OK, so...I love Fullmetal Alchemist. A lot. Really liked it. It had everything I could want from an anime. Marvelous.

Anyway, I haven't seen the movie yet (can't seem to find where to download it, so if anyone has a tip, feel free to send me an e-mail, or something) but I was just wondering if anyone here has watched it, and, if so, it was worth it.

Is the conclusion to the series itself good, or does the movie finish things off better?
Please try to, like, spoiler-tag stuff, because I'd rather not have it spoiled, I just want some opinions, because I very well may just be satisfied without watching the movie.

Ive seen it. The movie takes place about a year after the end of the series. Its the true ending to FMA, and much better then the series ending.

I really liked the ending to the movie, however there was one thing that really bugged me about it. Unless you havnt watch the movie dont highlight...

This--->Ed left Winry in Shambala.

You know, even though I really wanted a sequel, I was actually satisfied with the series' ending. It was a nice happy ending. And draw your own conclusions on what happened thereafter. That's what essentially happens with EVERY ending to anything. You are ALWAYS wondering. I would have been content wondering (or not) about Al and Ed's lives
Spoiler:
in different worlds.
Except Ideon. Everything's pretty much wrapped up in the end of THAT series.

It wasnt happy at all. Ok for the record, if you HAVNT seen the entire series you shouldnt be reading this thread, therfore I feel no need to spoiler tag series information. With that said, I didnt think the series ending was happy at all. Sure Al got his body back and Ed wasnt dead, but all they had in the world was each other and now they were doomed to live out their existences in parallel realties. Thats not happy

Also----->WINRY!!!!! she gets no lovin

Could have been worse. =/

Meh, if the movie really was that bad an ending, than I'm sure that the manga ending will be different, just like it is the entire series of manga. Or not, who knows. Anywho, I've watched the entire series and felt satisfied at the end... but than again, I didn't feel satisfied at the end of Ideon, which is kind of strange as it was crystal clear what happened. In extra horrific tones, I might add. So don't take my word on it being satisfying, just think of it as a satisfying movie overall. Which it was. And Ideon wasn't. Argh!

A good ending isn't about learning everything.

Hello, ever heard of Cowboy Bebop, one of the most revered anime series? Know why? Yea, because it's awesome and had an amazing ending, and the movie didn't try to explain stupid things, it just had fun but did it in a cool way.

*poke poke*

Sion, I PMed you about this. Or anyone else, for that matter, PM/e-mail me, because I really want to know where I can watch this movie.

Speaking of the manga, it WAS going in a different direction...I sorta lost track.

Your talkin nonsense. Bebop had a great ending because it DID explain everything. Everything was tied up in the end.

He didn't say that Cowboy Bebop wasn't tied up in the end. He also agreed with you about it being awsome. He was simply saying that the movie didn't have to meet any expectations information-wise, it was just there to be a kickass movie. Which for some reason they play on STARS and ENCORE frequently.

Seeing as how the characters in the manga differ completely from those in the anime on many occasion (an example being Rose, who is barely mentioned in the manga but plays a bigger role in the anime), It wouldn't be hard to see the two endings being completely different. And I'm sure that somehow, come the last FMA game, they'll figure out a way to end the series another way yet again. =P

I didn't say Cowboy Bebop has loose ends?

Because it DOES. That anime had so many things they didn't explain that I wanted them to. So I would argue that you're talking nonsense. Spike and Viscious killed each other. OK. What happened to Jet? What happened to Faye? Edward?

And they hardly explained anything about the backgrounds of those characters. The most background we got, obviously, was on Spike, but even then, there was still so much we didn't get to find out. I'm not saying you need flashbacks either, because most of the things we learn about the characters was not through flashbacks.

I mean, FMA felt like it tied up more thanb Bebop did. The only thing that felt incomplete to it was Ed and Al hoping to see each other one day, and for some reason that didn't bother me. It was almost like they were expressinbg the message that no matter what you accomplish in life, there's always the next goal to strive for.

"A good ending isn't about learning everything.

Hello, ever heard of Cowboy Bebop"

Thats implying that Bebops ending didnt explain everything. The movie took place between two of the later episodes, it couldnt have been after the series because the characters were split up and it couldnt be before the series because the gang would not have been assembled yet.

I got all the background info I needed to get from Bebop. Black Dog Serenade told you everything you needed to know about Jet. Ballad of Fallen Angels, Real Folk Blue, and few other episodes told you all you needed to know about Spike. There were a couple episodes that fleshed out Fayes background, I dont remember the titles of those though. And theres really nothing you need to know about Ed, shes crazy and a geunious.

Were you referring to Ein, because I agree they didnt explain his deal

Who ever said the ending to Cowboy Bebop was good?

Or the organization/plots of the episodes? All it was was filler. And then all these things about the characters at the end of the show when everything took a sudden twist when Spike meets Julia. It was just plain stupid. Simply put, the show could've been a whole lot better if it was executed properly.

For Dogan, Ideon's ending doesn't really count . As for this movie, I have yet to see it. I have a hard time actually watching anime that's longer than 40 minutes (I can watch a load of 20 minute episodes in a row for several hours, but movies, nah). Since I have recently learned that FMA takes a huge turn from the manga story around halfway I have decided to start reading the manga.. I might post in this thread again when I've seen the FMA movie.
