I propose the idea of a writer's forum. In this, people post their fan-fics, written work, poetry, short stories, etc. Perhaps a sub-forum of Modern Art, since literary works are forms of art. I think that the Modern Art forum turns most writers off, mainly due to the fact that no one posts written stuff in there, and I know that there are writers amongst you. Well, vote. I'd like to see this passed.

I fail at writing too, but there's no real reason why this shouldn't exist, other then people could post their written work in modern art like you said. There's also the story forum too, though I never go there, so I don't know how it works...

I clicked 'Yay' because it does sound like a nice idea. It doesn't allow the Modern Art forum to be cluttered with writing stuff.

But.

(There is always a but)

Activity could be a problem in a sense. To have a dead forum isn't very good. Even though there is that IRC forum, the one that goes months without a new post and such. Aside from that, it has potential.

Also, you would most likely end up double posting or triple posting a chapter in a story if you feel that you should continue writing a story even though no one has commented it.

Also the Story Forum is more of an interactive thing.

There is probably many reasons for a 'yay' and a 'Nay' I just can't think of any at the moment.

Edit: Okay, now that I think about it, I should've voted for 'nay' or maybe the hidden option of 'meh, maybe' That option should be included.

Activity would be little if any.

Modern Art doesn't turn people off, it's just that a lot of people do NOT comment about write material.

Then again everyone use to critique Khar's work when she full-modded here when she posted her stuff in Anya's Corner. It might work...but there just really isn't enough of a demand for it. :\

Tell you what, if there really IS a high demand...as in not this 3-1 vote stuff, I'll think about it too just for the sheer fact I could possibly use it myself. I just have a bad feeling that it'll be made and then all the write threads will get is a sea of dumbfounded faces/replies.

Suprise. Modern Art can simply be used for this kind of thing... and with this:

I think that the Modern Art forum turns most writers off, mainly due to the fact that no one posts written stuff in there, and I know that there are writers amongst you. Well, vote. I'd like to see this passed.
Why don't you start, then? People follow examples. If someone posts written work, someone else will join in; example being YD adding her own spriting to my thread

We aren't going to create another forum when the one it'd end up partially replacing isn't active enough as it is.

...and on that note, if there is overwhelming support, perhaps I can give this forum a trial-run of a few weeks..

That'd be awesome, Xk. I know that there are writers among us who just want to post some work, and since many people like to critique (if bluntly... very bluntly *glares at Alastor*), I think it would be useful to get a comglomorate of people there to read, review, admire, etc...

Alright; I submitted something of mine in MA. Of course, it was bogged down by more traditional styles of art, which leads me to believe that MA is not the place for written pieces.
Perhaps we should impliment the Writes Forum

...But it has only been one day since you posted the story.

And your thread is number 7 from the top (Not counting sticky's)

I guess a trial can be done. Even though 7 people have voted 'yay'

Maybe by doing the trial, some people will come out from their caves and be inspired to write. Because not everyone that writes has voted here.

I say yay, because i'd like a definite place to post any work in progress stories that i'm doing, and/or riddles and poems that I have made over the past few months.

Im not a writer but I think this is a great idea. It would be awesome to have a forum where users could go and read/review stories created by other users. Lets do it!
