Well, I decided to make a SMB hack instead of SMB3 since creating SMB3 was a little complicated. I have change the text and some of the graphics.

As you can see, Mario's name has been changed to Louis because the two main characters will be named Louis and Moe and their goal is to find their friends and to find Maria, their mother. Also, the Hammer Bro. has been changed to a Knife throwing Ninja and the coins have been turned to easter eggs.

The Goombas have been changed to some kinda vegetable and the koopa to a gang member.

These are the powerups, The first one is a Powerpill (Mushroom & 1up) The second on is a Ninja Doll (you can throw shurikens) and the third one is a Magic shield (invisiblity.) I know have haven't changed the Mario sprites and the rest of the bgs, but I will show ya'll more screenshots when I do.

BTW, I already asked this in a post but you might didn't see it so... How would you change the positions of Mario going inside to a pipe to a bonus level and to the main level you entered from using SMB Utility?

^ I don't see what's so bad about any of it... though it's just a graphics hack and I usually don't much attention to those anyway. Either way, I'd try changing the palettes of the enemies and bg graphics too, otherwise you run the risk of having it look too similar to the actual SMB.

Meh, it's all right. It could use a lot of work (most notably the color), but your concepts are fine. Oh, and Louis's dark green skin looks terrible.

"Louis" is still glitched, and I hate the goombas.

Ugh...

Ew... if you're going to do custom graphics do them good, better than the originals. Hack the palettes, look to later NES games for inspiration (Hint: I'm talking about outlines, they make everything look better), and change all the graphics. If this isn't supposed to be Mario it should look like Mario at all.

It's the original Super Mario Brothers... how much action are you expecting from it?
3 or 4 sprites, projectiles and obsticles... that's about as exciting as it's going to get..

I think it looks decent, he is using hand drawn letters and sprites, a plus in my book. Ripping graphics from other games is the easy way out, so he is putting some effort into it.

Mario's colors, eh, it's a bit different from the norm, but it might be explained as Louis not being 'white' or a zombie or something.

It's a start, keep at it. I'm sure after awhile, it may not even resemble what is in the screenshots right now.

I have to disagree, if the original graphics look better than your custom graphics it's getting a bad rating in my book.

Oh, I completely agree. It's just not everyday I see someone creating graphics instead of using premade graphics and just dropping them in. His graphics certainly need work done to them, and I'm sure he will get better at it in time.

Perhaps he just made the mistake of showing off his work so early in development. If all the graphics are eventually changed to his artistic styling, the few things he has done won't stand out as 'bad' but it will all blend in together as something 'original'.

That all made sense in my head anyway.

Actaully, yes. I'm in early development of these graphics, so I will try my best to change the graphics. Also, I got the chance to change the colors of Louis (Mario).

Is there a program to change the pallets of each graphic. Because the goombas sorta look like tomatoes, so I want them to be colored like tomatoes. Eventually, I'll probably make the text look better too. Also, I am going to change the Mario sprites too.

Not exactly. Some graphics require TSA buildup to completely fix it.

Well, I finally got a chance to make a little demo. It's from 1-1 to 1-3. However, World 2 isn't ready yet. I just want to show you guys how far I got, tell me what ya'l think of it. Even though I haven't remodeled World 2, I did do some graphic editing for that world. Enjoy!

For you guys that didn't know, I put up version 2 of my SMB Hack on my website. It's up to 1-1 to 2-1, and I did a couple of graphic changes again. I'm currently working on World 2 and it's going alright.

Wow, that takes me back. Ahh, the late '90s, when everybody and their brother was doing a simple graphics hack of SMB1. Not that I'm knocking your hack so far, mind you. I find it refreshing, actually. I just, you know, wanted to express the nostalgia I'm vibing from it. Or something.

Well, I'm almost done! I have made some changes. There will now be 4 worlds instead of 5. I've decided to take Slushy Summit out. Also, I did a couple of graphic changes. I've changed Louis's dying sprite from an angel to him dying Mario style. You will see the changes in the screeny. Also, the bloobers have been changed to divers.
