There is a Kid Icarus editor out there, but it doesn't work on the newest version of Windows (a long while back I was hacking KI, but had to give up on it for that reason)

There was a Rygar hack built long ago I belive, it is tough since it does use colum rendering like the Zelda overworld.

A while back I made a blaster master hack of the first level to look like Brinstar(just the overworld). It was actually pretty cool since it made creative use of jagged scrolling(jagged scrolling is when a room is not totally horizonal, vertical, or multi scrolling, but combines all 3, not easy to do in Blaster Master).
I also want to see more hacks for Zelda 2, especially some ASM hacks. Oh yeah, and some Oracle of Seasons, Link's Awakening, Metroid Zero Mission, and any other game I took lots of time to rape it into submission. |

Originally posted by Zoku That actually doesn't seem too unreasonable. A bit of ASM tracing would probably let you kill the boss-checks... I was actually trying to do that a while back, but I don't know ASM too well (read: at all, at least usefully) and got frightened and gave up. |

I once read that Zero was simply too tall to fit through the boss doors. I should check that.

We have a par code at GSHI that sounds like it might fix that MMX3 problem. I never played the game but Ugetab is known for making the impossible possible. So I'm betting the par code I saw fixes that problem.

I'd like to see a hack that turns a one-player game into a two-player game. Preferably a SMB hack where Mario and Luigi act simultaniously like in Chip & Dale (Hi, DahrkDaiz). Having two Kit's in Kid Icarus would be cool too.
I'd also like to see a NES hack that uses a level generation engine to randomly create levels kinda like the first Diablo did. I think Kid Icarus would be a top candidate for this one. |

I was planning on doing this with CV1 but I decided to wait until the room order was figured out. I think Dan has the data but I don't have the motivation to actually do it. As for Zero in X3, I had a PAR code a long time back that would turn X into Zero, it sucks because Zero's saber is overpowered, you'd have to nerf the saber to make it into a fun hack. The code had a side effect of allowing Zero to use weapons, which was cool. |

Originally posted by Dragonsbrethren 7E0A8E02 was the code in question, if my memory serves me correctly. You have to switch to Zero while X has a special weapon open if you want to be able to use it as Zero, then would have to switch back to X (7E0A8E00) if you want to change weapons. When you use Zero with the special weapons, his colors become wacky (most notably his skin). (edited by asdf on 03-13-06 01:43 AM) |

Originally posted by Jigglysaint That IS a cool idea! Considering that many of the creatures in that game act like and were obviously inspired by many of the ones from Metroid. One of the first things you see in the game are Waver-like creatures, and more wall crawlers than you can shake a stick at. There are even Metroids that suck your energy in some of the water levels. That game is so Metroid-like it isn't funny. Do I feel my next project coming on?... Something like that would make an interesting sequel, or even prequel, to Metroid Begins. What I would really like to see is a re-make of the original Metroid in the vein of Metroid Zero Mission, hacked out of Super Metroid, pretty much the same way Super Mario Bros. Deluxe was hacked out of Super Mario World. |
