Hey I Was Wondering Which Is Better, Pentium 3 Or AMD Sempron?
I Need To Find Out As I Need To Install A New Hard Drive Because My Current System Won't Support It As My Motherboard Is Too Old.
Any Suggestions?

Wow, your post is the longest acronym I've ever seen.

What type of hard drive are you trying to install? You may be able to get a controller card to connect it rather than a whole new motherboard.

It's An Internal One.
I Would Probibly Get A New Motherboard Anyway.(Mine's 7 Years Old XD)
But It's For Windows XP.My processor is 496MHz.

I'd personally prefer Sempron, but that's just me. Supposedly AMD chips are built better, so they'll be a bit faster with the same clock speed.

Also, Intel supports DRM.

The Pentium 3 is a 1990/2000 processor, while the AMD Sempron is a 2004 processor. Newer is better regardless of time

But if the times are the same, as in Pentium 4 and AMD Sempron, then you have a debate. I'd probably skip the AMD Sempron stage and go straight to the 2005 generation Athlon64. The latest generation of AMD CPUs are now dual core and are way too much money right now for most people. Unless you are a gamer, or do something that requires processing power regularly (graphics work, video rendering, etc), then an Athlon64 will be sufficient.

Intel is a name that has been around for ages but AMD is a company gradually eating away at Intel's market share with better chips. So, yeah, I vouch for an AMD power computer

Why do people always talk about AMD and Intel as though Intel was several orders of magnitude older, it's not.

AMD was formed during the 60's roughly ONE year after Intel was. They've both been around for the same amount of time.

A while back, then AMD chips had more L2 cache, which made running programs faster since it didn't need to fetch from RAM so often. Nowadays, the 64-bit CPUs are different because Intel has opcode emulation whereas AMD has a 32-bit processor mode built-in. When running a 64-bit system, AMD will be much faster.

But in the event of choosing one when you already have a motherboard, you're sunk. A motherboard will either support an AMD processor or an Intel processor, and only specific forms thereof. Consult the documentation for your motherboard to find out what kind of processor you can put in it.

Well, yeah, I kind of assumed that. I mean IDE, SCSI, SATA?

Also, keep in mind if you plan to upgrade your processor and motherboard, you'll probably also need new ram since the ram you have now probably isn't DDR. On top of that, if your computer came with intergrated video, you'll need to get a new video card as well. So either way you go, Intel or AMD, you're likely going to be spending a good deal of money. Your best bet may be to just give Dell $299 and get a brand new computer. In which case, Dell will have made the Intel vs AMD descision for you. They chose Intel.

Ages was a bad choice of words...however, Intel marketed and AMD didn't do it that much. Between AMD and Intel, who has more name recognition? It is Intel and it explains why they have so much of the market share. If it wasn't for Intel's ability to fabricate, AMD would have a much larger share of the CPU market than it already has right now.

Anyway I Knew I Needed A New Graphics Card, Ram etc.
But Since I Live In The UK, How Much Do You Recon I Would Cost?

Well, that depends on how much you'd like to upgrade. Sempron and P3 covers alot of territory. Also, how much ram are you looking to get? What type of video card?

If you're looking for the best price I'd suggest ebay, but if you want it all from one reliable source, than newegg. You may also try froogle or cnet shopping to find the best price.

Another issue you'll need to consider is your case, alot of smaller style cases used by pc makers won't work with most new motherboards, even if it claims to be ATX.

And when you do choose a processor, I would suggest the processor-in-a-box deal. Its a little more but cheaper than buying the grease and heatsink seperately, and it comes with a warrentee.

My Current Motherboard Has 4 RAM Slots Which Only Supports 128MB Cards So I Would Probibly Get One 512MB One For My New Motherboard.Pointing Out The Graphics Card..
What If It Was An Intergrated One?
But If It Doesn't Have An Intergrated One, Im Not Sure Which one To get Really.

Well, there's an easy wat to find out. Where do you plug in your monitor? Is it up in the top rectangle with the mouse, keyboad, and usb stuff, or is down below that on its own seperate thin rectangle?
If its up top, that means its intergrated into the motherboard, if its down below, that means its on a seperate card.

Well, now were making progress. You've gone from just AMD vs Intel to AMD vs Intel and ATI vs Nvidia.

Its impossible, though, for anyone to give you specific advice on what to get and how much it will cost, though, without knowing a little more about how much you're looking to spend and how powerful of a system you're trying to build.

I think the question that needs to be asked here is What do you want to do with the system?

If you tell us what you want the system for and what you plan to do with it, then people here will be able to give advice that is better tailored to you.

If you're going to do AMD, you might as well get an NForce mobo and get an NVidia. Atleast then you have hardware specifically designed to play nice together. That and the NForce motherboards tend to be the best desktop AMD boards anyway.

I Recon I'll Get A Nvidia Graphics Card.

Why in God's name do you capitalize every single word in your sentences? Stop it. It makes your writing impossible to read.
