Sigmund's eyes opened, and he got up. Was it over? He felt his body...

Hands were wrinkled. Forehead? Wrinkled. Beard still there.

Head...

He raised his hand up there, hoping and praying he wasn't still bald. His hand met with nothing but shining skin. Still a cue-ball...

Sigmund: "Dammit. Dammit all..."

He stood on his own feet. He didn't feel any different. Just as if he had taken a very long nap and had a full meal. Was this really the end result? Was it really permanent?

He stared at his wrist... Had he at least gained that back? He concentrated, trying to remember the old feeling he felt, back when he still had it...

...and a small, crystalline object that he realized was still embedded in his wrist glowed brightly in the cave.

Sigmund smiled a for-now-wrinkled smile, and began to trek back to the group. After all, Elle and Lily needed someone to protect them, and from the sounds of things, Arminas and the dumbass were going to be going at it for a good part of the way in.

A few steps ahead of the cave's exit, he decided to try something.

He closed his eyes for a few seconds, and his wrist glowed a teal, sterling color.

And then he disappeared, grinning the whole time.

Ark didn't move for a second.

"He's right, if you go you're going to die."

"Think...? A better way in... would for me to not be seen at all..."

"Oh, please, there are so many guards there you won't get by them all."

Ark started to walk forward, he waited at the last turn to the ruins. He had a choice, to attack and hope that the force wasn't to well organized, or to find a way to sneak in.

"They're just men... this army so far hasn't been extremely good, all I need to do is have a little luck."

"What do you think you can do? With so many possibilities!"

Ark put the spear on his back and grabbed a medium sized rock. He rolled it from behind the corner and waited, listening.

"As soon as someone comes down the corner, I just have to silence them and use their armor as a disguise..."

"That is overdone and predictable. What if it's a woman soldier?

"Shut up. I'm not even sure if there are women in this army."

Sigmund whopped with glee as he zoomed down the path, rapidly gaining on the group of adventurers. THIS was more like it! More unseen than Cedric and feeling stronger and faster than before (at least, an hour before...), Sigmund might not even need his box if he kept recovering at this rate...

Still, something felt off... Almost as if he was missing something. Something very vital.

He slowed down a bit, and felt his legs grow heavy. He slowed down a bit more, and realized that for all the power he had used, for some reason the source wasn't providing him with enough energy... He was visible again, too.

Was it less powerful than before? He wagered so. Which meant that no matter what, he had effectively gained nothing but potential from this little excursion...

All that time wasted, all that effort to get to Rufus, all of that risk for nothing but potential? Bah, he thought. The truly avaricious wanted instant results.

Sigmund moved along at a highly normalized pace, with the group only several hundred yards ahead. He placed his mind to Lily, and to the Everlight...

Maybe that would help, he thought.

"What was that sound?"

"I'll check it out."

"What are you doing?!?"

"What? I'm just going to check it out."

"And have our commanders reprimand us for leaving our post just because YOU went to check on a sound?"

"But.. there's lots of guards here... and what if.."

"And then you're the first one to die. Do you want to die?"

"Um.."

"I SAID DO YOU WANT TO DIE?!"

"N-no, ma'am!"

"Okay. Then stand still and look you're guarding."

Lily: Hey.. Teach. I've been wondering... I've actually lost some sleep over it..

Lucas: ... This better not be something absurd.

Lily: You know those base turtles we fought? And I know I've seen the same dealy with others before...

Lucas: ... yeah?

Lily: Why do they have laundry hanging?

Lucas's eyes were now hidden beneath the shimmer of his glasses.

Lucas: Um... well..

Arminas: Yeah, I've been wondering that myself. You're a natural historian, right?

Lucas: Yes. Well.. Um...

Lucas lets out a sigh.

Lucas: That's the biggest mystery of the base turtle.

Lily: ...

Arminas: ....

Sigmund: "It's 'cause of the symbiotic relationship they 'ave with another species entirely..."

The camera swiveled to Sigmund, who suddenly stood in front of the group, joining them as their path melded into his. Another shady move, of course...

"It's a bird, yeh see. The Lockrakokra, better called the Lock Bird by mos' researchers. Locks're a strange species of bird that've evolved over the years ta a sorta civilization in terms. If'n yeh noticed, the clothes that yeh saw 'ad tiny holes in 'em, fer the wings 'n' tails the birds've got. An' fer all their loud chirpin' and singin' while they do their laundry on the turtles, the base turtles still allow 'em ta squat on their land. Crazy stuff, eh wot?"

He leaned against a tree as they approached. Had to play it cool...

"What was that sound?"

"A big rock just appeared!"

"Look, I think there's something out there."

"Then send one of the mountain trolls out there. They won't reprimand us if we sent out something that ugly."

"Yeah.. yeah! We'll just say it was hungry."

Moments later, a tall mound of ugliness, dragging what used to be a tree trunk, appeared before the stone Ark had tossed. Its skin looked like folds of sagging, gray leather, which was contrasted by the thread bare vest it wore. The tall beast looked around, digging a massive finger in one of its huge nostrils.

--------------------------------

Lucas: Hm... I have not heard any information regarding the Lockrakokra's relationship with the Base Turtle...

Arminas: Wow.. but.. that kinda seems weird.. I mean.. why would those birds live on the turtles? And.. especially since these last turtles we fought were heavily armed.. I wouldn't think Gregorious' army would approve of having birds flying around..

Lily: Oh, and Gramps? If you wanna look cool, it'd be better if you were actually moving with us. We're still kinda.. you know, walking very fast.

The camera swiveled a second time, and somehow Sigmund was ahead of the group again...

Sigmund: "It's very simple, boy!"

He began walking along with them, talking between steps...

"They keep the guns clean..."

Ark stepped into the troll's line of sight and threw a pebble at it.

"See, didn't work."

"Well, I have another idea."

Ark stared at the troll and waited. He wanted the troll to attack, then he could convince the troll to help him out... hopefully.

The mountain troll let out a few groans, with a long strand of droll hanging off of its mouth. It raised the hand that was holding onto the wooden club and tried to clumsily swing at Ark.

"Hey, what's he doing out there?"

"I don't know. I can't see around his fat ass."

Arminas:

Lily: Well, Teach. Looks like the older old man knows more than you do.

"Heeey! Troll! Don't go out too far."

The troll turned his head. He let out a few grunts that sounded like whining noises.

"Don't give us any lip. We're all working for the same employer. You want high quality meals, don't you? Then get back here already."

"What if he was attacking something out there?"

"The troll would've already smashed it good."

--------------------

Arminas: Still no signs of Ark..

Lucas: I believe we're approaching the Ruins of Light, so we'll find out soon.

"... I've spent to much time, me attacking now would be a waste..."

Ark slumped down on the side and sighed. Such a waste of time, he should've just attacked.

The troll looked infront of him. Thanks to Ark slumping down, the mountain troll actually lost sight of the pebble thrower. He let out a disatistfied grunt and started dragging his massive legs back to the Ruins of Light entrance.

-----------------------

Lucas: Cedric.

Cedric: I was beginning to think I would have to start knitting myself some pajamas and start sleeping here.

Lily: You sound like you're in a good mood.

Cedric: Maybe. I was just waiting for the results of an experiment.

Lucas: Experiment..?

Cedric: Whether or not the guards at the Ruins of Light were capable of being called guards. Either they're very smart and care for their own well being, or they're very stupid.

"Did he talk Ark from attacking? What a fool... Ark specializes against armies... he would've caused a huge distraction and gave us an easy way in..."

Clara: You're still not being clear..

Cedric: The entrance to the Ruins of Light are located through a very tight passage through a cave. I was hoping for that fool to charge in there and shift security to the front. Judging from the lack of sound, I take it he was either caught, or decided to keep from attacking.

Lily: There's no way Drenchy would be caught! He could take them all on!

Cedric: I doubt that.

Cedric started walking, with the others following.

Lily: What do you mean? You haven't seen his power!

Cedric: I've heard. But, so far, I can't see him figuring out how to spin a wheel with the directions painted on it.

Lily: Now that was uncalled for!

Clara: If Cedric was right about security, what do we do? We can't just force our way in.

Lily: Oh, come on! You can't let a minor challenge like this hold you back!

Rufus: Right!

Lily: No matter the difficulty, you must press on!

Rufus: You tell 'em!

Lily struck a pose, pointing out forward.

Lily: Go get 'em, Ruffy!

Rufus: Whachoo mean "Ruffy"?!

Cedric: Congratulations. It seems the stupid bum actually has a brain.

Elle wanted to yell at Cedric, but sadly she couldn't. Instead, Ark took actions into his own hand. A pebble whizzed through the air and hit Cedric right on the forehead.

"The captain of the guards is good at following orders."

Ark approached the group.

"If I hadn't worried about what you said, I probably could've broken through the guard and had them chasing me inside the ruins, then I could've set up an ambush to dispose of everyone following me, but instead I tried to listen to you. I should stop second guessing myself."

Cedric moved to the side a bit. The pebble kept moving until it was stopped by Rufus.

Rufus: Ow! What hit me?!

Cedric: I think it was the last of your brain cells. They wanted out.

Rufus: Aha.. little man's got jokes, ah? You care to settle this right here an' now, boy?

Cedric focused his blazing eyes over at Ark, however, the cold look was gone.

Cedric: You COULD have set up an ambush. But what's going to stop the Terrors, or even Gregorious himself from hearing the alarms they've set up?

Arminas: How do you know about that?

Cedric: It's my job to know.

Arminas: ... yeah, I know

Lucas: Cedric, is there any way we can sneak in there?

Cedric: Well, it's not impossible.

Lily: Seriously?!

Cedric: When things went badly at the Waterways, I figured you'd ask about that next. How much are you willing to pay for this information?

Arminas: All we've got.

Cedric: Heh. All you've got isn't very much, now is it?

"So more people after me, more people that I could've lead away, I had twenty minutes after all. That's a long time for a battle."

Ark didn't know what to do with this kid, he wanted to hunt down his parents and show them how their kid acts, but he doubted Cedric had parents.

Cedric: Go ahead and do that. I'm not going to stop you.

Lucas: I think it would be best if Ark didn't go.

Lily: Hey! You don't trust Ark, do you?

Clara: I don't think trust is the issue here, Lily..

Lucas: Ark, I, personally would find it more appropriate if that was a last resort, given your capable abilities.

Lucas had already envisioned the entire ruins collapsing. A poor girl's life disappearing at the same time ancient ruins being lost before it was explored.

Lily: Well, what do we do with Greedy McGee over here? He's not giving us an easier way in cheaply.

Cedric: In this case, I'll offer a set fee so there won't be any confusion. The price is that you risk your lives. That's what this information is worth.

There were a few random looks given to one another.

Lucas: Is that all?

Cedric: These are your lives we're discussing. I don't think you could choose something more valuable.
