That series with the dragons of heaven and dragons of earth is pretty intense. I recall the title being "X", I believe. Lots of... err... polygon shields enveloping Tokyo and such. Need I even mention Evangelion?  |

| I dunno, I've seen plenty of worse. But I've seen both the subbed version and the dubbed version, and my god. Please, if an evaluation is to be made, do it off of the subbed one! I feel I'm not the only one who tryed ripping my ears off while listening to it in English. | |||

| Tarale, I was expecting a more in-depth look at that title from our resident Evangelion fanatic.
Something like Monster... That's pretty unique, though. It's like the Fugitive except in 80 episodes. I honestly haven't seen anything like it. (didn't finish it yet) |

Evangelion is a fairly multilevelled anime. On the surface, it is an action anime set in a post-disaster, apocalyptic world. Giant robots called "Evangelions" are the last savior of mankind against the "Angels", whose arrival could cause the a disaster called "Third Impact" -- the end of the world. Deeper, it has a very darkly emotional storyline, centered around the main characters. I'm too tired to write anything better right now |

| Evangelion is by Gainax, which should tell you everything you need to know about it.
But in case you're not familiar with Gainax's works, here's a quick run-down: The show starts off great. Keeps going great. Still keeps going great. And then the ending is utter crap. Toastyfrog's Thumbnail Theater renditions of the last two episodes pretty much sums everything up. There's also the movie, End of Evangelion, which is equally useless. That aside, dark anime? Hell Girl comes to mind, as does Angel Sanctuary. Though AS didn't hold my interest, and while Hell Girl was good enough to keep me watching, the first several episodes are completely formulaic and it's not until around episode 8 or 9 that there's actually any plot development. That's the best I have to offer. |

=P Yeah, the reason the ending sucked is because the maker, whatsisname, was depressed and stuff. but at least the TV series ending was, you know, an ending. Third Impact happens, congrats, we have no free will. Then those people over in Japan were hella pissed at the ending, and started sending death threats and such to the creator. So what's he do? Make "End of evangelion" as revenge on their sorry asses. Mind you, there's more then enough evidence to support the idea that everyone comes back after 3I is cancled, but it still was a cliffhanger. Interesting note: Asuka's line "Pathetic" in the movie was mistranslated. It was supposed to be "Disgusting", in response to what Shinji did at the hospital. damn, them girls in comas are hot! Hopefully though, the live action Evangelion film won't be westernized to such a point that everything is happy-go-lucky. I swear, if even an inkling of a father-son relationship appears between Shinji and Gendo, I'll flip. |

lol, that thumbnail theatre IS hilarious  I'm still a fan, but I agree that both the endings and the movies are fucked up. The movie is fucked up to the point that I prefer the original ending!
But the series is good, riiiight up until there.... |
