Thanks for the votes, guys, but I must say this is one of the most destructive, disrespectful, and ugliest threads I have seen in quite some time. Some of you guys should really be ashamed of yourselves. I thought the SMW hacking community was better than this.

I'll give this thread until tomorrow night to improve. If I see anymore hateful comments, it's getting trashed.

In all my online history, I have never once seen a thread about who's popular not turn into a flame war. I'm surprised it didn't descend into flame wars quicker actually, given the fact community that this community is mostly ego-driven and many of the members have exceedly high opinions of themselves.

The only way this thread will improve is if nobody ever posts in it.

This thread is about your favorite SMW hacker, not how you should be the top hacker and dissing other people's hacks. If you want to diss people's hacks, make a Worst Hack thread. Remember that thread? That is what this thread is turning into.

Sure, its cruel. Since when has criticism not been?

Who did I vote for? I voted BMF, Kyouji, Juggling Joker, and FuSoYa. Here is why:

BMF: I've seen good ASM hacks from him alone. That and he is always positive.
Kyouji: First person to IM me when I joined these boards. Released three demos of the same hack with which something new is in every one. Some techniques he used I base mine off of.
JJ: A different style of art. Shown a lot of progress since demo 1.
FuSoYa: He is mysterious, but he has fed the community which would be even smaller without him.

Note that they may or may not have the greatest hacks ever. Who ever said this was about best hack? This is about favorite hacker. Who's favorite hacker? YOURS! MINE! Its an opinion thread! Everyone is entitled to their opinion and you should respect it. Hell, if they don't like you, get over it! Everyone in the world isn't going to like you so don't expect them to.

Right now I am going to quote BMF54123 from that very thread.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: let's remain positive and helpful, not negative and hurtful. It only drags the community down further.

And we have yet to follow this.

I say that opinion threads like this have a disclaimer or something on the first post...

I apologize for my temper. My argument didn't have anything to do with dissing any SMW hackers at all, I was just pissed off with the way a couple hackers seemed mad that I didn't vote for them, as if my opinion on the best hackers were invalid.

I still don't take back anything I said to Alastor or Techokami, if they were joking, they didn't make it clear at all, plus that is the type of answer I would expect from Alastor anyway.

Although I've been lurking for a while (3+ months), this is my first post so I hope I don't come off as a jerk.

The people that I voted for are:

ZTaimat - "Super ZTaimat World" is by far my favorite SMW hack ever. I just love the level designs, even though they're extremely difficult, each level has a unique and fun design to it that makes this hack stand above the rest for me.
[edit: almost forgot that ztaimat is probably the best I've seen at making overworld maps. they're just nice, friendly and open]

legoman - Although he may seem like a novice to some, I thorougly enjoy this guy's work. He doesn't let the constant words of dislikeness towards his hacks get to him, and I just find his hacks to be all around enjoyable. No fancy ASM stuff, just a hack.

BMF54123 - Fantastic hacker, really knows what he's doing, and has set new highs for the SMW hacking community.
