Bad puns, accidentally insulting things...what are some things you've said on AIM that you realized afterwards could probably be taken REALLY differently than how you meant them, even in context?

I bring this up because of a conversation with a deaf friend of mine:

Friend: *sighs*
Friend: i just read a disturbing article.
Me: on what?
Friend: apparently the miss Deaf Texas got killed by a train.
Me: yeah, I heard about that

whoops

Oh, right... I dont have the conversation... but...

A while ago I had a few conversations going between me, my friend, my classmate, and my Chemistry teacher, all at the same time. My friend and my teacher both have AIM screens that start with "K". I was helping my classmate, and my friend at the same time, and my friend.... you know... failed to get everything easy over one small detail (B+ Student), while my classmate (C student) was getting the harder stuff perfectly. So I start to complain to my friend about paying attention... when, you know...

The IM actually goes to my TEACHER instead

What I was going to send my friend was a comparison of him to my classmate... which, my teacher has both of them, along with me in the same period. Non insulting of course. Thankfully, my mishap just led to a very interesting question about "What am I going to do with him? (my friend)"

Thankfully, my teacher is awesome like that... so I didnt feel too embarrased... but Ive vowed to keep one window or the other closed when Im double IMing... and to double check...

On valentines day, I said "Happy VD!" to one of my friends...but, I did not know that she just found out she had syphilis .__.;; It was kind of akward.

Me: I think IM's are great.
Friend: They cause too many problems.
Me: Yeah, think about how good it would have been for deaf people like Helen Keller.
Friend: Um. She was deaf, yes. But BLIND as well.
Me: Oops.

I type really quickly on MSN, and sometimes I hit the space bar at the wrong time... "I suck at it." -> "I suck a tit." And without fail, I'm talking to a girl at the time.

In lieu of "hon" sometimes I type "ho".

Also, I tend to forget which IM window is active at times, resulting in messages being sent to the wrong people.

They need to create a technology where you can select windows with your eyes, dammit.

Your recent ones remind me of an interesting experience I had at one point, in which I was talking to a couple friends of mine, as well as my girlfriend. One of my friends sent me an amusing link, I don't recall the content, but while there was no nudity, I do think it had a somewhat scantily clad woman in it. I thought it was funny and sent it to my other friend. About ten minutes later there was some page that I wanted to send to my girlfriend, so I copy/pasted the link...but I guess the copy didn't work, and it attached the other link and I sent it without looking. That was....interesting to explain.

ROFL! That really made my day.

Yeah, I usually make typos on MSN but I rarely remember them afterwards as I always correct them.

"Fun" times when I decided to tell someone about how I'd just had my DSL upgraded from 3mbps to 5mbps for practically nothing. About 2 seconds after I sent the message, I realized that the person I was talking to was stuck on dialup because he lives in some remote area. Pretty damn akward.

Oh yes, and sending someone the wrong image by accident tends to be interesting.

I don't use AIM, but I did once underestimate MSN Messenger's image thumbnailer. Apparently "salami.isnotforvegetarians" is not enough to fool it.

I tend to not make mistakes like that on AIM, but I have said such wonderful things via email as "Check your email." I don't think I need to explain what's wrong with that one.
