Hm, when I try to fake transparency using GIFs, it always looks crappy.
Linking to the website is good but it doesn't really solve the problem. People will still be using the local copy instead. My suggestion is to link directly to the download page on whatever site it's on, and have the local copy next to it as a backup. Try to make it clear that it should only be used if the site is down. Like I said, if people don't see the download page, they don't see the list of needed files, any updates, or any more information than the short description given. |

Which is one of the reasons we have descriptions, really. They may not be incredibly detailed yet but just wait.
Also, users will be able to submit modifications to already-existing files at some point... if any info should be missing. |
