| Different to the pet-chat thing, I would like some people's opinions on a pet to get. I've been considering getting a pet at my little home.
It's a 2 bedroom flat on a busy road. I have almost no back yard, so an outdoor pet is pretty well out of the question. Any pets must be indoor pets or at least able to be caged outdoor.... I want something small and furry.  Something I can play with and cuddle, preferably, which means a fishy is out. Something that hopefully is not too high maintenance...

Try a tame Lovebird. Be sure that you get one that has been recently born (just matured into a full-sized bird), and be sure not to give it a mate. If you do that and take good care of it, it will become very attached to you. Of course, cuddling it might harm it, but meh.  |

| I had two Guinea Pig for seven-eight years. She died last year, the older one died the year before that.
You can cuddle and play with it if you're careful (aka, don't use it like it's actionman) and they're not very high maintance either.
Meh, kind of too bad we're not allowed to have animals in our apartments. Then still if I was able to, I probably would want a cat or dog, but I would be afraid that the cat would be hit by a train and... a dog feels costly for my economy.  |

You can't cuddle to it but you have wrap it around your body and take provocative pictures with it. |

| When it comes to pets, I've had pretty much everyone there is to have.
I voted on Rat. They're very nice, very intelligent, and very loving (and kind of cuddly, but not terribly high maintenance). I've had every pet on that list with the exception of the ferret and guinea pig, but I know people who have had ferrets. Don't get birds if you want cuddly. I had several budgies and they were pretty much too old when I got them to be trained properly, unfortunately. And they make tons of sound and feathers fly everywhere. They're a lot like fish, pretty to look at, but not so good to actually interact with. Rabbits are often very nervous and can get very upset at noises (you said you lived on a busy road, right?). |

| If it was me I would choose mice, I've always wanted mice, but of course I live with my parents and they don't want me having mice.
The only problem I see with getting mice is having to clean out the cage .. which you would still have a problem with if you got a rat, rabbit, guinea pig .. etc. I also think mice are much cuter than the other choices, but that could just be me  |

| When I was in 1st grade, I was given the opportunity to take care of the class hamsters over summer break. They were so cute, and I loved taking care of them. They'd lay on me and it was so cute omg
...so I'd say hamsters. But I know guinea pigs are similar... Either of those. |

| How about you get a house cat? That's what we did when we got a fairly young kitten. He never wants to go outside, and he's very snuggly.
Of course that'd be more expensive to take care of than what you listed. I've never owned any of those animals, but based what I've seen from my friends' pets, I'd have to go with a hamster. I discourage caged animals altogether, they're depressing to have around. They just sit in that small space every single day, and if you take them out, you have to make sure they don't run off or whatever. Bleh. |

| Get a guinea pig or a hamster... theyre so cute when they fall asleep on your lap
Its also fun to build huge, extensive cages for them for them to play in.
A house cat would be a little more high maintainence, but it would last a little longer, and would become a lot more attached and cuddly if you were a good owner. Id stay away from reptiles and birds... just my opinion... 
Whatever you get, just make sure youre happy with it  |

| I must be the only person who does not like hamsters.
I had one; Snowball was it's name and it was a bit of a time consumer. To change his water every day, to clean his little living area every so often, to fed him this and that. It was not the ideal pet at the moment when I had no time to care for it. I am bitter though. The damn thing bit me enough times on the same finger. |

| BOOO!! Get a snake and feed it rats! That's what my household did about a month ago. When Percy (our Columbian Red-Tailed Boa) eats, he attacks the mice/rats like lightning and squeezes them to death within 30 seconds. Then it's down the hatch!
The coolest animal-related thing I've ever seen. I really recommend it. If you consider it and need any more info about snakes, feel free to ask anytime. |

I voted ferret because they are so cute and cuddly. They are kind of high maintenance until you get used to having one then you wouldn't know how you could have not gotten along without one. You do have to ferret proof the whole house though so they don't get trapped or lost somewhere's.  Beware they like to steal and hide things too.
Also I would suggest a house cat as they're cute and cuddly as well. Although all eight of ours are pain in the ass today from what I hear from my mom. |

Just for everybody with the cat thing -- I can't, because I'm horribly allergic to cats. I tried to have one once, it resulted in a six-month-long asthma attack. 
I prefer to breathe than to have a cat. Oh, and for you guys suggesting snakes, I'm not fond of snakes and they're not cuddly so
As for hamsters, I don't think we see many of those for sale in Aus, but lots of Guinea Pigs. |

| Actually, snakes are incredibly cuddly. Especially ours ^^
One day, our snake's terrarium was really cold so my dad took the snake out (he was cold, too) and put him under his shirt and went to sleep for 4 hours. The snake curled up just laid there the entire time. |

| Have you considered a hedgehog? They make excellent pets and are uber-cuddly.
And as a former owner of rats/guinea pigs/etc. I seriously suggest the rat in opposition to the guinea pig. The simple fact is that rats are more sociable and guineas are really, really skittish. |
