About the small OW mario sprites, I never tried to change them, but there's no reason why they couldn't be changed with DMA transfers.

What I mean is, when you start a new 2 player game, both Mario and Luigi will be the same until Luigi enters a level. But if they're really never updated once the ROM is loaded, then making a block that changes Luigi's graphics even if you're Mario and putting it in the opening screen level would work, or am I wrong?

EDIT: Another possible way to do this might be using this patch and this program together with the program you made. In my opinion, that might work better and require less coding...

why not just locate the code for when the screen turn black on the OW and put the DMA code here, after all, its the only time you go from mario to luigi(If you don't use character changing block)

That can work too, but you'd need to use the other method in order to make it compatible with the character changing block.

well, I could use the level loop for that, so the character graphic will be updated every time you changing character

Make a trace to find the instruction which changes the Mario/Luigi byte. Right after it, add a subroutine to the DMA code. I've tried it and it works fine (except for a few graphical glitches which I'm too lazy to fix).

Oh, ot looks like SMWPTE won't work for this, since you can only use specific tiles... you can't go to the end of the .bin and use the new tiles you add.

Uh... You can't (or are at least not supposed to) change the size of the graphics files. You have to find a way to make the both Mario's and Luigi's graphics fit in the space you've got.

I like to chime in with my support of jp's work as I think it looks really cool, and has obviously taken a considerable amount of time, skill, and imagination just to get to where it is today. Great job jp! Keep up the great work!

Also, I'd like to state my opinion on some of the stupid people that have already commented. I'll skip Ph00kedUp as he/she/it whatever has already been banned, but in my opinion Crysillion is an idiot. Crysillion tries to defend his opinions by calling them his opinion and stating something along the lines that jp should have said for people not to give their opinions. In my opinion intelligent people can tell the difference between constructive criticism (which is generally welcome), and a complete dis (which should be kept to oneself, as in *silently move along*). But as Crysillion can't tell the difference, I'm sure he/she/it won't mind my opinion of he/she/it.

Also Alastor the Stylish, or in my opinion a.k.a Alastor the overly violent at the sight of Japanese text, Alastor the small-minded, or just Alastor the hypocrite. Why someone would look at something so innovative and get murderously hung up or some Japanese text in a TITLE screen is beyond me. I'll bet Alastor also judges all the book he/she/it reads by the covers. But Alastor did mention his/her/its avatar's Anime styling was actually Korean, and being half Korean myself, I can understand why someone would have murderous tendency towards the Japanese, but why such a person would then chose to even play something connected, even made by, the Japanese once again escapes me. Unfortunately for me Alastor seems to take everything as a dis (and this is, so he/she/it should), and has already shown murderous tendencies... so if you don't hear from me again...

I think that's about enough flaming for this thread.

Though I must ask, Alastor: What would you have said in place of 'racist'? I realize this isn't technically correct, but it's the closest I can think of.

Holy cow!
I post in he first page, come back later and its an absolute spam fest! This is shocking!
Instead of arguing about wether Mangas are cool or not, why not just wait until jp releases a demo. Then you can praise/bitch all you want.

My two bobs worth: Japanese style is cool, this hack looks awsome, ph00ked up is an absolute dick.

This hack looks great, I'm not a fan of anime myself but that doesn't change anything, this is probably the best SMW hack I've ever seen. People here seem to be assuming jp is going to leave -insert thing here- from SMW intact and it'll ruin it but from what I'm seeing here I doubt that'll happen.

I was going to post a nice long rant but I changed my mind.

I'm not using new SFX because I don't know how, but I'm changing what SFX are used for different actions. (for example, Chiaki "screams" when she attacks with her sword, changed the fireball sound for a bullet-like SFX, etc.)

In fact, early on my idea was not to release it until Solar Soundtrack was available, so that it had new music, but when it became apparent that it wasn't going to be released in the near future, I dropped the idea.

In fact I'm the only one of four siblings who isn't a musician. My older brother plays the guitar in a metal band, my younger brother plays drums and guitar in a grunge band, and my sister studied violin for several years. Oh and my mother is a classical pianist.

I do have a good sense for music, but don't have the patience to learn to play an instrument. I tried! But I have done some stuff with music trackers, I'm sure I wouldn't have any problems composing some new tunes for my hack, they might not have been remarkable but would be OK at least.

I have no fucking idea why "JustPassingBy" chose to revive a dead issue. Seriously, your views on disses and opinions vary by mine. If in your little fantasy world, this somehow makes me an idiot, then sure. Yes. Let's go with that. If it'll make you happy, and make you people stop randomly coming back after 4-5 days to start shit on an other-wise O.K topic, then yes. I'm an idiot. But ONLY if you shut the fuck up about it. I haven't even been ON the ACMLM boards for a while. But, moving on.

I'm kinda disappointed that there's no new screenshots for this game. Got anything new to it?

Deep down, through all my "lol, wtf @ this game" I'll be happy to try the game once it comes out, for point open fact. Anything is worth a try, and I might be suprised.
