Elmo... You've gone a far way since the last time I heard from you, and from the looks of it, you've come twice as far back. It's great to see you doing so well in your quest, and even better that you have so much support for you here. I'm happy to see it.

I wish you the firmest of blessings in your endeavours. Good luck, ya mushy bastard. XD

I took a little look at what you're doing here, and although I've never had a problem with weight, addictions have been a bit of an issue for me from time to time, so I have an idea of what you're going through.

One suggestion I'd like to make is to start weightlifting (take it EASY AT FIRST. please. too many people overdo it at first and ruin it by association, don't worry about looking like a sissy, at least you're not hurting yourself, strengthen your tendons and develop proper form first, then worry about being a stud). The reason I suggest this is that weightlifting benefits you by statically burning calories, also, as a male, it gives you a more vigorous feel about yourself, being stronger is definitely a noticeable and powerful confidence builder.

Say the typical person needs about 2000 calories a day, bodybuilders need something closer to 3500 just to maintain their current build, and even higher to assist in the rebuilding of muscle tissue, and even more to keep up with the large amount of calories burnt just lifting. Add that to cardio and you're well on your way.

Plus it maykes ya look sexsay =D. (if you do decide to start, expect some weight gain initially, you'll most likely build muscle faster than you burn off weight for the first couple weeks)

ANother month, another weigh in...

Starting Weight - 393 lbs
Last Months' weight - 360.5lbs
Current weight - 358lbs
Monthly Weight loss - 2.5lbs
Total Weightloss - 35lbs
Weightloss needed for 10% Goal - 5lbs

I'm VERY surprised I lost anything to be honest, this has been a month from hell. Work has been nothing short of nightmarish, and one time I caved in and had a chocolate bar just to perk me up a little. I have also been eating far more ice cream than I should have, but food wise those are my only real luxuries (anything else sweet is the low fat-makes-me-fart-a-lot variety.
On the lovelife front, well there are..complications I'd rather not get into on here, but I also met someone local, well not really 'met'. Saw her online would be more accurate, however as she was so reluctant to meet in RL, we broke up for a couple of weeks, but now we're giving things another shot. She might still run a mile once she sees me in RL though, so who knows

Thanks for your suggestions... Weight lifing? Hmm, that's not me, not only that but since a mishap at work I have a very weak shoulder and it would probably pop out of it's socket again if I started lifting weights. How am I feeling in general? Exhausted, but it's more mental exhaustion than anything else. Physically I find I have more energy.
I think I've hit a little plateau, but I am keeping at it, I had a 2 week break from weighwatchers due to a change in my work pattern and I COULD have tailed off then, but I've stuvck at it. Here's hoping.

I'm very amazed to see you (or anyone that would) do this!
You've inspired me to get off my ass and do the same. I hope you reach your goal, but if you don't, the fact that you're trying this hard is better than anything else. I give my best of luck and support.

P.S. Play some more DDR!

An Update? I write this entry battered and bloodied from the war I pledged on waging in the first post of this, my own personal "War on terror".
and my friends, at the moment, I'm losing. I weigh 2.5 pounds more than my last entry, being on a vicious sea-saw which saw me lgain 4 pounds one week, only to lose 3;5 the next and then gain 2 pounds more. It hasn;t helped that the depression cycle of my manic depression has knocked me for six, while I'm fighting it for dear life (and it is for my life I'm waging this war).

This is a bad time, rock bottom isn;t far away, but I keep on trying, perhaps I can salvage some self esteem from this.

It's normal for weight to fluctuate a bit too, (I know mine certainly does) so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

As I've said so many times in this thread that I'm sure it's become cliche, just keep at it. Keep doing the right things, keep exercising every day, drinking lots of water, eating lots of veggies, etc.

I know sometimes it doesn't feel like you're getting anywhere, but if you keep at it it all works out.... it just likes to test your patience and your resolve along the way

Good job with it so far
Cynthia

Given how much progress you've made, you shouldn't get discouraged if you gain a couple of pounds one week. It just gives you more incentive to keep doing what you're doing, because even if the weight's just fluctuating a little bit, you're still giving it your best shot.

Yea, I hate it when that happens. First week on this "diet" of mine....I lost like 9 pounds. I haven't checked my weight in about a week and I'm not sure I want to. I mean, I was sick, so I really didn't work out...urg...a pain in the arse this is...really...
