But, I wouldn't even be in this thread if not to point out how ridiculous the idea of astrology is, at least when it's based on the period of one's birth. Not to offend anyone's beliefs, but it's visible in everyday life that even people who are born under the same zodiac symbol can be vastly different. How does one reconcile that with the fact that horoscopes and whatnot insist that people who are born within the same roughly month-long period share a number of constant personality traits? I know scores of other Leos, and I'd hesitate to say that any resemble me in personality, or even that any are all that close to one another. Yet, when a person finds that he or she does line up well with what the zodiac describes, it becomes automatic evidence for the validity of astrology. On a related note, unless I misunderstand it, such systems as the Chinese calendar run on the notion that all people born in the same year share a number of similar attributes. Well, nearly every person that I know, at least here at college, is my age and shares my birth year, yet an enormously small number of them resemble me in personality. It just doesn't fit, I'd say. |

But, here, I'll disprove astrology: The zodiac says that I will share a number of personality traits with people who have the same sign as I do. Well, not only do I not share any such traits with other Leos that I know, and not only do many of those other Leos not share traits with one another, but I don't even fit into what a Leo is "supposed" to be. Even though astrology says that "Leos are this and Virgos are that and Cancers are this other thing." Happy? Edit to remove the malfunctioning e with an accent, and again to add this edit notice. | It's moreso the energies of the stars have powers over us in conjunction to our birth constellation... astrology isn't really about "All Leo's are [insert personality trait here]". That's what we call modern "astrology". If you bothered to study it and look into the origins of these things... you'd know that. They're just guidelines... like when you'll feel empowered to accomplish something.. or when is the right time to begin/end something. Kind of like a cosmic planner.
Of course it has more to do with your attitude than the stars though. Like if you really felt empowered to go out and do something... or start something new. You obviously will. I'm just saying. Real astrology is not what you think it is. |
