This is my first hack that I've been working on for the past couple of months I planed on doing a hack something few people have started and fewer people have finished.

for this hack I plan on pushing Hyrule Magic's editing abilitys to the max. My plan is to have a complete overworld and dungeon edit, new text and a new storyline, and some sprite editing.....maybe.

So far my completed sections include Overworld Links house, Kariko Village, Lost woods, Hyrule caste, and some paths between them. Inside I've finished Link's house and I'm about 35% done with Hyrule Castle.

I plan on realesing a demo for this hack once I finish Hyrule Castle and I'll try to keep you updated as to how this hack progresses if you guys like it.

Untill then I just have some screen-shots.

So tell me should I keep this hack going or should I trash it?

It's looking good so far. You should keep at it (you said yourself that few people have finished a Zelda 3 hack). Keep up the good work.

Nice screens. The overworld is pretty well done and the house does look like it is two stories.
Good work with that. Good.

Hope to see more progress on this.

Love the look. Thought it was about time i posted and gave my regards to your hack. Looking nice. I'm not a fan of zelda hacks where the dungeon or overworld objects dont connect properly cutting into the already limited atmosphere of zelda, so its great to see it looking rather nicely laid out.

Apart from the door in links house its all perfect. You would be able to actually have that doorway move forward so it fits correctly with the way youve made link's house two-story. Just press num_pad_6 until the two layers of the doorway (the frame and the exit to the overworld) are further from the edge of the room. The "uncle" sprites movement isn't dependant on the doors vertical position just the horizontal so it shouldnt be affected by the change.

otherwise keep it up.

*sigh* I was waiting for someone to notice that

Wiat..Wait if I...HA I did it thanks NEONswift I finally found a way to fix that door problem(as of resonly I've just given up on it and hoped no one would notice)

Also I might have siad that I would edit the Overworld/Dungeons then Text then sprites in that order....Well guess what I lied.

Keep in mind I am a pretty good sprite artist but I've only done Megaman sprites and rarely done anything for a hack (there is that one of Mario 1 where I'm switching all the sprites into Megaman ones but I've pretty much ignored that) Either way I've pretty much got a pretty nice edited sprite for Link. It's not done by any means I need to work on the sheet itself more and I forgot to lighten his skintone but this is my start tell me what you think.

I like the Link sprite, but for some reason, the head looks to small...
it just seems too small for his body, maybe it's just me.

I'm still in the process of converting link from minish cap graphics to fit in my hack so i know how difficult it is to change link. Even more so if you alter the body. so good on ya

Just wondering has anyone ever been able to find when changing the sprites in a Zelda 3 hack where anything "besides" Link is located because so far under 3 different editors Links graphics come in clear as day but I can't find anything else am I the only one with this problem or am I severlymissing something?

There's a utility on FuSoYa's site to decompress Zelda 3's graphics to a Lunar Magic-style seperate file, and reinsert it.

Click START -> Run and type in "cmd" to bring up the command prompt. You then either type location of zcompress or drag in the icon from which ever folder its in. Id recommend dragging it in as when youre working with multiple files like .bin .smc and zcompress itself it doesnt become confusing.

zcompress does not have a gui so youll need to read the readme to learn how to decompress and recompress the graphics back into the Zelda 3 rom. Also using Zcompress completely cuts out any complications with zelda 3 rom memory errors that occasionally appear in Hyrule Magic. Also HM wont inexplicably crash for no apparent reason.

Ok I've got it working but everytime I try to put in one of the commands all I get is this

'zcompress' is not reconized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Ummm what?

I put in the zcompress program then press "enter"

then I type in the command that should decompress the file but I get that /|\

What am I doing wrong?

ok it seems to have worked but what do I do with the .bin file I've downloaded a couple of things that should work but they won't open the file for whatever reason. So is there something that everyone out there uses that works that I can have a link to or something?

PS --- when decompressing the file I could only decompress an original LOZ lttp it wouldn't let be do it to my already edited version I'm guessing because of the size went up 4 Kb but will I still run into the same problem when I want to reinsert the file or am I going to have to start all over on this Hack again?
