Mel calmly waiting on a tree above the road. Many traveled on this road, at least one of them had to be strong enough to challenge her. No one had even noticed her though. Soon she saw someone, someone that was different somehow, she could tell he was strong. She jumped down onto the road and stared at the traveler. It would be awkward for a travel to be suddenly met by a 14 year old girl in the middle of a road, far from any town, but what she said was sure to give the traveler a shock.

Mel: "You're going to fight me!"

Mel didn't leave any room for debate as she drew her sword.

The elderly man she yelled at simply shook his head as he leaned on the quarterstaff in his right hand. He wore fairly simple clothes, earthy colours and easily made. "Young ones these days. Now I know why my son is a loner."

He stared at her for a moment before turnint around and continuing his walking. He called over his shoulder, "Go home before you hurt yourself."

OOC: New character.

Mel ran around in front of him.

Mel: "You can't just run away!"

Mel thrusted her sword dangerously close to thet old man.

Mel: "I challeneged you, so you have to fight."

Mel pulled her sword back and started to gather a little fire energy. If the old man didn't want to attack, she'd just burn his hair off.

The man sighed and answered, "Fine. I accept your challange. Don't say I didn't warn you."

One end of his quarterstaff sparked with electricty before he speared the end forwards, attempting to catch her in the chest and knock the wind out of her.

Mel: "Inferno!"

Fire exploded from Mel's body, but she was just to slow and was hit with the quaterstaff. Mel fell to the ground, but the inferno was unleashed and would probably burn the old man and the trees around them. Mel rolled and jumped up, she watched the old man carefully, not sure exactly how to act.

The explosion caused the man to fly backwards through the air, staff shooting overhead. He crashed into the ground and rolled a good distance before flipping to his feet. He looked compleatly unharmed.

He dusted himself off and said, "Good move." He held his hand up and caught his staff. "By the way, I am Gunnar." Gunnar then shifted his staff in front of him. "Your move."

Mel: "And my name is Mel."

Mel suddenly started to glow blue and she pointed her sword straight up into the air. The blue aura shot into the air from Mel's sword and into the sky. The skies became dark with clouds.

Mel: "And this is my heavy rain."

Rain began to fall, but it was different than normal rain. It weighed down the trees, animals, and especially people. The rain didn't seem to even drop on Mel.

Gunnar raised his free hand and uttered, "Litrix," and a floating shield of energy appeared above his head, protecting him from the rain. He then placed his hand against his chest. "Vargach," and energy began to wash over his body.

OOC: The second spell is a series of buffs, he'll finish just before my next post.

Electricty ran through Mel and she struck out with her sword. Lightning danced on the ground at Gunnar.

Mel: "Lightning Runner."

Mel didn't waste time as she ran after her own attack, ready to strike at Gunnar as soon as he had to make a move away from her attack.

OOC: RedFlameZero, please don't post in a fight you have not been invited to. Thank you. If Dracoon is fine with it, you can join.

Gunnar finished his spell, uttered, "Levex noach," and let go of his staff. It floated in the air beside him as he hopped to the side of the lightning blast. His staff blocked the following sword swing as he swung with both hands at Mel.

OoC A triangle battle never goes well.

Mel didn't have a way to dodge, she was hit down onto the ground. She leaped up before he could do a follow up attack and jumped away.

"Ok, so normal tricks won't work on you, then let's go for something a little stronger."

The light around Mel actually started to disappear. It was like the light was being stopped before it even got there. She began to pulse with energy from the void of space.

Shaking his head, Gunnar grabbed his staff, motioned quickly with his free hand, and uttered, "Ocuir. Austrat." He vanished from sight, and began to invisibily float into the forest.

OOC: It'll wear off in a couple rounds.

Mel's thoughts: "If I can't see him, I can't use this spell... such a waste to have charged it up, now I'll have to release it..."

The darkness around her faded and Mel opened her ears to try and hear Gunnar before he attacked. She was confident she would be able to move away from him if she heard him or felt the air around her move, but what if he used a projectile...

Mel's thoughts: "Where is he..."

Gunnar, floating in the foliage of the nearby trees, finished his battle enhancements. They were mostly defensive and speed buffs, and a helpful haste spell, that allowed him to move faster and cast more spells in the same amount of time.

Gunnar's voice was fairly loud as he said, "Gix kepesk," however, the sound of two fiendish dire tigers smashing through the forest behind Mel was louder. They were five and a half feet tall to the shoulder, around twelve feet long, and very clearly had fiendish blood flowing through them. Upon seeing Mel, they rushed to pounce and attack her.

Gunnar remained motionless in the trees, and watched to see what Mel would do.

OOC: I'm using d20 spells and round rules as guidelines for this fight, mainly because Gunnar was made using d20 rules.

OoC: I don't know what d20 is

Mel turned around and jumped into the air over the tigers. With a quick motion of her hand, the rain that was falling turned into sharp ice needles.

Mel: "Ice Needle."

The small sharp projectiles rained down from the sky at the tigers. No matter how strong they were, enough of these and they would die. Mel grabbed onto a tree branch and jumped higher in the tree to remain out of reach of the tigers.

OOC: D20 is also known as 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons.

The ice rain was deflected by the shield hovering over Gunnar's head, and he watched his summons, oblivions to the ice needles, circle the tree.

He started jumping from branch to branch, moving towards Mel but staying hidden.

Mel: "The world has evolved to a set of justice and order! I am the Lawful Messenger!"

Mel was enveloped in a strange blue light and her appearence began to change. Her hair shortened from her knees to the middle of her back and turned blonde. A feather appeared on top of her head and it seemed like it was part of her, but it didn't touch her. Her black cloth armor was replaced by a light weight blue tunic and tights. Her slim-sword shortened to about two foot and she had a blue glow around her. Her voice rang with a heavenly feel.

Mel: "Demons and old men who practice the dark ways have no place in this world."

Gunnar looked skyward and muttered to the heavens, "I'm sorry, ariathear, but this has gone too far."

He jumped out of the trees back to the road and yelled at Mel, who was a couple hundred feet away. "I have left my old ways. I no longer work for the lords of Hell. Or have you come to try and finish what you bastards started, the death of me and my loved ones?!" His fists shook violently, skin rippling as if this form was not his own.

OOC: Ariathear means, roughly, "my angel", and Gunnar uses it to refer to his dead wife, who was literally an angel. Long story, I'll give you the gist of it later if you want.
