If anything, the limit should be DECREASED, unless discussion is productive and about the ACS, or very small and not about the ACS. If you want to have a huge discussion, you should take it to the town square thread, or even just a new thread.

If we're only to talk about the ACS here, I think the limit should be decreased to really low. How stupid a topic is that, where people are just talking about the monthly points and how much they and others are posting, and that's it?

I must admit I liked the old style, where the ACS thread and the "Town Square" thread were one and the same.

Well, I wasn't around for the switch, but I can presume that the split happened for a good reason. More than likely, it was to unclog the thread so that the ACS results could be easily viewed without having to crawl through lengthy conversations. But the old style is irrelevant at this point. This is 2006, after all.

It was a nice style.

Back then

Then the spam got so high/bad the ACS was cancelled for awhile.

I really don't see the difficulty it is for people who are having a discussion in this thread to simply take it to the ATS thread.

It's not like switching threads will cause you to lose a part of your soul.

..but having two threads with random discussion will?

You want to talk about ACS, talk about ACS. But if you go off on a tangent for a little bit, as long as it's not spam, then what's the problem?

I am very much a fan for the return of a general random discussion thread. Or if we want it to be slightly less random, then Colin could set the tone of the conversation by means of the title each day, maybe?

I still retain my opinion that this thread should be used for the discussion of the ACS only, maybe given some leeway for some minor off-tangent discussions, but nothing major and nothing big. Besides, the ATS thread IS the "general random discussion thread". Even if this were "unrandomized" by Colin, it'd still be nothing more than another thread to post in. If you want to discuss something random, don't be shy. Just make a topic.

Oh, I'm not against to have a casual light conversation in the ACS thread.

I am simply saying that in the rare case where the discussion gets lengthy and essentially random.

Skydude: I actually like that suggestion of yours. The whole 'topic of the day' seems nice.

...Oh no. Then we're going to have days where I put up a topic and nobody replies. XD

There could be a variant of that though... could we have 3 stickies in Craziness? *thinks*

I don't see why we couldn't have another sticky. Though we already have four, Colin, so that would be a fifth.

Yay for topic of the day!

Well, by "three" I meant "three regulars". You know, ACS, Town Square and whatever this one would be.

At the end of the day, the topic would be un-stickied and either closed or continued depending on activity.

I think the point is that it would not be particularly active because it's just talking about the ACS. I mean how active can you get with I AM GOING TO WIN TODAY I think you won't post as much as you say you will LET'S SET A RECORD How about a friendly posting competition etc. etc.

Well, I don't think the disqualifications necessarily have to be particularly strictly enforced every day. I think the problem comes in if something like what he did becomes commonplace. As it is, it didn't really cause too much of a problem, and he's probably learned.

I hope.

Put it this way - I'm not checking all 10 users each day to see if they should be removed or not. If someone's brought to my attention or the staff's attention, then we see.

The latter.

It seems to me that his arms are too short to do much of anything.

Wait, are we talking about Kirb's character or Kirb himself?
