I saw the movie last night and it's the best HP book->movie transition yet. But then, it really is for those who've read the books. A lot of things seem, really out of place and moved around, but that's understandable as they would have had to make the movie 5 hours long to include everything in the book.

Some of the major differences I saw in the movie/book is the first task took place longer and differently. They never show Harry practicing the Accio spell. Hermione is shown giving Harry a hug and Skeeter saying it was a love interesting in the champion tent. The first task had Harry's dragon scaling Hogwarts castle. Sirius never gives advice to Harry on the first task either.

Hagrid revealing himself as a half-giant is shown, but it's before the Yule Ball and there's no other mention of it after he does, nor does he accuse Maxime of being one.

Fleur Delaceur isn't revealed to be half veela.

The World Cup is never played through.

Dobby doesn't reappear. Twinky isn't revealed.

It's not shown that it was Harry's wand that was used to show the Dark Mark.

There's a lot more changes but those were the ones I noticed only having gone through the book half way. I can't wait to finish this book though, the movie rendition totally ruled.

I liked it.

I am a bit conflicted in calling it a 'very good' movie since I have read the books and it just irks me the amount of stuff cut out.

I do realize that time is a issue but nonethless I like details. The movie was more fast paced a few things were omitted because of time or they hold no real significance at the moment.

Oh, as for Neville and the whole dancing thing.

Stupid. As. Hell.

Unless I am mistaken they haven't shown Ron's older brothers, Bill and Charlie yet.

Oh, and the amount of time we saw Sirius amounted to the exact time the couch in the common room got.

It was definitely the best yet. That and 3 anyway. I really liked 3.

I found it a bit annoying at the length of the movie though. Most of the other movies were a bit shorter. Overall though, it was definitely a good watch

Anyone here read all 6 books BTW?

Run times for the movies.

HP and the Socerer's Stone: 2 hrs/33mins
HP and the Chamber of Secrets: 2 hrs/41 mins
HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban: 2hrs/22mins
HP and The Goblet of Fire: 2 hrs/33 mins

Yeah. This movie does not run longer than expected.

As for the books. I have read and own all six of them.

I definetly agree. I just saw this last night at the AMC Chicago in the Loop. While I have always enjoyed the movie renditions of the books and they still serve as a nice alternative medium for complimenting the series, in this 4th movie the plot seemed way too rushed. Like they could only allot 5-8 minutes per event, then hurry on to the next and rarely revisiting past events and tying things together, and when they did it seemed in a cheap manner. I understand that there are is only so much time for each movie, but it just didn't feel like it flowed very well?

It might be something else that I can't put my finger on, but it just didn't seem to dliver as much.

And yes. Stupid. As. Hell. @ Neville, Dancing, and various shenanigans.

All complaints aside, I'm definetly glad I saw the movie and will certainly watch it again. This is one of my guilty pleasure, and having read all books so far, I just can't wait to see the next few movies

He always does it.

Though it was a shame that he was not more invovled in the movie (By this I mean his on-camera time is more than what the couch had but less than what Neville had. Sad really)

POTTER POTTER POTTER POTTER WEASLEY WEASLEY

I'll definitely be seeing this soon. I've read all the books, but other than the second half of Chamber of Secrets, I'm not too up on the movies. I'm glad they removed the house elf liberation stuff, as that seemed too drawn out when I read the book. It would have been funny as a one or two-scene subplot, but Hermione kept beating it into us over and over and over again, so it got old to me fast. I'm looking forward to the awkwardness of the Yule Ball. And poor Ron in his fugly frilly hand-me-down dress robes...

Probably one of the best sequences of events in the movie. Period. Funny as hell.

Hmm, I really liked the film, but it irked me the fact it gave strength to the H/Hr shippers (Harry had MUCH more time and affection towards Harry than I remember in the book - and that is plain wrong, for more reasons than one)

The stuff cut out made sense although it would have been cool to see some more World Cup action.

Did you mean Hermione instead of the first Harry said in that sentence?

But for the H/Hr shippers. Well I won't deny the fact that I always liked the thought of H/Hr getting together but it is pretty obvious that ship has long sailed. The movie really didn't help the cause of R/Hr much. There were small implications that they felt something toward each other but the straight forward moments of affection, strangely belonged to the Potter boy and Granger.

Spoiler: Don't even ask me what I think about the whole Harry/Ginny thing. Ugh.

Just saw it. T'was pretty good, without having read the book.

Something I didn't understand: Harry cast the spell to return to the perimeter....and was taken to the Tri-Wizard Cup? Wha? Did he cast the spell to return the girl (Whose name I forget) to the perimeter? Or was it one of those things that the lesson is sometimes to admit defeat and it was just badly explained?

He casts that spell to alert the wizards outside that someone is at that position and is in need to leave the maze. He simply sent the sparks so they could pick up Fleur.

This is indeed the best Harry Potter movie so far, I enjoyed watching this more then the other 3.

I found the start of the movie to be very rushed. I was very disappointed that they didn't show the World Cup, I was looking forward to seeing that. It only really picked up for me near the end where they had the last and final task.

But all in all it was a good movie.

Well I recently finished the book and was just appauled at the amount of stuff left out of the movie that was in the book and the changes they made. They could have done a better job, but I guess they're looking to really appeal to all audiences, not just HP book readers.

Yeah, what do you expect? This is a movie made for the wider public, not for people who are taking 3rd year Slavic studies majors

?????p Kp???

Bitch, please.

Then again, remember, the Slavic nations that have been more influenced by the primarily Greek (Russia, Bulgaria...etc.) and the Roman Slavs which also have major Greek influences (Croatia, Ukraine...etc.) have fairly similar outward cultural characteristics. I mean, just don't EVER say it to one's face. That get you Zangeiffed!

I saw it, and I loved it. It was very good, though the 3rd movie is still my favorite.
I loved the quidditch world cup, though I would have loved seeing the boys fall for the mascots more like they did in the book. I found that hilarious. I also liked the tournament challenges, and the amazing effects they had.
The ball was also something we haven't seen in the movies, which was nice.
My only complaint is how they leave so much of the book out. But oh well.
