OK, I wanted to start a game before the end of the other board, but that got throttled easily... So here we go!

This is a game all about misdirected logic. The challenge here is to beat me, to try and remain a few steps ahead of me in my logical thinking.

The premise is such: I give you a sentence describing an object in my own terms. Using related definitions and higher-order thinking, you have to try to guess what that object is, and you also have to define your thought process along the way. Points are given for correct answers and bonus points are given if you think along the same lines that I did when designing the riddle.

I guess the best way to describe this would be through an example:

Easy: This cutting-edge piece of technology's blades spin, but you won't bleed if you touch them.

Answer: A Helicopter. It has blades that spin, but they're not all that dangerous when you handle them.

Point value: Because this was an easy one, you'd get one point for the answer, and a bonus of twice that for the same line of thinking... So you'd get a total of 1 or 3 points.

Medium: It's more likely to keep you from getting wet than it is to make itself wet, despite its name.

Answer: A sweater. Most people wear hoodies in the rain to keep from getting soaked, and although its name implies that it'd sweat, most sweaters remain comfortably dry if unprovoked.

Point value: Since that one was a little bit harder to understand, it'd be worth two points. The logic was also long enough to give you a comfortable 3x multiplier in addition to your already gained two points, meaning a perfect Medium question would be worth 8 points.

Now, for the whopper...

Hard: I suppose this thing fits perfectly in the land of its namesake, but it doesn't seem to like baseball very much. If it could talk, I guess it'd talk a lot about pain. Don't mistreat it: it'll leave you bloody.

Answer: A window. Baseball is the great american pasttime. America is the land of opportunity. There exist windows of opportunity. Windows have panes, which is a homonym of pain. If you mishandle the window, chances are you'll get cut on the glass.

Point value: Because of the sheer absurdity of the riddle, you get four points simply from a correct answer. If, however, you hit the jackpot and guess my line of logic, you get a nice 4x multiplier added on to your already gained 4 points, making Hard questions worth a whopping 20 points!

So, you guys up for a game? Good.

Oh, one last thing... I'm not going to tell you the difficulty value of the questions I post. I've got my own reasons for that, but it has a lot to do with the ratio of wrong answers you guys give before right. Hints will be given on request, but beware... You might be unpleasantly surprised...

And now, without further ado, my first problem!

Number 1:

It's a common commodity. Eating soup out of it would probably be a bad idea, but on the flip side if you're really lucky you can just walk away from it, check back a few seconds later, and see that your business is done.

It's common, right? The eating soup part would indicate it's some type of bowl, as it's a bad idea, not a flatly impossible one. If that's so, and you're done after not disposing of it on your own, that would indicate a toilet bowl... And "business" is a euphemism for "waste management" anyway, which furthers the toilet bowl answer. So I'm gonna say that.

Good job, Kyouji! You got every part of the question except for one correct... The common commodity was a pun on "commode..." if you caught that, I'd be very impressed.

So, since Kyouji got the answer correct AND his logic was along the same lines as mine, he gets the points. Since it was obviously fairly easy for him to answer the question, it must have been not very difficult, meaning he gets a grand total of three points to start with...

Scoreboard:

Kyouji -
3

So, let's move on...

Number Two:

I suppose if I hit it with my car I'd end up breaking a few tulip's hearts...

Hmm, I probably suck at this..but I'll throw out a guess

"I suppose if I hit it with my car I'd end up breaking a few tulip's hearts..."

I'm gonna say you mean flowerbed. As by hitting a flowerbed full of tulips with a car, you would crush them, and kill them, as by breaking their hearts.

Boy I suck at this. Hope I at least had the right idea

Hmm... I think you're good enough at grammar to remember you don't need that ' if tulips is plural. This implies that few tulip is a noun, having in its possession multiple hearts.

Meh... I'm beginning to think that it was unintentional... I got nothin'.

So I guess the answer would be:

The heart of a tulip-bulb

Driving into a thing with a bulb, thus breaking it - driving into a lamppost.

Suppose is a play on support... Naturally, if you hit the lamppost its bulb would break, which would sadden those tulips.

The heart of the tulip is a bulb, and you would break the bulb in the streetlamp if you hit it with your car.

And NSNick's got it!

So Teddylot gets the points for guessing that it's a Lamp Post, but NSNick gets the bonus multiplier for the logic!

Scoreboard:
NSNick - 6
Kyouji - 3
Teddylot - 2

I guess I'll designate that one a Medium, since you guys took so much effort to get it. Anyway, I've got another one to wrap you all up with...

Number Three:

Your victory's journey to the skies will be severely shortened if you don't give it any gold and silver beginnings...

Good luck!

I thought it was about death. Some people believe earthly riches will get you to heaven. If you have no riches your rise will be shortened, and down to hell you will go.

Well, along those lines, maybe victory's journey is the successful getaway from a crime. In the process he jumps on to a plane but since he didnt shell out the cash for a ticket, he is escorted off the plane and arrested.

I believe it's a plane. I believe the victory part is a pun on a particular class of airplane... And it's never going to make it to the skies without the gas (gold and silver, as nick said) to begin its journey.
