| ...but Pentagram, Witchcraft, David Bowie's The Man Who Sold the World album, sHEAVY, and Witchfinder General are all better Black Sabbath sound-alikes/wannabes.
Just thought I'd get that out there. :P Wolfmother seem to be fairly popular right now. I never watch music video programs or listen to radio, so maybe they're even more popular than I thought, with singles being played all the time. Any of you into this band? All these Sabbath impersonators are very cool and all, but of course none of them are as good as Black Sabbath's first four albums. The originators of that sound...and the best. How incredible for Sabbath to for one thing create heavy metal, and then also to inspire the creation of two of its sub-genres, both incredibly different from each other: doom metal and stoner rock. | I like them, but it's certainly not for their originality. I like them because of their novelty. They do a good job of producing that particular sound; it's fun to listen to; but it doesn't seem to have any real... enduring... qualities, like either the originals they emulate, or other more original artists of right now. |
