Ohh yea...forgot to add a story about a ride I had coming towards finals. I actually had to fill out an accident witness thing for one bus one time because of the driver being a dumbass before we even left the terminal. The last person on happened to be an elderly woman and she was in the means of slowly sitting down. Well, the bus driver had other plans than waiting for her and apparently wasn't watching and started the bus off without her sitting down.

Well, a scream and a semi-comedic fall later, we've got an elderly woman on the ground who can't get up and most of the people looking at her with blank stares. Thankfully, it didn't take too long for the bus driver to figure out he screwed up when people were helping this lady off the floor.

Consequently, that bus didn't leave the terminal for another 15 minutes. I was late that morning because the guy figured he could rush things a second too fast. Dumbass.

The buses here in New York don't run that good imo (Talking about Queens buses). They have a nasty ass habit of not making stops where they have to pick people up. Damn Q58.

It's easy to fit my schedule around bus times... I have two near me that can get me to the metro and they come every 25-30 minutes. So if I miss one of them, I can just wait for 5 minutes and grab the other one.

It's really not that much of an inconvenience for me... then again, it's my only way of getting places.

I hate buses too because I go to college and I have to take three buses to get their and another three buses to get home. Usually I have to wait about half hour for a bus to get me home.

My problem with buses happened with Greyhound, coming home from New England at the beginning of this last December. Supposed to go from Boston to Columbus, with a short layover at NYC. Well...something happened...I think the fuel line froze or somethin'. Pulled over, had to wait for a fresh bus to arrive somewhere in southwestern CT. About two hours later, the new bus arrived. Got to the NY/NJ Port Authority pretty late. I had missed my transfer. They told me I'd be allowed on the next bus that took the route...which...left at 3:30. Never had the feeling of anxiety quite like being alone in the Port Authority after midnight for three hours. And instead of it being pretty much a straight shot, the bus hit every Greyhound station between Pittsburgh and Columbus. G'aah... *stabs*

When was this? Nowadays, you can feel pretty safe at the port authority fairly easy. Here's some easy steps to be totally safe at the port authority.

1: Look around for guards, not the regular security, look for the national guardsmen carrying around the automatic weapons.

2: Hang around said guard as long as possible.

Simple, no?

This was at the start of this last December (about 2-2.5 months ago). I didn't see *any* armed national guardsmen anywhere. I just kinda layed on some of m' stuff, and was thankful for a book.

Really? Maybe they're gone now. For like 2-3 years after 9/11, that place among like 50 other transportation hubs in the city were overrun with guards.

Seriously, the port authority security force could overpower most foreign militaries back in 02.

I just came to think about another bad thing with some of our buses. Some of them doesn´t have airconditioning.

Imagine that you´re sitting in a bus completely crowded with people in the middle of a summer on a really hot day. Yeah.

Here's a fun one. Only seat left it at the back of the Greyhound, and somebody decided to go take a stinky poo ten minutes into the trip, and you're on there for *hours*. I didn't particularly enjoy that trip, either.

So speaks the voice of experience.

I used to complain about the buses I took to school when I was in college; after reading this thread I probably will not complain anymore. $0.75 one way + one transfer, $12.00 for a month pass.

What makes the buses so bad over there? :p

We even have the mechanic girl voice telling us what station is next , for those of us that suck at recognizing places. My best guess for why busses are bad in NYC would be that it must totally suck to drive there. Huge city = Huge suckass traffic.
