Yeah, I've had this in my mind for a while now..
How about changing Mario to Samus, and transforming The Mushroom Kingdom to Planet Zebes?

It would work, I mean..
~Mario would be edited to Samus. A Few graphical and palette changes, and voilá. Also, He'd have the Fire flower power always. Also, the HEX value would be changed so the fireballs would go straight forward.
-Spike tops could be Zoomers. Both Climb walls, and they're the same size.
-Boos would be Mochtroids. A Bit of ASM hacking so they won't be so shy, and follow Mar... I mean, Samus continuously.
-Bullet Bills Would be those flying enemies, forgot their names.
-The SMB3 Pipes could be elevators. By editing them transparent, of course.
-Doors would those "Fireball Blocks", and if they're shot, the way is cleared, and you can continue to the next room. (Remember to Have Side Exit Enabled)
-Some ASM hacking so if Mario presses down, he won't go to the "Duck" pose, but instead, he'll transform to small Mario, who's graphics are changed to Morph Ball! When Small Mario presses "Up", he turns back to Fire Mario. If an enemy hits Fire Mario instead, he'll die instantly. This makes the game harder but more challenging.

Any ideas will be accepted.
And please note that this isn't one of those "I've got an idea make me the hack." -Topics.
Of course, If anyone wants to do the hack, then go nuts. Whatever.

As I said, more ideas will be just fine.

You could have a fireball-breakable block surrounding a teleport block.

(Both from Blocktool)

Interesting. I think the hardest part would be the fire Mario Samus and small Mario Samus. The always kill wouldn't be too hard, because the hurt routine could be edited from a branch if to a branch always or branch never if I'm right. (Feel free to correct me, I'm new to ASM.)

I got the same idea some time ago, that why I created the metroid custom sprite, I also going to have metroid energy system and make enemy sometime drop health

Didn't wario have a Metroid SMW hack? Only difference here seems to be that you're actually thinking about it.

The main problem I see is that SMW's engine would need major hacking to produce any sort of exploration gameplay like Metroid... for example, the power up system. Sure, you can have a blaster and a morph ball, but how do you duplicate the way Metroid forces you to get items to get past certain areas? I suppose you could use a combination of a good exploratory overworld and switch blocks, though the way the overworld works makes it too easy to backtrack for a good Metroid-style game... I guess I'd have to see how it came out.

HHH3: I'd rather see it with Super Metroid graphics...
