Jack awoke with a start, and scrambled onto his feet. He felt his neck and, seeing that it was unharmed, was sure he was in the real world. He almost made eye contact with Grey again, but he quickly shifted his gaze - although Grey would probably not try the same trick again, there was no telling what other techniques he had up his sleeve. Jack's hand lit green as he charged them with power.

Jack: "Well, thank you. That was an... interesting experience, but I'd prefer to keep inside my own mind from here."

He stood ready...

Grey: "Good! Let's have some fun."

Grey took off running at Jack, did a short hop into the air, and executed a flying kick that was aimed straight at Jack's head, but oddly enough, passed right through him. Grey had rendered himself immaterial for the moment, and came back after the fake blow with a roundhouse kick to Jack's midsection from behind! He fought like a gymnast flew, using the momentum of the kick to bring himself back around to bear. Grey then pressed the palm of his hand forward and pushed a concentration of psychic force out at Jack, effectively attempting to strike him a second time!

Sudden as a snake, Jack sidestepped to avoid Grey's kick at the last second, and slashed at him with his dagger... only to find that it passed through him! Before he knew it, Grey had thwacked him from behind! Jack stumbled back, but retaliated by firing a fast moving, wispy green ball. It would deal medium damage, and had the effect of making its target feel fatigued. Jack fired this as Grey activated his psychic force, and though the death ball pushed through, Jack felt it hit him, and he flipped backward to avoid landing on his flat on his back. As soon as he was on his feet again, he had switched his dagger to his left hand and fired his second charged death ball at Grey's latest position. Not waiting to see the results, Jack crouched to the ground and stabbed his dagger into it. It turned an earthly brown.

Jack: "Arlight, but my idea of fun might be a little different from yours..."

Magically, a swarm of thousands of locusts, wasps, and other pests materialized from the dagger's hilt! The cloud grew with phenomenal speed, and the insects were soon buzzing chaotically around every inch of the court. The intense buzzing and slapping of the bugs on Jack's face didn't bother him, but for Grey it may have been more of a problem, as it was he that they actually tried to bite and sting.

OOC: Out of curiousity, Cheese, did you happen to go ultra death metal goth on us or something while you were out? None of your old characters exist anymore...

Grey: "Pssh, you're kidding me..."

As the locusts and wasps flew towards him, Grey's eyes glowed a deep, penetrating green color...

"You want to fight me like an insect? I'll treat you like an insect! PK Rockin' Alpha!!!"

The green light in his eyes extended throughout his entire body, and Grey gritted his teeth. The young man's head throbbed as he sought to bring what he normally required a desperate degree of focus for to bear without so much as a moment's concentration.

Suddenly the green light that surrounded him fired out of his body and straight forward! It surged like a blinding nova, incinerating every last one of the bugs that threatened Grey with their massive buildup of annoyance, and continued on its trajectory towards Jack!

Grey himself was fired backward from the recoil of the attack, tumbling backward and somersaulting over a few times. He staggered to his feet as soon as he could, and took out his yo-yo...

ooc: I haven't completely written off Kyle, Ghost, or Cyberaptor, but I decided that the rest made too many characters to really focus and develop on, and that I needed a character of 'my own.' I'll work with Jack for a while, and then bring the rest in...

Jack: Pah! Figures...

Jack leapt out of the way of the psychic beam, landing in a handstand and cartwheeling over. When he landed he quickly held his hand to his dagger, and it flew from the ground into his grasp.

Grey seemed impervious to Jack’s preferred method of fighting, which was softening his opponent through mind tricks, fear, and pain, and then swiftly finishing them as they could hardly fight. As many of his techniques were dedicated to this cause, it seemed that he’d have to press forth with a powerful, albeit used ability.

Jack pointed at the ground, on which were created six reddish-pink circles surrounding Jack. A sword rose from each of the six circles on the ground, and floated magically by Jack, forming a ring. The glowing lights on the ground disappeared after this. Jack then ran forward at Grey and jumped at him, with the swords spinning around him horizontally faster than they eye could register.

Grey: "Ha!"

It only took a quick burst of telekinesis from Grey to hold the six swords in the air as Jack flew forward and out of their range. As soon as Jack had left their area, Grey released his hold on the swords, and met Jack's assault with his own degree of force, pulling a baseball bat from out of nowhere and swinging it at the oncoming skeletal warrior. Hard.

Jack had planned his jump so he would land a few feet from Grey, so it was the tip of the bat that smashed into his face and sent his head spinning in circles, and snapping clean off the bone. Jack stumbled back and quickly grasped his head to stop it from spinning off of his body, and with an unpleasant CRICK set it back into place. The skin somehow bonded back together. He rolled his shoulders and continued his assault.

Jack: "You're going to get impaled sooner or later, I'll see to that."

One of the floating swords vanished in a pinkish mist while three others each took a turn to slash at Grey all on their own. The other two guarded Jack while he held his dagger to his left wrist, and with a violent motion made a long slice down the arm, wincing only slightly. Once some blood fell to the ground, it sort of sank into it, and the land made a small rumble. Jack looked up from his work just in time to see two giant-sized skeleton arms pop up from the ground and attempt to grab Grey and hold him still, while the last two swords stabbed at him. After this, another of the blades disappeared.

Grey crouched down, ducking the first of the initial three slashes. For the second, he pushed a palm forward and another hit of telekinetic force knocked it away. Still in his crouch, Grey shifted his body to the side and watched as the third sword cut a deep gash in his chest. Instinctively, he reacted quickly, shouting in pain and springing upward as his baseball bat faded into nothingness, while at the same time evading the skeletal arms and the second two slashes. He backflipped in the air and watched his own blood drip to the ground as he landed in a crouch, some ten or fifteen feet away.

Grey's eye twitched a bit in concentration as he held a hand to his bleeding chest, using telekinesis to hold his wound closed for a few seconds... As the second blade disappeared in that eerie pinkish mist, Grey's cut closed into a scar, and he was left panting in the wake of the slice.

There wasn't much time to react! With the remaining four blades away from Jack, Grey needed to take this opportunity to move! He shut his eyes, and blinked forward, putting on a burst of psychometabolically enhanced speed that brought him straight at Jack. Still in his rushing mode, Grey pressed forward with a flurry of hits that, while haphazardly aimed and of varying levels of intensity, were still incredibly fast and furious. He even did the anime martial arts thing...

Grey: "Oraoraoraoraoraoraoraoraoraoraoraoraoraora!"

Yeah, that's the one.

Jack was overwhelmed by Grey's sudden charge and flurry of blows, and responded with his own random attempts at blocking and slashing with his dagger, although it was certain that Jack took a far greater beating than Grey. He was finally able to break free after taking several hits and whirled out of the frenzy, black coat drifting swiftly behind him, and caught his balance behind Grey. With a quick brush of his hair, he leaned forward on one knee and motioned toward his speedy opponent, wearing a dark scowl on his face.

Jack: "After him, you bloody things!"

The four swords spun through the air toward Grey, and immediately following them came a stream of thick black briars that sprouted out of the ground as they traveled in a line, homing into Grey's position in an attempt to catch him and immobilize him in their highly poisonous thorns. These brambles were the result of Jack's previous spell, and the skeleton hands retracted into the ground as thorny bushes grew out.

Jack stood at a distance and rubbed his jaw, where he had been socked rather hard. He charged a death ball in his other hand, but he wasn't very concentrated and it came kind of slow.

Grey dove into the rain of swords, expelling another radial blast of psychic force that drove them all away as he flew through and went straight towards the briars. With a loud ringing in his head, Grey felt a surge of heat overcome his body, as he lit himself on fire with a quick shock of pyrokinesis. He continued like a burning missile towards Jack, incinerating the briars and keeping his own flames several inches from his body, for fear of singing himself like only Shalandra could. At the last moment, however, he kicked himself upward from the ground (along which he traveled), and took a vertical direction. The flames dissipated, and Grey pointed two fingers towards Jack, squinting his glowing green eyes as he did so.

Grey: "PK Fire Beta!!!"

The jets of fire rushed out of his fingers and at Jack, threatening to create a radius of burning fury when they managed to hit the ground. Grey lingered in the air for several seconds, and held himself aloft on a cloud of force. This was more like it, he could feel his psychic energies flowing more and more fluidly with each passing second...

Jack was kneeling defensively in preparation for Grey's fiery charge, and was caught off guard when he took off into the air. Alertly following Grey with his glowing eyes, Jack motioned at the swords (now three in count) to return to his side.

When the flaming jets rushed at Jack, they were blocked by a thick thorn bush that sprouted up just in time to save him from being roasted, but it was soon charred to dust and he had to dive out of the way. When he recovered, he noticed that the tail of his coat had caught some of the fire. A quick blast of icy mist from his hand put it out.

By now Jack had finished charging his death ball, and he fired it at the airborne Grey, allowing him to charge a shadow tech. Holding forward his palm, Jack pulled all of the shadows around him into a dark violet sphere that grew tremendously by the second...

Still in the air, Grey pulled out his baseball bat and swung it at the Death Ball, slicing straight through it!

Grey: "Dimension Blade!!!"

He landed on the ground after another splitsecond of flight, and upon closer inspection of the weapon in his hand, one would see that it was no longer a crude club of sporting equipment, but a two-dimensional object of such, giving the impression that it was either a sprite from a video game, or somehow psionically compressed to the point where it could slice through literally anything...

...Including Jack, which Grey tried to demonstrate in another mad rush at Jack, aiming a sweeping strike at his midsection.

Jack made no attempt to dodge, but rather fired his now van-sized shadow ball straight at Grey from close range. The enormous ball of darkness would deal very high damage, and at that size that close could even put Grey to sleep for a few seconds.

Still, the shadow sphere was a horrible shield and Grey's blade went right through it, and through Jack's abdomen as well. He made a bitter laugh at the ensuing pain as he tripped backward, but caught his balance on one of the floating swords that flew alertly to his hand for support. The lousy things, now wasted down to two and about to become one, seemed better served as canes than weapons. Now just plain bitter, Jack silently motioned at Grey, and the blades followed up the shadow ball with a mad frenzy of slashes, twirls and stabs. Halfway through the attack one of the swords vanished.

But Jack wasn't finished playing with the shadows - he was soon pulling more into his hand again from a new distanced position.

Grey held his weapon out in front of him in a guard stance, the shadowy attack flying at him from point blank. A parry was the best he could hope for.

As Grey's bat divided the shadow ball into a pair of explosive halves, he was forced into a rather precarious position by the two swords that flew at him. With the rocking detonation of the shadow ball flinging him several tens of feet backwards, Grey was dumbstruck by the loss of his footing and through nothing more than sheer luck managed to avoid being beheaded by the flying pointy objects. They flew over his head as he dropped flat to the ground, now in a prone position. Thinking as quickly as he could, Grey pointed behind himself from the ground, and cast an astral image of himself backwards, tricking the last of the blades into thinking they were slashing a real person.

Grey's mental focus wavered a bit as he felt the drowsiness of the shadow ball's explosive rage begin to overtake him, and he considered the prospect of sleep for several moments before remembering the existence of that single final blade, and realizing the severe danger a quick nap, though helpful to his psyche, would put his body into.

Instead, he placed his hands together, and tried his best to focus as he got very slowly to his feet.

Jack, watched, impressed, as Grey took the hit but was still able to climb to his feet, only hindered by the drowsiness. He certainly wasn't a pushover... Jack himself was feeling the pain of fatigue, something he still had to adjust to with his new corporeal body. Another few hits of that bat and he'd be finished. No matter, he was at a good position for the moment. Jack expelled the shadows he managed to collect this time as a rapid flurry of pill-shaped blasts, machine gun style, trying to gun Grey down before he could get close again.

OOC: I'm really sorry Jack, I had meant to post, but life got in the way. I wanted this battle really badly, too... Let's finish it.

Grey was overcome by the tiny shadow-blasts, each one stinging like a paintball of black colliding with his frail human skin. His concentration steeled, he knew that the battle would be nowhere near his if he were to falter now.

His clasped hands began to glow, but the glow faded as a particularly hard shot hit him in the head.

He promptly collapsed. What?

OOC: Ah, that's alright, life'll do that.

Jack churned out a few more shots at Grey before realizing that he was down. Seeing this, he hastily stopped the attack and drew himself to height. Could this be it?

Hesitantly at first, Jack made a stumbling approach his fallen opponent, and not without a ready dagger. Although Grey might have really been out, Jack could just as easily expect a trick of some sort, if he had learned anything from Grey's cunning style of play. Gah, Jack hated being in defensive situations like this, especially when he was the apparent winner.

He stopped a few feet from Grey, and surveyed him quietly.

Jack: "Ready to call it quits?"

Grey's body was blasted in its prone position, burnt clothes and skin blackened by the dust and soot that had erupted from the explosive shots.

He gets up slowly, in a way that suggests that he is no threat to Jack. He's trying as hard as he can not to set off Jack's hair-trigger.

Grey: "It's odd, really..."

He shook himself off, and backed up a few steps from Jack. There was a glimmer of light in his fist, and the baseball bat appeared once again, clenched tightly in his hand. He had yet, however, to open his eyes from the shut-tight position they were in since hitting the ground.

Upon doing so, one would notice that instead of the green glow that they had gained when he focused his psychic abilities, they were glowing a dark, purplish black color. A very familiar color, in fact. It spoke to any optical observer's mind. The power of darkness, the Void, chaos, and destruction. It blinked and flickered for a few seconds, before going out. He shook his head. No...

Not him, Jack can't influence that side of him. Why was he accepting it so readily? It was bad. It would take that man, it had taken Kalar because of Grey's own foolish choices... And it'd take him, if he wasn't careful. Dance with the darkness. Take only its milk. Never its cow...

"...I never would have thought that revitalized me, but it seems the power of darkness IS capable of existing within us all."

That monologue aside, Grey raised his bat to its original guard stance, wavering in place. He had concentrated hard enough on the darkness, and it had won, only to give him a bigger victory. Could this be the start, he thought, of something new?

Eitehr way, he really felt like whacking Jack. He made a bum-rush attack at Jack, swinging his bat towards Jack's weaping, going for a quick spar. He wasn't expecting Jack to even break a sweat at this, but it was time for some fun, now that they had tested each other out...

OOC: Sorry, had internet problems.
---

Jack: "Interesting..."

Grey's yield to darkness drew an excited gaze from Jack. As he saw it, darkness was the only worthy power; unlike the others, only the strongest of will could wield it, and most were easily corrupted by it. Fewer still could actually look cool with dark powers - people always had this habit of become beings of ultimate darkness, arrogant jerks who would call everyone fools and were horrendously overconfident in their own abilities. That stereotyped evil villain always made Jack want to puke. He would continue the fight for as long as he could, but if Grey gave darkness a bad name, he would certainly be schooled as painfully as possible.

Jack had to respond quickly to Grey's attack by parrying with his dagger - a weapon that was never well suited for the purpose with its small size. The crooked blade was knocked away and it tumbled lightly across the court. Jack automatically withdrew his hand, which had taken most of the blow. Muttering sourly, Jack sought to draw his knife back with a wave, but finding his power disrupted for the moment he was forced to run after it.

As Jack recovered his weapon, he thought he heard a raspy kind of ethereal laughter coming from the inside of his head, but the haunting noise was only followed by silence, and Jack focused on Grey again.

Jack: "Didn't know you had it in you, Grey. The will, that is, or perhaps lack thereof. We all have a capacity for darkness, of course, but choosing to use it now... ...I do want to see how it suits you."

Jack's fingers gripped the hilt of his knife readily as he waited in a wounded yet resilient stance. Not enough time for an attack now...

Grey: "Nope, not my style... Not yet."

The dark aura faded as quickly as it had surged, and Grey shook his head. He twirled his bat, thinking all along of his Struggle battles with his friends back home. PVC piping, duct tape, and industrial foam didn't hurt that much, but it made you a hell of a fighter with a blunt object.

Grey made for another dash attack at Jack, his former green aura beginning to flicker around his heels again as he swiped forward with his bat gripped tightly in his right hand... And as the followthrough finished, did a full-body twirl and lashed out with his yo-yo in his left, spinning in a sleeper that was sure to be a knockout!
