Is anyone reading this manga? It's really amazing. I'm going to buy the volumes as they come out(the first manga series that my brother isn't buying  ) but only have/read the first one. It's about this brilliant student named Light Yagami and the notebook he finds that is used by Shinigami(much different than those you are familiar with in Bleach) called the Death Note. With the death note come a lot of rules, but all you really need to know upon reading it is that if you write a name in the book, that person dies. Amazing artwork by Takeshi Obata(Hikaru no Go) and the plot is really intense. Even if I've only read the first volume, I can tell you guys that it's A MUST! You will NOT be disappointed. |

I read the first chapter awhile back when they previewed it in Shonen Jump and I was hooked. It is on my list of manga to read once I finish reading GTO. I won't say that I'll buy the volumes since I am a broke ass, so I have other methods. Unless it is called for, then I will shed the money for it. Seriously. It looks interesting, hopefully I won't be dissapointed in future chapters. |

| It's pretty cheap. 7.99. It's serialized, so it doesn't come out as often as Kenshin. (My bro buys that) Which is great if you don't have a lot of money. A LOT of shit happens in that one volume alone.
Speaking of GTO, Shonan Junai Gumi is being released in the states in June by Tokyopop. It's the prequel to GTO. Yea, 'nuff said. |

| Yes. I am not buying it. That is why I'm way ahead of you in Death Note (wai /o/). In any case, it's super awesome in the beginning, then it goes down to being "only" good, since it can't really compare to how good it was in the start. I think it might pick up again soon.. the coolest parts are the mind games between the super smart people ;P. Also, the only reason it is in Jump is because the dude who made HnG has contacts, it's not really suited for that audience imo. Language-wise it's the kind of stuff you don't want to even touch without furigana and even translated it takes ages to read just because there's so much to read. I estimate Death Note takes about 3 times longer to read than your average manga, due to all that text.
It's interesting to see how acquiring the note changes Light as a person, with all that power as his disposal. |

| Ive finished reading the first 6 chapters. The first chapter was interesting, but it was the second that hooked me. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here. The only part that sucks is Ive heard the series starts to loose its awesomeness about half way through, I hope thats just what some people think. I really wanna see how this ends, I just dont want to have to suffer through meaningless boring chapters to get there. So far its great though. | |||
