I'm glad for your weight loss, but maybe you should cut down on the effort a little bit if it's causing you so much grief.

But anyway, I'm proud.

It's the manic depression that's getting me down not the weight loss. But thanks anyway.

I know how you feel mate, getting mugged can put you on a right downer. Getting mugged affected my personality; I hope you deal with it in the right way, that is deal with it naturally, accept that you will feel humiliated and don't just try to repress it because it will screw you up in the end.

Good luck with the weight loss. After you start drinking enough water, your body will crave it and you will be able to drink more water. I pretty much have to drink all the time these days .

Keep it up mate.

Well that's good that you're still losing weight slowly. It's not good to lose it fast. My earth science teacher told us when I had him that he always carries no more than five dollars with him all the time. So maybe next time you could start carrying less money with you. So if you need money you could just go to an ATM machine or bank. Just a suggestion on that as I not sure how much you had in american dollars.

Yes, losing weight slowly is much better than losing it quickly. There's the instant gratification thing with losing it fast; but it tends not to stay off as easily of you do that

Slow and steady is the way to go

As for chocolate, it's not all bad, but you do have to be careful with it I tend to buy little itty bitty bits of it, but make sure it's REALLY good stuff (so, one truffle from a boutique chocolatier), and only do it every now and then. I have a little bit once a week as a treat for being good the rest of the time. Besides, at $80 a kg, I can't really afford much more anyways.

Oh, I'm also now notorious at work for sitting there with one piece of chocolate melting in my mouth going "mmmmmm" and pulling weird faces The other chocolate-lovers at work get it, but every one else looks at me like I'm doing something perverse and/or crazy. Hey, it's my one piece of chocolate, I'm going to REALLY enjoy it

On the early morning news today, they had something on there that men eating dark chocolate can add years to their health if they don't diet still. Something along those lines as I don't really remember the whole thing that was said about it.

Nice progress... still headed in the right direction, and 6 lbs. in a week's good. I've been kind of stalled at 10-12 lbs. total, just due to schedule issues throwing everything off.

Ok.. where was I...

Mood - Surprised

I'm surprised as I made no extra special effort over Easter, I'm just continuing to watch my food intake, trying my best not to slip backwards in the debauchery of the past (i.e Eating Chocolate).
This weekend is going to be difficult as it's my Mum's 50th Birthday party so avoiding not just large quantities of food, but trying to talk everyone OUT of buying be calorie rich alcoholic drinks will be tough.
In other news I've made some plans for the future. I joined up with a dating site and while I've not met anyone yet - I've made a lot of friends, I'm going to a meet in Kent in June. The day afterwards I'm also going to Paris, because, well I can and perhaps I see going to the most romantic city in the world as a way of coming to terms with my past. Oh I'm also going to try and catch "We Will Rock you" in the West end too.
Believe me, making any sort of plans for the future is a BIG thing for me!

NE ways, in the words of my blog, until next time,

Mischief Managed.

Dude, I soooooo feel ya. I was kinda overweight. I tried losing weight on my own and that was pretty harsh. YOU are braver than I. I couldn't stand having a weight watchers thing. I'll admit, I got a little ebarrassed when I talked about my weight.

GOOD LUCK!

Keep a drink (of your choosing) in your hand where possible. Most people (generally) will see that you already have a drink and won't press the issue.

But don't stress if you do have one or two -- dieting isn't about depriving yourself of fun in the short term, it's a lifestyle change. And nobody said that that lifestyle change means you can't have some fun on special occasions

Just don't drink all the red sugary raspberry vodka in the place

And make sure you make up for your fun later by doing a little bit extra exercise and/or skipping something naughty later

I've not updated for 2 weeks....

Starting Weight - 393 lbs
Last Fortnight's weight - 372lbs
Current weight - 370lbs
Bi- Weekly Weight Loss - 2lbs
Total Weightloss - 23lbs
Weightloss needed for 10% Goal - 17lbs

The party went REALLY well, I offset the amount of food and alcohol I ate by dancing a LOT - all the really embarrasing ones, the Cha-cha slide included. The intensity of these dances probably helped me burn all the calories off. Recently though I feel I'm slipping gently to my old ways. Work has become exceptionally stressful, and that coupled with some depression has made me stretch the rules somewhat - I even had a chocolate bar (my first for a month). That said the fact I've observed the slippage is a good thing as I'm resolving to do something about it.

I'm going to a friend's house in a couple of weeks to de-stress, although the alcohol I'll drink (I drink like a fish when I'm there, posibily cause they do) will max out my points totals, but I think I NEED to relax or I'll blow this diet big style.

Overseas Taryn?

I Wish!

I do miss my friends a LOT, I feel a bit cut off cause of work. I'm sorry for not posting as much as before.

NE ways, till next time.

lol... you mentioned Paris! That's overseas! I take it that's something still in the works?

Don't stress too much over the booze and stuff. Make sure you do a bunch of stuff when you're there that's fun. Is there anywhere fun to go for a walk and go sightseeing? Go clubbing and do a bunch of dancing

And if you slip, just get back to it again I do. I'm not exactly focused, but I'm getting there with things myself, slowly -- keep at it and you will too. And make sure you have lots of fun when you can.

Like I said before, this isn't some short term thing, this is a change of lifestyle. You shouldn't deprive yourself of fun stuff, it's okay to slip up sometimes. Going out and having fun and still being okay is part of the learning curve. You'll work out the "rules" of the game and how far you can go with things, and then it's all a matter of fine-tuning.

It's been nearly a month now, time for an update :-

Starting Weight - 393 lbs
Last Months' weight - 370lbs
Current weight - 363lbs
Monthly Weight loss - 7lbs
Total Weightloss - 30lbs
Weightloss needed for 10% Goal - 10lbs

This month has continued to be stressful but I've eaten a bit of everything in moderation, and the weight is still coming off. I still don't notice much of a change even though I've lost nearly 2 stone and I'm about a sixth of the way to my ideal BMI. My trip to Paris will (hopefully) be next week depending on how expensive it will be to extend my trip to London onwards to Paris. I intend to get just a liiiiitle drunk so I will blow some points on Alcohol, but I won't get stressed if I go over. Sod it. I need a break!

30lbs lost....excellent job! You stuck to it, and you did great! I actually just read this whole thread now, and I must say, it takes a lot of guts to admit something like that.

I don't really know what else to say....keep going, and grats
