I'm wondering if it's possible if I can burn a video cd that I can play in dvd players. I think it would be cool to be able to do that. Right now I don't have a dvd burner so this could be a cool standin until then. Anyone have a program suggestion if this is possible? I doubt windows media player can do it.

Yes, you can use a VCD (Video CD) in a DVD player. And VCD's can run with WMP. For create a VCD, use Nero, or other Burning software.

Good CD burning software can allow you to make VCDs from mpg video, and SVCDs from mp2 video. If you're starting from AVI (normally in an mp4 format like divx or xvid) you'll need to convert it first with a program like tmpgenc.

If you're lucky, your DVD player plays DivX.
