Unpredictable. Watch your backs. Or not. Whichever. I want Metal Gear Solid 4 so badly.

Meh, I really dislike getting pinched so I'll just slip a green shirt on before I go to school.

Nothing special about this particular holiday. I'm still going to school.

Today, i wore green, plaid green, Here in the US, there are less people wearing green than people not wearing green. In the US, it's just a time to get drinks, buy corned beef and cabbage, and buy little cookies with green 4-leaf clovers on them for the kids...

Sadly, we didn't end up making it to the Irish pub in Oxford. One of the girls in the house was playing/singing at another pub tonight, and as it turns out, the pubs close at 11, even on nights such as tonight...so that was disappointing.

Considering the shirt I'm wearing now, maybe I should save my "IRELAND" shirt for Cinco de Mayo... (ahem)

Well, that's just how it is in England. Actually, it's a bit better than it was, in that now (as of this past summer) some pubs can be open whenever they want. The thing is, to do that the pub needs to get a special license, which I guess most don't want to do. After all, they're used to closing at 11, and they'd rather close at that time with the normal customers than have to stay open later, even for more money.

Doesn't "close at 11" mean "drinking at home at 11:05"?

I wore greeeeeeeeeeen today. Just the shirt, though. I... don't have anything else that fits a winter day.

Well, actually, not really, usually. Most of the drinking done in England is done with friends in pubs, and not nearly as much at home. The thing people will often do is drink a lot in the period before the bars close. That's one of the reasons for the possibility of extending hours longer: thousands of REALLY drunk people were pouring onto the streets at 11 PM.

I'm Irish, but I don't really care too much about St. Pat's, probably because I'm not that into drinking. I like to have my beer at bowling, a pint when we go to the local brew pub for dinner, and a mixed drink or margarita every now and then, but that's really about it. At any rate, I knew I didn't want to go out anywhere. I live in a drinking town with a football problem, and because St. Pat's fell on a Friday this year, I knew that downtown was going to be insane. (People here are hardcore. Some take the entire day off and get up at the buttcrack of dawn to start drinking, and then they go to one of the bars that opens at 6 a.m. and stay there all day long.) I wanted to do something special, though, just for the hell of it, so I wound up going to Wegmans and picking up some interesting-sounding prepared food for dinner. Best. Crab cakes. Ever. Yeah, I went to the bar next door and got all-you-can-drink Guinness. I drank there for a few hours, came back home for a little bit, then went back and drank more. Finished it off with a shot of whiskey then came back. I apparantly started to play WoW while waiting for my friend to call, but then passed out. (Grey-- I failed you. ) I woke up to his like 5th call at 2:30 or so, and then we went back to his place (he was leaving the party he was calling about) and played Halo and drank some more beer. Then I came back home, crossing an eerily abandoned campus. I didn't see a single person.

Wow. Now that's hardcore. I did put a six-pack of Magic Hat No. 9 in the fridge, but I didn't feel like drinking any, and then I fell asleep in front of the TV and was not in a beery mood when I woke up sometime after 1 (before I made my previous post...yes, I've been awake since then ).

I forgot to mention another reason I didn't want to go out. Randy works in town and bikes home, and he told me that town smelled like barf. It's not surprising (one of my friends once thought it would be fun to do a photo documentary of the puke puddles around the dorms), but it's still gross.

Hahaha, you should have seen my spanish teacher yesterday. She wore a green sweatsuit, green shoes, green make-up, and wrote everything in green on the whiteboard... it was quite a sight. And she topped it all off by telling us she isn't a drop of irish.

Hilarious.

Yesterday, I wore red. Luckly, I did not get pinched because I never left the house yesterday and my parents seem to forget it was St. Patrick's Day yesterday.

Best Paddy's Day ever, except for the fact tht I WAS WORKING!!!

See I work for AOL and they only service the UK, and since the UK doesn't celebrate St. Patrick's Day, it wasn't a day off for us. But I did get the day off college!

And I eh, went out after work at 10:30.
