In any event, I should point out that all the levels of Battletoads are quite beatable (Except if you try and play level 11 with 2 players).

Not terribly long ago, I witnessed Rando play straight through Battletoads on a GBA NES emulator without abusing save states, and he hadn't played it in years. Muscle memory for games is an amazing thing indeed.

Ugh, I could never get past the hovercraft level in the game. It pissed be off to no end....otherwise it was a good game..

Depends on which rat. If you're talking about either of the first two, please give up now because they're easy to beat.

The third one, on the other hand, is not. You need pretty much every advantage you can get, so as soon as you drop on the platform where you hear him start to form, MANUALLY run to the next gap. When you get there, manually run to the next one. If he somehow hasn't fully formed yet, manually run one more time, though he should be fully formed and the race proper commencing by the time you make it down gap number three.

Other tips:

-You can try punching/headbutting him as he goes past you to attempt to send him backwards. Buys you an extra split second.

-With perfect timing, you can actually big boot the corpse of the first two rats and end the level early. I've never actually done this, however.

Correct on both counts.

Make sure you get the US version, and not the far easier Japanese version (No, this is not a typo).
