Sky looked toward the now growing number of town 'heroes' lying on the ground, and then turned towards Arminas.

Sky: Jeez, this kid's loaded for bear...well, boy, looks like you may not need my help after all. Don't overdo it, though. You want to defend yourself, that's one thing, but if you start with serious injuries, I may need to take their side. I think we ought to just get out of here for now so nobody else gets hurt.

With that, Sky motions towards the exit and gestures for Arminas to follow.

Lily: Ah yes.. where we're going.. See that mountain over there?

Lily pointed to the mountain range that seemed like a very good walk to reach.

Lily: It's actually around the other side. We have to walk along the coast that's three o'clock from here, take it 2 o'clock until we pass the mountain range, then go around nine or ten o'clock until we find some caverns. *nod nod*

--------------------

Arminas narrows his eyes a bit. He takes a step towards Sky, but stops.

Arminas: I came here to wait for Lucas. Unless you know where the bandit Rufus Gorrila stays at, then you're wasting my time.

A tall, slender man in a beige cloak walked into the plaza. His brown eyes were hidden behind spectacles, which were reflecting the sunlight pretty strongly. He saw Arminas, and the Bantam Bouncers. He breathed in deeply as he ran his hair through his medium cut, brown hair.

Lucas Yukin was the sheriff of the village, but he pretty much prefers to stick to doing research.

Arminas: About damned time!

Lucas: Arminas, what's going on here?

Lucas eyes the knocked out Curtis and Isabella.

Arminas: They tried to pick a fight with me

Lucas: Is that the whole story?

Arminas: Look, I don't have anymore time to be wasting. Tell me where the bandits' lair is!

Lucas: You shouldn't be so hasty, Arminas. You're bound for trouble if you rush in there with that attitude.

Arminas: If you don't tell me right now, then buzz off.

Lucas shakes his head in disappointment.

Sky: Brash, too brash. Look, kid, going around beating people up because they annoy you isn't going to get you to your goal, and it's going to piss a lot of folks off. Believe me, I've been in your shoes.

Sky walks up to Lucas and takes him aside, watching to make sure Arminas keeps his distance.

Sky: I'm guessing this kid has been a problem for you before. If you give me the information he's looking for, I'll take him there, and do my best to make sure he doesn't...well, that he doesn't do something this brash there. The kid's got the making's of a fine warrior, and I heard something about this bandit myself. I'd like to accompany him and keep him out of trouble.

Lucas: Actually, that's not a bad idea, But I'm still uneasy about it. Instead of having two people who're new to the island going out there, there'll be three, and it might not sit well with my conscious... However, you don't seem to be as brash--Hey, where do you think you're going?

Lucas leaned a bit to see Arminas walking towards the town's exit.

Arminas: I don't need extra weight slowing me down. I'm gonna find it myself.

Lucas: *looks at Sky* Forgive me.

Lucas holds out a hand and points at Arminas. A glow was emitted from the man's finger tips as the wind around him started to whip around.

Lucas: Lightning!

And in one quick flash, Arminas was struck down to the ground.

Arminas: Aaah.. Crystal ome usersss...

Lucas: Don't worry, it's as powerful as giving him a knock on the head.

Lucas walks over to Arminas's body.

Sky looks at the boy sprawled on the ground and winces.

"That's one hell of a blow to the head you gave him...though I'd say he deserved it. Look, kid, I'm coming with you whether or not you like it. You really shouldn't be out there on your own what with your attitude, and you need somebody to watch out for you. I've got some of the same goals in mind, too, so there's no reason it shouldn't be me. You remind me of myself, actually."

Sky walks over and extends a hand to Arminas to help him up.

"You've got potential, and I'd hate to see it used the wrong way."

Sigmund: "The wrong way, eh...? Wrong way this!"

He shoves Sky aside and kicks Arminas in the head, grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and bringing his face close...

"Who's this girl, huh? And what's she doin' with Rufus? This note of yers sounds awfully fishy..."

Sigmund flashed the piece of paper in front of Arminas' face. There was a rustle of paper in the wind as he exclaimed...

"Rufus has a loot stockpile a mile high and a price on his head worth twice the junk he's stolen! Some bold young'n expectin' to be a hero by bringin' him in, I s'pose! Well, yeh're not goin'! I've got me a score ta settle with that gringy thief, and no little shipzip fleecer is gonna take that from me! I'M the one who does all the taking around here!"

(thinking): 'That bastard bandit set me up all those years ago... That ring was supposed to be MINE! Mine alone!'

Sigmund threw Arminas to the ground again, stalking off with his note and an angry old man vendetta... He didn't like being reminded of things like this.

Arminas: Damnit.. It's just a log, ok?

Arminas was a bit strained in his talk.

Arminas: She's... my sister, ok? Now just give back the paper.

Lucas: Sister?

Curtis: A brother must run to a sister when she is in trouble!

It seemed Curtis was just fine, with the way he appeared beside Lucas.

Lucas: That would explain his behavior.. but still.. being so brash..

Curtis: The power of LOVE cannot be held down, brother!

Lucas: *sighs* That would have to mean I'm going to have to babysit another child... and knowing Sigmund, an old baby.

Arminas sighed as he reluctantly took Sky's hand.

Lucas: Well, let's get going. *looks at Sky* I hope you don't mind asking you to come along, seeing as how you were going as well. I was requested to find a rather spirited young lady who decided to go on a rescue mission.

Curtis finds himself on the ground again, the back of his head hurting rather badly, but he can't figure out why. No one notices Sky's left hand as the glow fades from it under his cloak, and the warrior smiles as he uses his other hand to pick Arminas off the ground.

Sky: No need to worry about it. The more the merrier, so long as everyone is pulling his weight in the group. I could lead if you told me where to go, or whoever you think is most appropriate. I've only gotten a quick survey of the island so far, so I have only some idea of what's around where.

Curtis: Ow!

Lucas: Well, there isn't really much to finding the bandits' lair. We have to take a walk straight north through the mountain path, and we'll eventually find the lair.

Arminas: You could've told me that.

Lucas: Oh, honestly...

Lucas sighed as he tried to keep up with Arminas's pace.

The vast fields greeted all who entered it, with its beautiful emerald grass, and its strong oak trees. There were a few animals here and there, such as a bunnies with a horn on its head, and large stork-like birds. Unfortunately, since the path the adventurers were gonna take were not on the path that leads to the nearby port, they were gonna have to actually deal with brushings with those animals.

The unibunnies and large birds were known to be carniverous, which everyone would probably label such beasts as monsters.

Lily: You must be new to the island, huh?

Lily stops in her tracks.

Lily: Allow me to introduce you to Neo Grape Gardens! The island that continues to float whether we like it or not!

She reaches into her pink pouch on her right hip, and pulls out a compass.

Lily: This thing is, like, almost useless on this island. There are times where the island will actually turn around to avoid hiting land or something. I've never understood it myself.. but that's not important! The hours mean the direction we walk in. Understood?

--------------------------

It wasn't even two minutes before Arminas's group was attacked by the wildlife. And it wasn't even ten seconds before the monsters all hit the ground, unconcious.

Lucas: Stop running in so recklessly.

Arminas dusted himself off a bit.

Arminas: We won, ok? Stop preaching.

Lucas: You're talking to me?

Sky: Gee, and here I was worried that the kid wasn't going to have a chance to show off again.

One of the creatures, not quite down for the count, quickly found a fist slamming down on its head, as Sky walked to join the others.

Sky: I suppose I probably should have asked...is this about the worst we're likely to encounter, or does the local wildlife get more dangerous?

Almost immediately the question seemed to be answered by a "thud" and a scream off in the distance.

Lucas: Actually, these creatures pose a threat only to those without any fighting abilities. The stronger ones live deeper in the island, of course.

Arminas: Looks like we found that "spirited young lady" you were talking about.

Lucas: *sighs* If only it were that easy.

Arminas: Huh?

Lucas: Let's just say this is yet another person I have to look after, whoever it is.

Arminas: ... wha?

Lucas let out an irritated grunt before he headed off to find out the source of the scream.

"Drenchy...?

Ark decided it was best to ignore it. This girl may not be brilliant, but it was better than sitting around.

"What if we get confused and turn the clock though?"

Ark could feel that the island wasn't on the land, it was moving too. He had a sudden interest in the land below, the last time he was on a floating island, the entire world under him was completely ruined. The land was completely dead, could the same await him here?

Frustrated with his failed attempts to get a townperson's attention, Snipes shook his head and left the square.

"Well, I still don't know where I am nor when, and nobody here seems to acknowledge me... Great."

Wandering out down one of the town's streets, Snipes meandered out of the town and sat down outside it, leaning against a tree.

"Huh... None of this is familiar to me..."

Looking around, Snipes saw a path leading out of the town, and down a hill to a terminus he couldn't see. Around the other side of the town, there were several stanrge creatures roving around, but none of them were near him. Leaning back, Snipes relaxed against the trunk of the tree, his mind racin gon how to find out where and when he was.

Lily: That's where a crystal ome user would come in handy.. But that's only if a crystal ome user's body has been acquainted with the island long enough. Since it doesn't seem, like, you guys've been here long enough, don't worry about it! My directions are foolproof. Especially since I've made sure to refer to the geological locations sketched on maps by all the eggheads who come visit this place.

------------------------

Arminas: Grr... All these people are just slowing us down..

Arminas was busy scribbling something down on some paper, while trying to follow lucas, when a bear with two huge tusks lunged out of the nearby bushes. The young man in the blue tunic quickly ducked, allowing the bear to soar over him.

Arminas: Grr.. another monster.. This would've been a lot easier if I had brought that air purification to keep the bastards away...

Arminas soon found himself dragged along the ground as Sky ran past, in the direction the scream had come from.

"Sorry, kid, I'm not about to let you get out of my sight. I promised your friend I'd keep you from getting into too much trouble, and I'm not about to let it slip. Besides, there's someone in trouble over there."

Sky allowed Arminas to get to his feet when they were a bit farther away from the bugbear, but continued to drag him along. They soon reached the top of the hill over which the scream had come. There was a young woman there, a tomboy from the looks of her clothes, but under the tough exterior, as evidenced by the shriek, was a rather delicate individual trying to be something else, and an attractive one at that. Or at least she would have been had she not been thrown through the dirt by the bunicorns which were harassing her, destroying whatever semblence of order her long brown hair might've had.

Bunicorns, pretty much what they sound like, an oversized rabbit with a single horn, weren't normally very dangerous creatures for adventurers, but they preyed on any townsfolk who would cross their paths, and could do quite a bit of damage. Impalation was only done as a killing stroke; first the creatures would use their powerful legs to kick the victim around. They had done that, and one was preparing to strike.

Normally, Sky thought as he continued to run, with a pretty girl he would go with some theatrics, play-fighting them for a while before doing much of anything. This seemed a bit too urgent for that, though, and the traveller let go of Arminas for the moment before leaping from the hill to the creature preparing to deal a deathblow. First his hands glowed white, and then a wave of fire spread out around his leg. The bunicorn was killed instantly, charred all over and buried under the ground. The others, seeing what they were dealing with now, fled in all directions. Sky walked over to the girl and gently lifted her off the ground. Dusting her clothes off, he gave her an inquisitive look.

"What's a nice girl like you doing out here all alone? Who are you?"

The girl seemed a bit dazed as she replied.

"I...I don't know. I don't remember anything of the last day up until one of those creatures attacked me. I'm....Cassandra. Thank you for saving me."

Arminas: Whatever.

Lucas: Cassandra, was it? I take it you just arrived on the port nearby. My name is Lucas Yukin. You could say I'm the sheriff of Southern Light.

Lucas seemed a bit uneasy himself.

Arminas: Oh come on!!! Don't tell me we're already bein' sidetracked!

Lucas: I cannot allow her to walk to the village by herself. I'll take her to the village and quickly com--

Cassandra: N-No.. it's alright.. I can come with..

Lucas: Eh..

Arminas: Come on, we don't have time to be wastin' here!

Lucas looked over at Sky.. but he had a feeling of some sort..

Lucas: It doesn't seem like I'm going to win here. Very well, she can come along, but make sure to keep on the look out when we're engaged with the monsters.

Cassandra gave a nod.

It was by quirk of fate that Snipes happened to be lookiung in the direction of Sky when he used his fire attack, and saw the flames. His curiosity piqued, Snipes got up and began to walk over toward the spot where he'd seen the flames.
