Life has been...absurd, mostly. Typically busy...and the times I haven't been busy, I've been bored stiff and stuck with no computer (and no easy means to get to one). I think it's been about nine months since I've logged in, and...noticed the new board when I returned.

Somewhere around late April/early May of last spring, I had became ill. I think it was somewhere in there that I had disappeared; that time is a bit hazy since the doc had prescribed coedine. Things I wrote during that period were crazy-good, cool...a bit odd, typically, but very good. However, all my classes were logic-based, not creative. As ya' might imagine, I didn't fare so well (literally bombed two classes...dad was *so* happy, but understood with the coedine...and if any of ya' become educators, if one of your pupils is prescribed somethin' serious like coedine, they're in no condition to attempt an exam...).

Last summer was spent...painting, to pay for college. Painting walls gives ample time to think. Which, in plain English, means your mind will wander where it will, and one has no urgency to pursue and retreive. In even plainer English, Boredom ^ 2. And, as I said, I had no computer at m' place. Just had a few books, m' fencing gear, a housemate, and the old SNES to help pass the time. Tore through Half-Blood Prince in a straight 10-hour blitz. I would've taught m' housemate or the girls upstairs what I've learned about the blade, but with only one mask and jacket...serious safety concerns. Drove character stats/abilities to obscenely high ratings across a variety of the old SNES RPGs, the ones that I have (that still work) that allow ridiculous training oppurtunities. Never thought that summer would end.
And towards the end of it...that thing I have for redheads got me in trouble. Again. Got involved with an interesting young lady. Things took off...fast. Too fast. The L-Word was dropped on me on Day 4. A bit alarming. The M-Word on Day 9. And I bailed (as I'm sure most of you would). A bit frightening...by "a bit," I mean "greatly." School was welcome.

And...kicked off with more women trouble. I have much love for the other half of the species...just...can't...friggin'...understand 'em. Things got interesting between a dear friend of mine and I. And...well...I support my friends in their habits, even though I don't understand some of them. Hers is...heh...she's trying to get one of her photosets up at SuicideGirls (if you're under 18, don't look). But, she, having just gotten out of a relationship at the start of summer and found herself single for the first time in four years...wasn't wanting to get into a relationship. Things were great fun indeed (incredibly so, I might add), but...yep. Things kinda fizzled...due to quite possibly the most ridiculous reason for interference on the part of another, but I'm not gonna get into that; there was almost a duel over this matter (which, among those of us who fence, that is a *very serious* deal. The D-Word is not to be used lightly). Rather not get into all that; it's a matter that lays between three people and nobody else.

College! Yay for post-secondary education. Geology is a gneiss thing. Some people take it for granite, but I think it's real down-to-earth. It rocks my world. *parries incoming stabs* Damnedly hard though. Last term, I had mineralogy, which is said to be the Rite of Passage for every geology major. Our prof has the loving nickname "Mean Gene" from the undergrads, and not undeservedly. This was a class that getting a 65% on an exam was something to be thankful for (I got a C- in the class, and ran like I stole the grade). I'd go into the various whatnot we did in there, but...I imagine that's not gonna be interesting for most of ya' (though I did enjoy the hand specimens of the gemstones). And also had invertebrate paleontology at the same time. This being taught by a young prof...she's not that much older than me. Kinda weird...never found a teacher/prof attractive before that. Definitely think I couldn't take being with one of m' teachers. Not. Kosher. No friggin' way. Did not pursue; did my best to push it from m' mind. And that class was *tough*. Not as bad as Mean Gene's, but still...rough. Second year as a full-time prof at 27 years old, with PhD, and I think she might be tenured already, if that says anything about her work ethic and what she expected out of us. Hence, these two classes alone are my not being around last fall.

And...fencing. I like swords (Welcome to Corneria). Now I've got a left-handed epee as well...allows me to fight with a case of rapiers at any time (and yes, I have been trained with more than one style of case...Florentine is but *one* style). I am the Safety Officer of the salle this year, and apparently the top fighter (among undergrads). The initial turnout for incoming freshman wanting to learn to fence was...overwhelming. I'd never seen so many people in the room. We didn't have enough gear to suit everybody who was in there, or really even close. Too many. We were by no means prepared for that. Spent a fair amount of cash getting new gear to help deal with the upsurge in newcomers. By the time all that had came, a good number had stopped coming since we didn't have the schtuff. Anyways, I've had m' hands full with them. Many of them, when fighting me, kinda freak out or somethin' similiar...I mean, they're fighting with everything they've got, and...blade and pressure control kinda drop out when they do that. I've taken many hard slapshots...gotten bruised pretty bad several times. Which apparently is the price for being the top fighter, is that I'm the one to best, and the young'ens are gonna try *anything* to pull it off. I'd just like to have a nice, mellow bout sometime, like the ones I was getting last year. *les sigh*

The big thing I don't like about OU is the quarter system. We've got three main terms, since not many people take classes during summer. This leaves us with *way too much* time on our hands for winter break. That starts right before Thanksgiving and ends right after New Year's. And, in this town, there are no jobs to be found. Fortunately, I got to spend time in New England with one of m' dearest friends (she's like a little sis to me...just as annoying at times, too). While there, I got to talk to some of the folks at Governor Dummer Academy, where the fencing club is supposed to have a demo this May (it's just north of Boston; yeah, we get to go to Boston for a weekend). Got pictures, too, including me fencing with The Short One on the beach of Plum Isle, Mass. It wasn't till I got the picture developed afterwards that I found out just how bloody wraith-like I look in m' fencing gear. I'll have to get these scanned and posted, 'cuz there's some funny ones in there, and some that'll need some 'splaining.

Back to where I had subleased over the summer for the remaining time. Devised a recipe for Oreo Fudge (I couldn't find one). This was good enough that the good ol' housemate from the summer demanded the recipe, as did the girls upstairs. You guys want?

When not occupied with making candies, I hit the old SNES again. Passed the obscenties I reached during the summer. You'd be surprised just how big a difference it makes having the entire crew in FFIIIus (of those that can be trained...can't do this with Gogo and Umaro) at an operational Speed rating of 50 and up, and the lowest stat in the party at 40 (Relm's stamina). Actually managed to get Relm to completely roll-over damage (meaning, pass a total of 65,535). The largest stat (among Vigor, Speed, Stamina, and Mag.Pwr) permitted naturally in that game is 128. With Relm at Lvl 99, with the Magus Rod, Cat Hood, and BehemothSuit, I got Ultima to do damage in the 2,000 range. De-equipped either the rod or the armour, and it went right back to straight 9's. Rather amusing taking out Tyranosaurs with two shots of Ice (both over 7,000 damage). M' brother let me borrow his ancient PS1, and FF Origins. So...finally got through FF2, and *finally* met a Tyranosaur (or should we call it T REX?) and Iron Golem (IronGOL) in FF1 (been playing that game for 15 years; never have ever seen either before this).

And so...Winter Term. We're in the thick of it right now. 19 credit hours (and the max they allow undergrads here is 20...taking 20 is bloody insane...), with three labs. I've been busy this term too. Since I had Mineralogy last term, now we've bumped things up to whole rocks with Petrology. It's been very interesting, and kinda weird. More things that I'm sure will bore more than half of those who read this, so...not gonna type it all up. Just have to do a bit of the research into the literature for class, picking our own subject, and so, I'm looking into kimberlite (link to Wikipedia's ultra-brief explanation), the only rock that's known to house diamonds. But enough on that.

Fencing! Still going on. Testing the frosh that haven't been slappy as hell into higher weapon classes (meaning, they get to learn how to handle rigid parry [basically, a hardened stick that is used strictly defensively], and then how to fight using a dagger, which includes sword and dagger...later they'll test to learn cloak, then the case of rapiers, and then...schlägger [about the correct dimensions for historical rapiers; one errant shot with one of these, and somebody could be killed]...and later, Heidelberg-style, which is insane and scary). And still have plans for the trip to Boston, which will likely need me to get the necessary data...again.

When I've had time, I've worked on the game I've been programming via RPG Maker 2000...though...time to work on it has been thin. I haven't made much progress.

How is everybody?

You're alive
Haven't seen you in ages

Quite an eventful year you had, glad to know things are good and looking up? I have a co-worker who is an geology major so I don't think any less of you

not much of the board has happened during the past year--things have been same as always, craziness and wackiness. Two significant things that did happen was the board overhaul and Xk's take over of the board, which has led the board to be a lot more eventful than I can remember before Xk's take over (probably the staff wars was the only thing that comes to mind as interesting).

anyways, life for me is alright--still chugging along at Berkeley. Picked up another major so I am now both a computer science and bioengineering major on his way to dental school computer science and the biological science classes are so polar (100% notes versus 100% memorization ). I turned 21, not eventful. I had an internship that solidified my drive to go to dental school. before then I was still wishy-washy in wanting to become a dentist since I was already done with my computer science major in 2.5 years . however, I learned that yes, I'm am glad I majored in computer science, computer science isn't something that I am going to do for the rest of my life--so I'm glad I found a new course of direction.

I wonder how many others remember you...

Yeah...kinda surprised at how much things had changed 'round here. Sounds like your life's been interesting as well. Good luck in pursuit of the DDS.

Yeah...I had a sinking feeling that I was gonna be all-but forgotten when I posted that, so...yeah.
